Stanford Center for Academic Medicine Palo Alto, CA, US This center for academic medicine represents an ambitious effort to provide disparate research disciplines with a common, collaborative environment. Team’s integrated design services included architecture, landscape architecture, sustainability consulting, interior design, strategic planning, structural engineering and MEP engineering. The location’s mild Mediterranean climate and an adjacent nature preserve inspired the team to develop a master plan for the three buildings to act as an extension of the arboretum experience by featuring connected outdoor spaces. The narrow wings envelop a courtyard providing diverse settings for collaboration near the woods and in plazas, balconies, walkways, porches and terraces. Internally, the workplace promotes interaction between medical specialists and the outdoor environment.

4 500 Folsom Residential Tower San Francisco Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure ( SFOCII) San Francisco, CA, US The project is comprised of a tower flanked by two lower volumes. It will house 456 market rate units, 114 affordable units, shared open spaces and amenities, and retail along Folsom street. Although it will be constructed as one building, 500 Folsom will have the appearance of two low-rise buildings bracketing a high-rise tower. The design reinforces the public realm in its architectural expression, with open balconies and a sense of porosity that is integrated into the ground level and above grade into the podium and tower.

NVIDIA Headquarters Santa Clara, CA, US This Silicon Valley pioneer sought a corporate headquarters that reflected its core belief in people as its greatest asset. The 250,000-square-foot floor plan of this triangular building is designed around how people move, demonstrating design from the inside out. Oversized platforms replace stairways as vertical connectors and serve to stage impromptu meetings and interactions. The building’s sculptural roof, informed by the interior planning, creates large, vaulted spaces along with more intimate areas where private, focused work occurs. Skylights bring ample diffused daylight into the building, creating an efficient and uplifting work environment, one poised to make its mark in the Silicon Valley landscape.
