B.ARCH 4TH YEAR 8TH SEM INTRODUCTION: A LATEST TIMES OF INDIA SURVEY REPORT THAT OUT OF 37 MILLION BLIND PEOPLE WORLD WIDE 12 MILLION PEOPLE RESIDES IN INDIA. VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE HAS HIGHEST NUMBER OF POPULATION 1% OF TOTAL DISABLED POPULATION ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

SITE FEASIBILTY: • IN TAMIL NADU , THERE ARE ONLY FEW BLIND SCHOOL IN WESTERN PART OF TAMILNADU. SO BLIND PEOPLE IN THIS AREA RECEIVE VERY LESS EDUCATION OR EMPLOYMENT, AS SCHOOLS ARE FAR AWAY, LESS INTAKE OF STUDENTS AND HAS EITHER PRIMARY OR SECONDARY EDUCATION IS PROVIDED IN SCHOOL. • COIMBATORE IS A MAJOR EDUCATIONAL HUB & A DEVELOPING CITY. • COIMBATORE IS THE SECOND LARGEST CITY (BY AREA AND POPULATION) IN THE STATE (AFTER CHENNAI). ARCHITECTURAL THESIS DESIGN

CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT DURING FIRE HAZARDS. THIS STUDY IS RELATED TO FIRE EVACUATION PLANS IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT WHICH WAS CARRIED OUT WITH THE OBJECTIVES TO 1. STUDY THE CONTINGENCY PLANS CURRENTLY ADOPTED IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT FOR NORMAL PEOPLE AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE (E.G. HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL EVACUATION METHODS, PHASED EVACUATION, TOTAL EVACUATION, DEFEND-IN-PLACE, ETC.) 2. IDENTIFY THE ISSUES AND DIFFICULTIES FACED BY THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE WHILE USING DIFFERENT MEANS OF EGRESS COMPONENTS. EGRESS COMPONENTS INCLUDES THE USE OF STAIRS, RAMPS. THIS PAPER GIVES A RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS ABOUT CONTINGENCY PLANS ADOPTED FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT. DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF BUILT ENVIRONMENT USE WERE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT, NAMELY OFFICE BUILDINGS, LIBRARY, AUDITORIUM, CONVOCATION CENTRES, G+3 BUILDINGS, INSTITUTES, SCHOOLS WHERE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE CAN ACCESS EASILY AND WHERE THERE WILL BE ALL GROUPS. THE USE OF THE EGRESS COMPONENTS IS STRONGLY AFFECTED BY THE BUILDING USE, USER GROUP AND THE POPULATION INVOLVED.

PROVIDES OPENNESS FEEL,SHELF SHADING. WIND DIRECTION HELPS IN OREINTING BLIND PERSON IN WHICHEVER DIRECTION HE/SHE WANTS TO MOVE.

B.ARCH 4TH YEAR 7TH SEM THE PROJECT BRIEF IS REDESIGNING OF PIZZA HUT INTO A BOOK STORE. THE CONCEPT OF WOODS & TREES THEME IS DEVELOPED TO BRING A CALM AND RELAXING SPACE FOR ELDERLY AND A COLOURFUL SPACE FOR CHILDREN.
