This month I’ve focused on Winter Wedding Guests – what to wear and how to wear it! For women, stick to rich colours such as berry and jewel tones, which are both huge this season. Stay away from blacks and whites – winter doesn’t have to mean dull. Maxi and midi lengths in skirts and dresses look elegant enough whilst also being comfortable and warm. Try this deep blue dress from Coast, available in two lengths. Layers and pleats on dresses also work beautifully, adding shape to an outfit in a romantic and feminine fashion. If you prefer a trouser, try a soft trouser suit in a purple hue.

Flared bottoms with high heels add length and slim down a bottom heavy figure. A longer blazer also disguises this problem area and emphasizes the waist and bust. Cover up with a shrug in sensual silk or exquisite dark faux fur. By adding a jewelled broach to a shrug you can add a bit of glamour without looking over the top. Match shoes and a simple clutch bag to the colour of the outfit. With plain outfits wear bejewelled accessories. A necklace and earring set is a good way to start but for something more subtle try some jewel encrusted heels. These deep purple heels by Kurt Geiger have just the right amount of sparkle!

Winter Weddings for men mean dark colours; dark grey, black and navy work perfectly. Stick to plain colours – pin stripes tend to look more like work wear than formalwear. In relation to style, choose traditional, well tailored suits or tuxedos for very formal weddings. A cotton or wool mix suit is comfortable and warm yet looks smart enough for any wedding. A good quality suit is a must in any man’s wardrobe so make sure you get the perfect fit. Gieves and Hawkes sit at the head of Saville Row in London and are world famous for their suits. They may seem pricey but once you feel the quality of these suits you’ll understand why. Their navy two piece suit is perfect for a winter wedding. It is a sumptuous pure wool suit which is fully lined and will last a lifetime. Accessories are key to completing the outfit – start with a silk or satin bow tie in a warm tone. If a belt is needed, stick to a thin, plain black, good quality leather one. A formal dress shirt in soft cotton will keep you comfortable all day and night and can be finished off with a gorgeous pair of silver cufflinks. Step 1: Deal With Dandruff
Nothing attracts attention (for all the wrong reasons) as much as dandruff. So make sure you avoid snowy shoulders by washing hair with Phyto Phytheol Intense Anti-Dandruff Shampoo 100ml £10.50, which contains a raft of potent botanical ingredients to give flakes the brush off.
Step 3: Give Yourself a Hand
It’s especially important to ensure your hands are in tip-top condition in romantic situations for two reasons: firstly they’ll be on show all night and secondly because we’re often judged by the state of our nails. Step 5: Maintain a Matte Complexion

Step 7: Aim for Perfection

Step 2: Be a Real Smoothie
Facial hair might be in fashion but when it comes to passion, being clean shaven always wins out. But don’t take our word for it – poll after poll suggests women prefer their men to be smooth. And with good reason – no-one wants a bad case of ‘pash rash’ after your wedding night!
Step 4: Banish Bad Breath
According to one survey 1 in 5 people reckon bad breath is the worst possible turn off ! To keep your breath as fresh as a daisy; chew sugar free gum, drink plenty of water to prevent a dry mouth and rinse with an alcoholfree mouthwash like Periproducts Retardex Oral Rinse 250ml, £5.10.
Step 6: Spray to Play
It’s little wonder that studies have shown women find fragrance a turn on. However, overdo things and fragrance quickly becomes a weapon of mass destruction. Step 8: Don’t Forget the Details
If there’s one time when details really do matter, it’s when you’re under the unforgiving scrutiny of your bride to be. So don’t forget to deal with any unruly ear and nose hairs. ward winning magician, Barry Hicks, has been performing magic professionally since 1986. Since then, he has performed his table and walk around magic for a long list of celebrities, sport personalities, TV presenters, soap stars, promoters and dignitaries. Hailing from Hornchurch, he covers the working areas of Essex and London performing at corporate events, weddings and special occasions, even performing at the RM Magazine launch party! Barry’s engaging personality won him his first job, and was one of the original team, within the magical themed restaurant ‘The Magic Moment’ based in Regents Street. His visual and high impact performances captured all of his audiences, earning him continued bookings at established venues and a fantastic rapport with all of his clients.

From Europe to America, Barry has travelled and seen many magicians perform and present talks. Recently, he performed at the London Palladium amongst many celebrity magicians at ‘A Night of 100 Magicians’. This night celebrated 100 years of magic and featured the likes of Mac King, Paul Zenon, Hans Klok and many other international stars. With our wedding issue in full swing, RM caught up with the man himself to find out how he got into magic and why he makes the perfect wedding entertainer.
First of all, where did your name ‘Magic Enigma’ come from?
One reason why I chose that name was because people saw me as a bit of an enigma. Not many
people thought I was the sort of person to become a magician. However, the real reason came from when I was at school. I had a temporary teacher who was stationed at Bletchley Park in the war cracking codes. Every Thursday afternoon he would have us breaking codes similiar to a machine called Enigma used during the war, and it was honestly the most interesting thing I ever done. This is something I always remember and I wanted to bring a bit of my past into my magic.
So, how did you get into magic?
It started off as a hobby and I joined the Ilford Magical Society. A year later I auditioned and joined The Magic Circle, a worldwide premier club for magicians, and started to perform in venues around London and Essex. For a while my day job took up most of my time and I had to leave the
WEDDINGS magic on the back burner for a few years. Then when I retired, I decided to take it up again and I’ve been doing it ever since.
Why do you think magic is such a good source of entertainment at weddings?
Mostly it’s fun, different and keeps people entertained when there are slow patches throughout the occasion. A lot of weddings now are carried out at the venue, so there are a lot of people waiting around for pictures to be taken and this is when I keep them entertained. Magic also breaks the ice between people that don’t know many of the party and it gets people talking, bringing them together. It helps add that extra special touch to the big day.
What is your favourite trick to perform?
There are many tricks I like to perform but my favourite is changing a £10 note into a £20 note and then into a £50 note in less than twenty seconds. This always keeps the audience attention and leaves them amazed.
What goes into planning your wedding performance?
As the audience you only see me perform, but behind the scenes it takes a lot of preparation, detail, thought and practice to get my routine perfect and suited to the client. Each performance is tailored specifically to each of my clients. I think it’s very important to find out all the details so the bride and groom get an act that is
meaningful and special to them. I ensure I have all the details of the venue, number of guests, if anyone has any disabilities or special needs to make sure I am fully prepared. I even liaise with the venue to make sure everything goes smoothly. Working weddings you get to know when to work the audience and when not to. I also make sure I’m not the life and soul of the party as you can’t over shadow the client’s big day, and that is very important. Although I do not advertise it, I also do balloon modeling when there are children at the

How do you manage to perform to all the guests within your allocated time?
Unlike other magicians, I try and cut out dead time. For example, my cards will already be out of their box and I will be fully prepared for all the tricks I do. This makes sure I’m not wasting time and my audience gets the most tricks at the highest impact.
How would you describe your magic?
Most of my material is visual, direct and entertaining so people don’t have to think a lot. This maintains their interest and attention and works well in a wedding environment where people are usually drinking and relaxed. I like to do shorter, high impact tricks that leave people wondering how it’s done and I put this across with how I present my tricks. I once performed at a wedding with 180 guests and in two hours I had presented to them all. The toastmaster said I was one of the hardest working magicians he had seen, which was a fantastic compliment.
What do you think makes a good magician?
When you are a magician you have to fit your personality into your act. You use tricks that suit you as a person and that comes out in how it is
presented. There are lots of different magicians, some are very heavy and deep with more serious magic, and some are very comical. I like to stay in the middle and amuse people and entertain people without being too heavy. The most important part of being a magician is being able to identify and understand your audience, which enables you to present to the best of your ability. I also respect the audience so they can feel at ease knowing that I am not there to embarrass or humiliate individuals.

After opening her own shop, Bella Sorella, RM catches up with Lydia to talk life after TOWIE, fashion, relationships and to ask the all important question… “Where’s Mr Darcy?!” WWW.RMMAGAZINE.CO.UK 29
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW Hi Lydia, how are things going for you at the moment?
Really, really well. The shop has just taken off amazingly and we’ve been really lucky as we are busy all the time. We just had meetings this morning as we are going online in the New Year, so things are going really well in regards to that. I’ve also been doing a few campaigns and I have just become the ambassador for Wonderbra, so that was a really big thing for me. I’m a very very busy girl but I’m enjoying it all.
So how did you become the ambassador for Wonderbra? It came about as they were looking for someone who experiments with their fashion. They wanted to move away from the traditional ‘lingerie model’ and that’s why they approached me. I think it is perfect for me. I love
“My style icon is always going to be Carrie Bradshaw...” experimenting with my own look and the campaign is called ‘Take the Plunge’ which is about changing your fashion and experimenting with your style so I am really looking forward to getting involved with such a big brand.
How is your shop, Bella Sorella, doing?
We’ve been so busy since we opened and on weekends, we get people come in from everywhere! As TOWIE is broadcast in other parts of the world, we had a group of fans come in from Israel, which was amazing. People like to come for the Essex experience and that’s brilliant, we have just been so lucky.
Give us a snap shot on what Bella Soretta is all about. Bella Sorella is for everyone. We stock such a wide range of products that appeals to all ages. Our clothing is very vintage inspired, a lot of it I wear in the press and on the show, but we’ve also got a lot of long dresses that are very versatile and suit older ladies as well. A lot of mums come in and my mum comes in and buys a lot of products. We also stock homeware and our candles are very popular with the older ladies as are our cupcakes and gifts. We have such a big range of customers and I can never pin point what sort of age range come in the most as the shop is very versatile. It’s nice to be hitting such a big market.
Is this something you’d imagined you’d be doing, running your own business?
Yes definitely! I’ve always been really into fashion and it was something I wanted to pursue even before TOWIE. I wanted

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW to get into fashion journalism and my sister and myself have always wanted to set up a business as we are both around the same age and are really close. It just made sense to do it. The shop just popped up and it was beautiful so we were like, lets just do it! We are so happy we did it and it has been so amazing.
You’ve been in the show since series one, how has it changed your life? It has changed my life dramatically. I’m always going to be the same person and when I’m away from everything, in Essex, in my shop and in my house I’m still the same person. I just get so many added perks like red carpet events and getting involved with all these campaigns. I’ve been very lucky and I’m just so happy, it’s like every girls dream.
You’ve been known as the fashionista of TOWIE, how have you managed to maintain your own style throughout?
I’ve always been really involved in my fashion and really involved in pushing it and experimenting with it. I’ve always had a unique sense of style and I do my shopping in vintage shops in Shorditch. I always try and stay true to my style and myself and I’ve never wanted to fit in with the stereotypes. I’ve always wanted to be myself and have my own style.
To maintain your own style on the show, you must have such a strong character? I’ve been so lucky as the press has really warmed
to me and I’ve been featured in a lot of fashion magazines such as I-D Magazine and Disorder Magazine. I’ve just been really lucky that people like my style and fashion.
Who is your style icon?
My style icon is always going to be Carrie Bradshaw but I love Blake Lively now, Olivia Palermo and I think Molly King has a great sense of style but there is a lot of peoples fashion sense I like. Carrie Bradshaw has got to be my ultimate style icon.
What are your top tips for looking reem?
I’d say my top tips for looking reem are; always be brave with your fashion. I think people can get quite nervous when trying new styles, they love an item of clothing but they always say ‘I can never pull that off !’ You need to be confident and not be afraid to try out new things.
Your relationship with Arg has been a focal point throughout the series and you’ve had your ups and downs, how are thing going with you both at the moment?
We are getting on really well at the moment. We are really happy but obviously we’ve had a really volatile relationship and it’s been up and down, on and off. I always say we are the most volatile couple ever but we are getting on really, really well at the moment.
Has being in the show put additional pressure on your relationship?
Yes, at the beginning it was really, really hard for me because we were just thrown into this show and there was a lot of strain because of things that come out in the press that weren’t true. We are so busy all the time but we have been in the industry now for over a year, so we have got used to it and now it’s just normal for us.
You’ve been the most well received character in TOWIE, why do you think this is?
I just think I’ve been really lucky that people have warmed to me and my style and because I’m just being myself. I haven’t made any silly mistakes that have been blown out of proportion in the press, and touch wood, I still haven’t made any and I’ll try not to!
Most importantly…what’s happened to Mr Darcy?
I think everyone thought he was a micro pig but he definitely wasn’t. He grew bigger and bigger and it was just unfair to keep him and I wanted him to be amongst other pigs, so we had to give him to a local farm. We still go and visit him and he still recognises us! He’s a lot happier now.
And finallt, what are your plans for the future?
Well, I’m going to keep pushing with the shop to help make it bigger and I love doing the show. I’d like to keep working with fashion and hopefully get a little presenting job, that’s my dream. ith our launch party fast approaching, the RM girls thought it was high time we took a break from work and had a little pampering. When we heard that Utopia Beauty and Spa were going to treat us to some TLC, we raced out over to Hornchurch as quick as our legs could carry us; and what a pampering we had!

Looking through the selection available, we found it difficult to choose what we would try and after hours of deliberating we finally chose our treatments. Entering the salon we were greeted by the lovely Managing Director, Joanna, who took our coats and whisked us away for a much needed coffee. After a chat and some caffeine, we were showed to our seats and we were excited for our pampering to start. Our Art Editor, Annie, chose the Spa Deluxe
Manicure with Hot Oil. Carried out by the lovely and very professional Megan, Annie was treated to a true pampering experience. Firstly, her fingers were soaked in Almond oil to repair and nourish her cuticles, and then she was treated to a fabulous exfoliation scrub and mask to remove dead skin cells and hydrate her hands. After an ultimate relaxing hand and arm massage, Annie’s treatment was finished with beautifully painted nails. A treatment we highly recommend!
Next up was our Media Sales wonder, Steph, who started with a Clarins Aromatic facial. Renowned for its 100% pure plant facial oils, Clarins facials are prescribed according to your skin type and contain, amongst others, essential oils of Sandlewood, Lotus and Blue Orchid. Steph was treated to a gorgeous face, head and scalp massage that left her skin feeling soft and refreshed and whilst she relaxed, her treatment was finished with a file and paint on her toes. For those who love a good massage, this treatment is definitely for you! Finally our admin assistant, Gemma, began with an eyebrow and lip wax. Now, all of us girls know
how painful this can be but the very calming and professional Megan, once again, carried out this treatment with the upmost care and attention. Gemma then joined Steph in the Pedicure Room to finish off with a Deluxe Spa Pedicure. She was treated to a wonderful mineral bath, where her nails were trimmed and cuticles worked, followed by a natural sea salt scrub. Next, Gemma had a clay mask to hydrate and moisturise then her feet were dipped in paraffin wax for further hydration. Her treatment was finished with a foot and leg massage with her nails being beautifully polished. A must have treatment for all you foot massage lovers!
After all the pampering, we did not want to go back to work and wanted to stay under the very capable hands of Joanna and her team to be pampered forever! But alas, to work we had to go! The experience we had at Utopia was of the highest standard and is a must beauty spa you all HAVE to visit. The RM girls would like to thank Joanna and her team for giving us all a truly fantastic pampering experience and we now urge you all to do the same, trust us you will not be disappointed!

Will the New Year see rates start to rise? Mark Flavin from Miura Financial Solutions Ltd comments on the latest Bank of England base rate decision. Some forecasters have recently commented that with the economy remaining extremely weak, further support in the form of up to an additional £100bn through the Monetary Policy Committee’s “Quantitative Easing” (QE) programme may be required, but this remains to be seen. Unsurprisingly the outcome of the December Monetary Policy Committee meeting witnessed no change in the Bank of England base rate and the level of new money injected into the economy remains at £275bn. Attention remains focused on the Eurozone crisis and in particular the discussions taking place to attempt to bring about stability to the debt crisis and to put forward and agree plans to stimulate economic growth. In spite of all of this uncertainty, activity in the UK mortgage market has remained fairly consistent, with the number of purchase and remortgage borrowers only marginally lower than the previous month but in line with seasonal factors. We continue to see borrowers favouring fixed rate mortgages with three quarters of buyers and two thirds of remortgage customers electing to fix their payments. Lenders continue to offer low mortgage rates with Moneyfacts

reporting that in December the average two year fixed rate is 4.24%, up by only 0.02% compared to November’s average. However, the average five year fixed rate has fallen further to 4.58% from 4.67% last month. Significant numbers of mortgage borrowers will be coming out of their tie-in period early in the New Year. However, the Bank of England has warned that with the wholesale cost of funds rising, and lenders having to offer more attractive rates to encourage saver’s deposits, mortgage rates may start to edge up a little if lenders want to maintain their margins. 2 sea bass fillets, about 140g each 1 small head of broccoli 1 orange 6 tbsp olive oil 4 tbsp small capers 6 anchovies , roughly chopped 1 lemon
Pan-fried sea bass with citrus-dressed broccoli F or those of you trying to get over the post christmas bulge, then this light and tasty meal is perfect at only 528 calories a portion...
Before you start cooking, get everything prepared. Trim each sea
bass fillet so they are both the same shape, then score the skin, cutting into the flesh slightly, 5 or 6 times at about 1cm intervals. Set aside. Segment the orange - slice off the top and bottom, then cut away the skin and pith. Cut away each segment, then squeeze out the juice from the rest of the orange into a bowl. Cut the broccoli into medium-size florets. To make the warm broccoli salad, cook the florets in a pan of boiling salted water for 1 min until just cooked. While the broccoli is cooking, put a frying pan on to heat. As soon as the broccoli is cooked, drain it, then tip straight into the hot frying pan to ‘scorch’ out all the moisture. Turn off the heat, then scatter the orange segments over the broccoli. Toss for a few moments just to heat through, then tip into a bowl and dress with the orange juice and 2 tbsp olive oil. Season with pepper and a small sprinkling of sea salt, then set aside.
Wipe out the pan. Season the fish with a little salt and pepper just before cooking. Heat the frying pan until very hot, then add 2 tbsp oil. Lay the fish fillets in the pan, skin-side down. As soon as it goes in, press each fillet down with your fingers or a fish slice to stop it from curling up. Reduce the heat to medium, then leave the fish to cook for 3-4 minutes, undisturbed, until you can see that the flesh has cooked two-thirds of the way up and the skin is crisp and brown. Flip the fillets over, then fry on the flesh side for about 2 mins until just done, basting the skin with the oil in the pan as it cooks. Leave to rest on a warm plate, skin-side up, and baste with the hot oil and juices from the pan.
Pour 2 tbsp olive oil into the pan and place it back on a high heat. Scatter in the capers and anchovies, then cook until they start to crisp. Grate over the lemon zest and squeeze in the juice of ½ the lemon. If there isn’t enough juices in the pan to drizzle over both plates, add a splash more oil. You are now ready to plate up.

fter sampling the food at the Miller and Carter Steakhouse launch in Epping, we were delighted to be invited back to experience the true steakhouse food on offer. With a spring in our step, we made our way over to the beautiful setting of Epping Forest for our most belly bursting meal yet!

The Venue
Famously known across Essex, Miller and Carter Steakhouse offer superbly cooked steaks and grills within the perfect setting of Epping Forest. As soon as we entered, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff made us feel right at home and we were eager to sample the menu. The spacious dining area allowed for a multitude of customers and the bar offered a fantastic array of spirits, beers and soft drinks, enough tipples to satisfy every customer! The smells from the kitchen enticed us further through the door and the stunning dĂŠcor gave us the perfect steakhouse experience in an understated location. It really was the ideal place to indulge and kick back in whilst treating yourself to the delicious grills available.
LIFESTYLE The Food
Looking at the menu we were spoilt for choice. It boasted an amazing medley of foods from fish, chicken and salad dishes to the more meatier offerings of St Louis ribs, rack of lamb, spicy beef and gammon. The steaks came in a huge selection of cuts and were accompanied by a variety of sauces. From red wine and shallot, blue cheese and peppercorn sauce to five mushroom chasseur and béarnaise, they had it all! After a long and difficult decision, we finally chose what to eat. For starters we opted for the Dusted Crispy Calamari, Buffalo Chicken Wings and Broad Bean Fritters with Prosciutto, and boy was it good! The calamari tasted just as good as it smelt and the buffalo wings were so succulent they were gone within a flash! The broad bean fritters had a gorgeous Indian kick and the prosciutto and crumbled feta cheese complimented them beautifully. All were well presented and served by our very capable waitress, Charlie, and after leaving all of our plates clean, we were left wanting more. We washed down our starters with a refreshing beer, and waited excitedly for our mains to arrive. We went for the St Louis Ribs, Smoky Barbeque Chicken, Classic Burger with Bacon, Cheese and BBQ sauce and the T-Bone Steak with Hickory Maple BBQ Sauce, so you can imagine our eagerness for them to arrive!
Once they came we were dying to get stuck in. Table manners went out the window when we tucked into the ribs, with the BBQ sauce mostly smothered all over our faces (the only way to eat ribs by the way!) The meat just fell off the bone and the perfectly crispy chips were a great side to indulge in. The classic burger was exactly what a burger should be; juicy, delicious and extremely meaty. If you’re a burger lover then we highly recommend this Miller and Carter burger and it came with a good choice of additional toppings. The smoky barbeque chicken was lovely and tender, finished off nicely with the bacon, cheese and the delicious BBQ sauce, but the crème de la crème of the night had to be the T-Bone steak. Cooked, exactly to our liking (medium rare, you’ve got to have a bit of blood!), this ‘melt in your mouth’ steak was meat heaven on a plate! The Hickory maple sauce was amazing and there was more than enough to cover the steak and dip our chips in. As we ravenously dug our knives and forks in, the silence spoke for itself. Each dish was a mouthwatering mix of flavours, and again, we left all the plates spotless and every bone completely gnawed! You would have thought that after this monstrous meal we would have been full, but oh no, we still had a little space for more! With our belts undone and our buttons nearly popping open, we still greedily studied the dessert menu for what was on offer.
The menu presented an array of chocolate desserts for all you chocaholics out there, along with deep filled apple pie, baked Alaska and a lemon tart. We chose the vanilla cheesecake, Eton mess and the chocolate brownie, and after the waitress had taken our order, we wondered whether we could actually fit it in. (Of course we could!) When they arrived, the desserts were beautifully presented. The chocolate brownie was rich with a lovely spongy texture and the cheesecake was light and creamy. However, the hats came off for the king of the desserts, the Eton Mess. Made with gorgeous meringues, fresh cream and fruit compote this dish was, dare I say, was simply orgasmic!
After this fantastic three-course meal, we were all ready to pop. The service had been fantastic and the atmosphere made the perfect setting to enjoy all the incredible food in. A simply wonderful evening.
The X Factor
If you are a steak fanatic, then this is the perfect place for you. You are simply spoilt for choice and the prices aren’t bad either. A T-Bone steak will set you back around £20, very reasonable for the quality of food and service you are receiving. Miller and Carter also have a great daytime and nibble menu with children’s menus available for those of you with little ones. With the fabulous selection of food and drinks on offer, the Miller and Carter steakhouse is a restaurant you all must visit, and once you do, it’ll be very hard to leave! Menace Male Grooming by Robert Wittridge With the RM girls getting pampered, it was only fair that the RM boys got the same treatment! So, Editor, Tony, and I were invited down to the award winning ‘Menace’ for a grooming session to de-stress and make us look and feel fantastic for our up and coming Launch Party! On arrival, we were greeted by Matthew Norris, the owner, who offered us a much needed coffee whilst still being in ore of the photos on the walls. Four years of celebrity visits means lots of photos and awards and the names that have experienced Menace are endless. Most recently Mick and Kirk Norcross and Mario from TOWIE who, Matthew proudly announced, are regular customers! We already knew that Menace has been named ‘The Best Male Grooming Salon’ in the entire UK so this only raised our expectations even higher! Shortly after identifying our skin types and needs we were whisked separate ways for our luxury treatments to begin. We were both booked in for the same set of treatments and waited with anticipation for them to begin. Firstly I was taken up to their relaxation room and started with a 30 minuite back, neck and shoulder massage. A mixture of ambient lighting, mood music and Jess, who has worked for menace for two years and is possibly the best masseuse in the UK, sent me into a state of relaxation and almost sleep! She massaged and moisturised my back whilst relieving as many knots as she could (proof that I do work hard and it’s not all play!) and I can honestly say it was the best massage I have ever had! Jess then continued with a 30 minuite facial, cleansing and exfoliating followed by a massage and a mask. I was then offered some of their new treatments; eyebrow re-shaping and nasal hair removal, I declined the latter but had my eyebrows waxed and re-shaped, which was not as painful as I had previously been led to believe, ladies! This completed my treatments with Jess. Next, I was taken to see Matthew himself for my cutthroat shave. Whilst here we had a great chat about some of the stars that have been down to Menace and how all the photos on the walls only tell half the story. Many of the cast of TOWIE are all regulars with some popping in unannounced for a quick cut or shave before a night out in Essex. Finally, Kathy treated me to a short back and sides to complete my transformation, yes - transformation! I went in looking like I hadn’t slept in days, unshaven and with my hair well overdue a cut. I came out feeling fantastic and looking rather handsome if I do say so myself. This experience also showed me that finding time for yourself is important and I would recommend anyone to take a trip down to Menace Male Grooming on Shenfield High Street to experience it for them self ! he Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely is about to enter the UK! Geely International Corporation has reached agreement with the UK’s Manganese Bronze Holdings plc (MBH) to become their distributor for the United Kingdom for the sale of new Geely cars, the supply of parts, to establish a dealer network and to provide an aftersales service. The UK distributor operation will be known as Geely Auto UK. MBH and Geely are already partners in building the iconic London black cabs with production for the UK market taking place in Coventry by The London Taxi Company, a division of MBH, and for world markets vehicles are produced in China by Geely. Matthew Cheyne, Market Development Director of Geely Auto UK said ‘We will start by importing the Geely Emgrand EC7, C/D segment sized four door saloons and five door hatchbacks, initially with 1.5 and 1.8 litre petrol engine options. But Geely has a comprehensive range of models well suited to European requirements. We will be aiming to widen our range just as quickly as possible, probably at least a new model range every year for the next four to five years”. Cheyne added “The first Emgrand EC7 models to arrive are likely to have a range starting price of approximately £10,000 and we see Geely cars being attractive purchases for retail and business user-chooser customers. o new magazine would be complete and credible without it’s very own launch party and RM is definitely no exception! On the 24th November the RM team took over Ashwells Sports and Country Club in Brentwood in preparation for a night of great entertainment... After glamming up in only the most impressive attire, all guests were greeted by a red carpet, a complimentary drink and they even had their pictures snapped in true star style! Delicious canapes were served, including yummy beef filled yorkshire puds, and best of all everyone was treated to a ‘fun casino’ experience with roulette and poker- all profits being donated to the Essex Air Ambulance Service.

Alamode took the stage for the first performance of the night. A firm favourite of the RM crew, this indie-rock band are definitely ones to watch for 2012! Bandmates Stuart, Rob, Rory, Liam and James treated us to some of their newer tracks including ‘Wishing I Could’ and ‘Boarding the Plane’. After a further few drinks local beat-boxer, Phillipic, thrilled the crowd with some truly ‘WOW’ tunes. Next, winners of our exclusive raffle prizes were announced, including a six month membership at host venue Ashwells, a cocktail making class for ten at Vertigo Lounge Hornchurch, Spa treatments for two at Greenwoods Hotel and Spa and a meal for two at Upminster’s Lanes Restaurant, and they
went away with some truly fantastic prizes. After lots of thank you’s, September cover star Leddra Chapman took to the mike with a selection of songs from her fab new album as well as a quirky cover of Jamie T’s ‘Stella’. Finally, Alamode closed the show with an amazing set of covers, which had us all up dancing. After celebrating what was a hugely successful night, RM look forward to bringing our readers many more ‘Exclusively Essex’ events in the future. The night wouldn’t have been such a huge success if it hadn’t been for all the support and help we received from fantastic local companies. he girls have unique voices, and are working constantly on their performance skills both as vocalist/song-writers and street dancers. Along with their dedication to music, Zhana and Jae have also been trained in various dance styles since the age of 3 in their mother’s dance school, “Dancemania”. They possess a huge amount of talent, presence, personality and determination to succeed. The girls have always had a love of performing, coordinating their own shows from a young age, using the living room as a stage to entertain their family. Their first love has always been music and singing, being strongly influenced by their parents, who were themselves in a band in the “Glorious 80’s”.

GEM’N’I, made up by twins Zhana and Jae, have been singing since the tender age of three years old. They’ve continued to work hard, with a strong dedication to follow their dreams and become the next big thing. 62 WWW.RMMAGAZINE.CO.UK
Zhana & Jae, at the age of 11, had their first singing lessons, which encouraged their voices to flourish and help find their own individual style. Over the last couple of years the girls have resisted partying with friends and chosen to have nights in writing new songs. Having performed in many Dance Stage Shows for Dancemania, the girls are very strong dancers, and also are proving to be excellent choreographers. They have become confident performers, are full of energy, with loads of stamina and have engaging personalities. The girls have strong song-writing skills, having written their first song at the age of eight, called ‘Two Voices’. Their influences include the likes of Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Cheryl Cole, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Usher. GEM’N’I are all about the catchy melodies and the determination to succeed. In 2012 the world will be ready for GEM‘N’I. Stay tuned!
