Founded by Clear Brook High School Senior Carter Rodriguez and his mother Shelley Rodriguez in April 2016, Caring Students was designed as a character building, volunteer and community service program, to teach students about the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need. When they learned that students who are on the free or reduced meal plans during the school year would need an alternate meal plan during the summer months, they partnered with Interfaith Caring Ministries and joined their “Spread the Love” peanut butter drive. By reaching out to local schools and businesses, Carter, Shelley and Caring Students were able to put together the largest donation of peanut butter ICM has ever received! Their original goal of 300 jars soon turned in to over 2,000 jars of peanut butter, valued at approximately $7,000.00! With this donation, they completed their mission to instill the value of volunteerism in our youth and to teach students that their service in the community can make a difference. And most importantly that when we come together as a community we can accomplish great things! Caring Students believes in “developing our students socially as well as academically to create inspired learners, responsible citizens and future leaders. Living, Learning, Loving and Growing to be the best we can be!”
