Sue Bell founded Essex children’s charity ‘Kids Inspire’ in 2007. It is a community based organisation that aims to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and their families. Currently, Kids Inspire is based in Chelmsford and Southend, and provides a bespoke package of intervention individually tailored to each child’s needs. Kids Inspire strives to build good relationships and help young people achieve their full potential so they can become stable adults who contribute positively to society. We are supported by the patronage of Anya Hindmarch (international fashion designer). We are also the chosen charity for Sainsbury Springfield, Essex County Cricket Club, Baker labels, Subway (Chelmsford branches), Channels Golf Club and The County Hotel for 2012. We have continued to receive amazing support from local businesses, such as STV Building Services, E2V, Britvic and M&G, who have supported us through donations and amazing activities over the past year.

Charlie Hedges The young and hip KISS FM DJ ‘Charlie Hedges’ reveals all to RM about her famous DJ lifestyle, from jetting off to Ibiza to interviewing all the stars on her breakfast show. Revealing what it’s really like to work alongside the duo Ricky and Melvin and for all those aspiring to live the life of an award winning DJ the top tips you need to make it! Born in Essex it seems the star hasn’t forgotten her routes as she plans to jet off around the world... 6

exclusive interview
How does it feel to be the youngest female breakfast DJ and being part of the KISS FM team after they have just won the Sony Radio award? It feels amazing, I’ve always wanted to be a radio presenter and DJ so to know I’m actually there at my age is just wicked! Yes we won our first Sony Award which is like an Oscar in the film industry...well kinda in terms of radio it’s huge, it’s so nice that we now have a massive family of listeners! You have a busy month coming up, what are you most excited about and why? I can’t choose I’m excited about everything!!! My very first mix album is out now which you can get at www.pukkaup.com. I’m playing alongside Carl Cox and Fatboy Slim in Space Ibiza on the 14th August, I’ve also got boat parties out there, I’m playing Sands Ibiza too and we’re filming a mini documentary on me whilst I’m there so can’t wait!! I’m playing El Divino on the 12th August in Palma and Majorca Rocks on the 8th September so yes a lot is going on that I’m sooooo excited about! Oh and I have my own mix show on KISS now Saturday nights/Sunday mornings 2am till 3am. Travelling around the world for sets this summer must be amazing, did you ever imagine this would happen? I honestly hoped with all my heart that it would happen so I’ve just followed my dream and worked hard in hoping one day it would come and now it’s here it doesn’t seem real, I keep a diary of all my gigs so that when I’m on the train on the way home some days I look at it to see where I’ve been as time flies and I always want to fully appreciate where I’m fortunate to be going and what I’m doing. What is it like working alongside Ricky and Melvin? Have you got an exclusive you would like to share about the duo? They are typical boys, don’t like talking first thing in the morning before we’re on air, sometimes smell and love women! haha! Who was your favourite person to interview? There’s loads but a recent one is Will.I.Am he’s such a nice bloke, so honest and humble with it.
What side of your career do you prefer; presenting or DJ’ing? I honestly can’t choose, the feelings are different, on air it’s great you feel like you have 4 million friends and you’re getting to have a massive chat with them all and with DJ’ing its just on another level for me, I love music more than anything in the world and to be able to play the music I love (electro/tech house) is just incredible and to see people having a good night because of the music is very rewarding. How did you find balancing work at KISS and completing your degree? Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy, I got into KISS at 4am, was on the breakfast show behind the scenes at the time as a runner till 9am, I’d drive to uni at Harlow College, finish there at 7:30pm ish, in my lunch I’d be writing up all my notes from the breakfast show that day, come home about 9:30pm, eat then sleep and same thing again for 3 years.....BUT I wouldn’t change a thing I loved the challenge, working hard, meeting journalism deadlines and I graduated 3 years later with a B.A in Journalism and a full time job at KISS. What is your role as a Prince’s Trust Ambassador? Ambassadors get called to events where we’ll give talks and attend special ceremonies where people are acknowledged for their hard work and achievements, it’s very rewarding. This is a big year for you, how do you survive all the early mornings and busy lifestyle? One Coffee in the morning and the thought that I am living my dream, I honestly thank (in my head every day) every single person that’s come to one of my club nights or listened to the show in the mornings! Would ever want to take on singing along with DJ’ing? hahaha one of the things my mum regularly says to me is don’t sing on air haha! My voice would shatter tall glass buildings so no is the answer. Where do you aspire to be in 5 years? Djing globally and to be in the top 100 list of DJ’s, my own album, and to drive a monster truck as I still haven’t and I’ve always wanted to ;)

Berry Chic If there’s one must-have colour this Autumn/Winter season it’s a delectable shade of deep berry.. and amazingly it’s very easy to wear, it’s perfectly toned down for the Autumnal weather. Gucci mastered the look on their runway show with berry gowns and padded parkas teamed with feminine ankle grazers. But best of all it compliments all of the khaki shades flooding the high street and works wonderfully well with utility styling.

The tools for the job!
Heart Shaped Face What you need to do is smooth out the sharp angles of your face. Go for rounded eyebrows that will give you a graceful look. You cannot afford to make your eyebrows too thin because it will highlight your already strong jaw line. You would be surprised to see the correct eyebrow shape will change your entire look!
Round Face Eyebrow shapes for round face should ideally be arched. This is because you need to give your face the illusion of length and tone down the roundish curves. Your face needs angles because it is otherwise flat. The rounder your face the higher your arch should be. But be careful not to make them very pointed or else you will get an evil look.
Milani Brow Tint Pen Long-wear, quick drying, buildable formula helps define brows and fill in sparse areas. Apply in short, wispy strokes following the natural shape of your brow. For darker colour, add another layer. www.milanicosmetics.com
Oval Face Almost all kinds of eyebrow shapes will suit your face but a small suggestion; if you have reasonable good hair growth on your eyebrows then don’t go for a very thinly arched shape. You will be wasting potentially beautiful dark eyebrows that you could flaunt. Benifit eyebrow lift Apply pencil under your brow following the arch and lightly blend. For more arch appeal, put two dots above the arch and blend. You can also use this as a base for your brow highlight for more shine and colour payoff. www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk
Square Face This is not a very flattering face shape for most eyebrows. Stick to a high arched eyebrow, it’s a safe bet for most women. Your eyebrows should begin at a lower level and end at a higher one.
Brow Tech Wax A defined brow can take years off your appearance. This best-selling, signature smashbox product is a pot of colourless wax for subtly defined and groomed brows that will stay in place all day. Groom brows in an upward motion until desired shape is achieved. www.smashbox.co.uk
Slant-tipped tweezer A slant–tipped tweezer designed with texturized tips for no–slip ‘grab–ability’. Effortless in action. Angled tips allows for easy for shaping, and cleaning up of the brows. www.maccosmetics.co.uk

Dieting vs Exercise Relying on ‘cardio’ to lose weight will involve many hours spent in the gym. An hour of brisk jogging at 8 minute mileing pace on a treadmill will burn off around 3 ounces of fat! To lose a whole pound of fat would take about five hours of jogging, always assuming you could jog that quickly and for that long! And if jogging doesn’t appeal you could try other forms of exercise, i.e. cycling, swimming, walking, aerobic classes, etc., but these burn even less calories per hour. So why do most people think that cardio will help them to lose weight? Cardio will improve their aerobic fitness and has health benefits but for weight loss, slimmers would be better off doing resistance exercise. Resistance exercise, that is exercising muscles against some form of resistance, will burn far more calories in the long run than a cardio programme. Muscles are our main user of energy (unlike the cardio vascular system) so it makes sense to put our muscles to work. The more toned our muscles become, the more energy they use even at rest. To keep our muscles in a toned state requires energy, even while we are asleep! The more muscle we have on our body, and the more toned they are, the more calories we burn. In other words, resistance type of exercise (the type of exercise performed on the Gymophobics circuit) will increase metabolism.
Whilst it is important to eat enough to maintain a healthy metabolism, the slimmer must take care not to consume more calories than the body spends in activity. While starvation dieting can make you fat, cutting down caloric intake by a small amount can have an impressive result. Reducing caloric intake by just 500 calories per day (that’s the equivalent of two chocolate bars or a typical desert) can result in a pound of fat being lost each week. That’s 52 pounds in a year – or nearly four stones!
So there we have it! A programme that combines a small increase in activity (especially resistance exercise) and a sensible reduction in food intake, is the best possible way to slim down, lose inches and boost metabolism.
The more you consider the relative merits of diet and exercise it soon becomes clear that the answer is to do a small amount of both. Both exercise and diet have their merits. Exercise will tone and tighten muscles and trim inches from all the right By contrast, dieting slows down metabolism. places. Dieting can’t do that! As outlined in his book ‘Dieting makes you Exercise will speed up metabolism Fat’, Geoffrey Cannon explains that when we and dieting can’t do that either. seriously restrict our food intake the brain But a sensible diet (that’s a small sees this as a threat. It responds by making decrease in caloric intake) will our metabolism slow down to preserve as result in faster weight loss than much of our fat stores as possible. Persistent can be achieved by a small dieting therefore could result in us storing amount of exercise. even more of our food as fat! @go30workout

Wanting to know if the budget prices are the real deal or needing help in the gum department, well do not hesitate to get in touch with Dr Jas, his here to help with all your Dentistry Dilemmas‌RM highly recommended his expertise when it comes to your pearly whites‌ How Long Does it Take to get Fixed Teeth? Dental Implants are a fantastic way to replace missing teeth without compromising healthy teeth on either side of the gap. It can take anything from just an hour to get fixed teeth placed! This can be done all in one visit! At Perfect Smile Spa we only use the best and latest technology to give you an immediate Perfect Smile! On average, studies have shown that once implants are placed they can last twenty years. This depends on how you look after the implants once they have been fitted. As with natural teeth it is imperative that you see the hygienist at least a minimum of twice a year and be meticulous with homecare, such as flossing and using the interdental brushes as recommended by the hygienist. You must also have regular examinations so that the implants can be monitored.

How do I Change My Metal Crowns? Old metal crowns can look ugly and if you are laughing in a photograph they can also appear black! Over the years the gums recede and part of the tooth root is uncovered, this can lead to sensitivity and there is also a risk that if not cleaned properly, decay can occur. Now you can change you old metal crowns to porcelain ones. These look just like natural teeth and so no one will be able to tell that you have crowns. Dr Jas has done thousands of beautiful metal free crowns. Can Porcelain Veneers Damage Teeth? Porcelain Veneers, if done properly, will not harm your natural teeth. However, once the teeth have been prepared and the veneers have been fitted, there is no going back. However you will not want to back as from Dr Jas’ experience of placing over 10000 veneers people absolutely love them!! Only a small amount of the natural tooth may be adjusted to make way for the veneers to be fitted. Dr Jas has a special interest in Ultra Thin veneers that are very strong and safe for your teeth.
Before
After
Can I Change Metal Fillings To White? Yes, it is quite easy for you to change old and broken down metal fillings to white fillings. It is much healthier for you to have resin (white) fillings as they bond to the surface of your tooth and virtually become part of the tooth structure and also they are much more aesthetically pleasing. If the old filling is particularly large, you may be advised to have a porcelain inlay, which is the strongest white filling and is handmade in our dental laboratory by our master ceramist.

Something Old...
wedding
‘Something Old’ is believed to represent continuity of the past moving into the future. Here we bring your a host of ideas which will hopefully inspire you on your big day!
The use of a classic car for the wedding day transportation or wearing a vintage dress has proven to be popular in recent times, yet the most traditional would be for the bride to carry a family heirloom or a childhood treasure. For instance, to take a cutting of the mother’s or the grandmother’s wedding gown and sew it inside the brides dress, some have said to have used a button from a jacket belonging to the father incorporated into the dress. There are also lots of non-traditional alternatives such as the bride to be carrying photos of her parent’s at their wedding, placed within a locket it also makes a great accessory. Using things from the past may also bring down the cost, so rack your brains and raid the loft, even an old cake stands or your parent’s wedding champagne glasses could give your big day that special touch. A loved ones handkerchief or the silk ribbon from your mother’s bouquet tied around your own is another vintage accessory idea.
28
www.rmmagazine.co.uk
wedding
The bride could carry a vintage purse down the aisle, an ideal place to keep the essential tissues and all important lip gloss! These traditional aspects linked closely to the bride is a touching thought, if you can use a sewing machine then the idea of your mother’s wedding dress could come in handy. Providing your mother doesn’t mind, you could use the lace for a shawl or even some gloves. Wearing a tiara that has been passed down through generations holds a very special sentimental value. All these accessories will bring a deeper meaning to ‘something old’, making your big day even more memorable.

wedding
...Something New Traditional ideas are often reliable and many opt for the most obvious option of having a new wedding dress, new shoes or maybe even new undies, but how about stepping out of the box and jazzing up your traditional items with something new. RM has explored something new to help you stir up some ideas of your own. In the line of tradition this item will be there to bring the bride-to-be good luck and success in their life ahead...
A new charm bracelet as your something new is a lovely excuse to treat yourself! Having matching bracelets for the mother’s of the families uniting is a touch that will be remembered and symbolize the magical day. For something a bit wild and not for the faint hearted how about a new tattoo, a symbol or initials of your partner-to-be will certainly keep the memory of your big day alive! Most brides have a new hair cut for their special day, a different style to wow your groom as you strut your stuff down the aisle. For a more traditional something new, why not purchase some sparkly earrings, they will not only make a great accessory but will also help highlight your eyes!
30
www.rmmagazine.co.uk
wedding
Maybe you want your something new to be ‘new’ about you rather than a new item you have bought, how about a change in image, maybe a new lipstick colour? Already planned everything for your walk down the aisle but have nothing new? How about a new guest-book at the venue, a place where all the guests can write a personal message and something you will treasure forever. All the fuss is on the bride, so what about the Groom? Splashing out on a new suit seems to be the perfect way. Don’t forget you want to stand out in that crowd too! A tip for the Groom - It is not always down to the bride to ensure all her traditional items are present; ‘Something New’ is a perfect way to give your wife-to-be a last moment surprise, a keep sake that she will cherish forever. Hand it to a bridesmaid to pass on to her on the morning of the wedding, a sure way that she will be running down that aisle to you! Lace white stockings aren’t something that many people would have in their bottom drawer so splashing out on a new luxury pair for your big day would mean you’re in for a treat. Not a stocking person? Then opt for fancy wedding anklet, with your pedicured toes it will look amazing!

Something Borrowed... The third item or ‘Something Borrowed’, is there to represent borrowed happiness. Many brides use a borrowed item from a long-term happily married couple, either a close friend or relative. RM hit the streets of Essex to find out what our readers borrowed and also what song they had for their first dance...
Claire Healy, married April 2012: “I borrowed my sister’s tiara and veil.” First dance: Michael Jackson Can’t Stop Loving You.
Carly & Matt, married 9 years: “I borrowed my mum’s garter..” First dance: Endless Love
32
www.rmmagazine.co.uk
Helen Barnes, married March 2012: “I borrowed a garter which was also my something blue..” First dance: Simply Red You Make Me Feel Brand New
Haydn & Debbie, not married-yet: “But would have ‘Any Dream Will Do’ as our wedding song.”
Kieran & Denalia, married 2 months ago: “Denalia borrowed a vintage garter..” First dance: Luther Vandross - So Amazing
Tracey, married 28 years: “We were discussing our first dance the other day, after 28 years we can’t actually remember!”

....Something Blue Traditional beliefs always get the better of us when it comes down to something we struggle with, and ‘Something Blue’ is the part which worries many brides to be, representing, love, good fortune and fidelity it’s important you get it right. Take a look through our selection of ideas that steer away from the obvious and offer you something blue with no difficulty…
34
You are guaranteed to shine on your big day with some blue inspired Jewellery, how about a pair of dainty earrings or a bracelet for that added sparkle. www.rmmagazine.co.uk
wedding
Going for the traditional garter is classy and delicate especially with a subtle blue ribbon running through it, go bolder and braver with blue lingerie to slip on under your elegant wedding dress. Alternatively if blue is your colour scheme, great! Why not go all out with some blue flowers, walking down the aisle holding your bouquet will be a great way to stick to tradition. Painting your nails blue is the latest craze in adding the traditional belief of something blue; why not try it out for yourself‌ Want to be wearing that blue item, but it clashes with your colour scheme? A nice idea is to have a personal diamante message on the soles of your shoes while walking down the aisle in true style. .

Here comes the Bride
Possibly the most important part of your day is arriving at the church on time, heres a taster of transportation available that will ensure you arrive on time but more importantly arrive in style!
Bringing the beauty and tradition of a classic car to a wedding is claimed to be the most popular option. With it being an important aspect of the wedding, it’s right up there with selecting the wedding dress. A classic car kept in pristine condition boasts exquisite style, expense and class. Want to feel like a princess on your special day then opt for the horse and carriage. With the glamorous carriages ready to whisk you off your feet, your fairy tale wedding will come to life. An elegant way to arrive at your venue just in time to walk down the aisle to your prince charming. In true Essex style, glam it up, be an A-lister for the day by hiring your very own stretched limo! Wedding Limos are traditionally white however remember you are in Essex so a pink limo or even a hummer style limo are more than acceptable. Regardless of what method you choose RM guarantee by having something that little bit special it will not only make you look like a million dollars but may just settle those stomach butterflies a little too! www.rmmagazine.co.uk

Ram Hans Actor, Singer & Model
Bhangra to Bollywood Ram graduated from Punjab University with a BA in English, History and Economics, alongside winning first prize for the Universities singing competitions for two years running. With his passion to be successful in the singing world Ram headed for the UK, where he married and began to nurture his talent for acting and song-writing. In no time he was a hit on the UK Asian music circuit and began to create and manage his own band ‘Ram Hans & Eastern Promise’ where he toured the UK, Europe and Internationally. The media caught wind of Ram and his band and followed his success over the years. “I have been inspired and have learnt from everyone I have met in all walks of life. Ones thirst for melodious knowledge can never be quenched; it is like an infinite ocean, an art with surprise and spontaneity. I will always be learning…” With his single ‘Glassy Junction’ from his debut album marking the closing of the sentimental Public House in Southall, his heritage and deep roots will remain entwined in the fabric of his Punjabi culture. Ram Hans with his live band mainly perform a range of high-octane Bhangra beats and smooth and sexy Bollywood songs. Ram states he strives to maintain both a retro singing style and sound, and after releasing his album he can finally say his dream has come true... Both buyers and stallholders enjoyed a vibrant array of colours, smell and tastes from the many flower sellers and food tents. A definite for next year’s diary. www.rmmagazine.co.uk

On arrival the first thing you will notice is the restaurant itself, after a complete refurbishment earlier this year this is now a beautiful, trendy destination for family dining, meeting with friends and the perfect place to bring that special someone. We were greeted with a warm welcome from their friendly staff and shown to our table. Looking around it was clear we were in for a night to remember - fellow diners were enjoying the atmosphere and the food looked amazing! We were treated to Bread and Olives whilst we decided what to have from the fine range of starters and Mains available. 40 years in the making...
The all-new Range Rover is the most capable and most luxurious Land Rover yet. Lighter, stronger and with new levels of refinement, the Range Rover reinforces its position as the world’s finest luxury SUV.
The fourth generation of the unique Range Rover line, the all-new model has been developed from the ground up, capturing the innovative spirit and iconic design of the original model which changed the world of motoring when it was launched over 40 years ago. The world’s first SUV with a revolutionary lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure is 39 per cent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model enabling total vehicle weight savings of up to 420kg. The lightweight aluminium platform has delivered significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with a transformation in fuel economy and CO2 emissions. In addition to the strong and rigid lightweight body, an all-new aluminium front and rear chassis

architecture has been developed with completely re-engineered four-corner air suspension. While the luxurious ride has been retained, the vehicle’s handling and agility have been significantly improved. The new suspension architecture delivers flatter, more confident cornering, with natural and intuitive steering feel. The all-new Range Rover has a clean and elegant shape which is derived from a fresh new interpretation of Range Rover design cues. While instantly recognisable as a Range Rover, the new vehicle takes a significant step forward with a bold evolution of the model’s iconic design language. With Land Rover strength at its heart, the new model has been engineered from the ground up to be the most capable, most refined Range Rover ever.

Suzuki SFV650 Gladius
Amongst the industry-leading innovations is a ground-breaking next-generation version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response® system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings for the terrain. To ensure exceptional durability and reliability, the new model has been subjected to Land Rover’s punishing on- and off-road test and development regime, with a fleet of development vehicles covering millions of miles over 18 months of arduous tests in more than 20 countries with extremes of climate and road surfaces. Within the cabin, the all-new Range Rover provides occupants with a sensation of serene isolation, meeting the highest luxury car standards for refinement. Measures like the rigorously optimised body structure and acoustic lamination of the windscreen and side door glass have significantly reduced noise levels, while the new suspension architecture has enabled engineers to achieve even more luxurious ride comfort and refinement. The sumptuous interior incorporates distinctive Range Rover design cues, but executed with a very contemporary treatment, and clean, elegant surfaces which are flawlessly presented using the finest leathers and veneers. With over 118mm more legroom, the rear occupants benefit from vastly increased space and comfort, with the option of a new two-seat Executive Class seating package for the ultimate in rearseat luxury.
Suzuki GB announced a limited run of its SFV650 Gladius, with a retro inspired paint scheme that gives the popular 650cc naked middleweight a unique classic Grand Prix look. Inspired by the1970s Suzuki RG500 Grand Prix racer, and available for a limited time only via authorised Suzuki dealers, the SFV650 offers the same great middleweight performance and handling but with added style and coolness thanks to the iconic red, black and yellow paint scheme. Suzuki GB general manager, Paul de Lusignan, commented, “For the very first time we included our own Facebook community in the decision to bring this special edition to market. With its flowing lines the SFV lends itself perfectly to a retro scheme, and proved to be a popular choice. The recommended retail price is just £300 more than the standard model at £6,399, including a special belly-pan too, but will only be available to order for a limited time via authorised dealers. So, If you’re keen we suggest you act fast.”
To deliver the model’s characteristic effortless performance, customers have the choice of a refined supercharged V8 petrol engine, TDV6 and SDV8 diesel engines combining responsive performance with outstanding CO2 emissions.
On top of the unique colour scheme, the SFV650 is also available until September 30th on Suzuki’s latest promotion, where customers get £500 off the recommended retail price of a standard machine and benefit from three years warranty and AA cover too*.

Welcome ladies to my new column which I hope you will find interesting, useful and at times, inspiring and motivational. This really is a first for me as I’m not a journalist but I’m passionate about my role as Business Development Officer for the London Borough of Havering, and I hope to portray my enthusiasm in future editions to all of you women out there, whether you are a potential ‘start up’, a new business or an existing business. Owning your own business and becoming an entrepreneur, is fast becoming peoples first choice when faced with losing their job or redundancy. More and more people are deciding they have the ideas, the skills and for the most part, the determination to work for themselves. Sometimes it’s the push they need to follow through a business idea they have always dreamed of. There is a thriving community of entrepreneurs here in Havering and some excellent female owned new businesses have made it through to the finals of the Havering Business Awards. But let’s be honest about this. It’s a difficult path to tread, it can be lonely and scary BUT as I was once told, whatever challenges you may face every day being your own boss, whatever problems you may encounter along your entrepreneurial journey, there are others out there that understand. Join us for the next Women in Business Forum, at Havering College of Further and Higher Education – October 17th 5.30pm and meet some of these ‘understanding’ people. For further information 01708 432871.
Its been a busy month since my last column, and one of the highlights for me was a trip to Switzerland for a festival! As an ambassador for Quiksilver, I travel a fair bit with them in and around Europe performing at various events and they were helping put together this particular show in Biel called X-Days Festival. My band and I were imagining it to be quite cold there, but luckily my manager, Si told us to pack the suncream! It was SO hot and there was a great atmosphere in the crowd during the gig. There is something about performing at festivals which totally differs from any other type of gig and it’s not just the fact its outdoors and everyone’s worried if its going to rain! Theres much more of a chilled vibe everyone genuinely wants to enjoy the music and have a laugh. My favourite was last year supporting Tom Jones for an event at Audley End Park in Saffron Walden with 15,000 people dancing and loving the sun! Probably the most memorable day of my life, with my mum and best mate on the side of the stage, as shocked as I was by the crowd haha!
Leddra Loves... Ellie Powell This very talented young lady from Romford, performed at The Camden Fringe Festival recently, and I went to check it out. “Keep Your Pecker Up” is a one woman show both starring and written by Ellie. It is inspired by her nan and her outrageously funny stories from the 1940’s Ellie was told as a child. This play will make you laugh out loud many times, and if you are a soppy as I am, shed a little tear, too! The Olympic Grounds I felt so lucky to attend one night of the Olympics, I saw Usain Bolt run in 200m Semi’s! I also felt very patriotic seeing how amazingly this country has handled such a huge event!

RM asked you lot to get in touch with your festival stories and we have picked out the best ones to share with you all, from trenching through mud to dancing the night away it sounded like you lot had a great weekend...
Chloe, 21: “When I was at Creamfields in the portable toilet with my friend I went to grab the soap dispenser and I touched it and realised someone had taken it out and filled it up with something less hygienic! I still had an amazing time.”
Grace, 21: “I went Secret Garden Party and arrived a day late due to work, walking to meet my friends as soon as I got there I fell over face first in the mud and my new jeans were completely covered.”
Louisa, 21: “I had to drag a ten man tent for miles! I was close to tears at some points, but it all made it worthwhile in the end when our tent showed everyone else’s up and was the last one standing!”

George, Elliott, Sid & Chris: “We went Wireless festival and were in the crowd with drinks flying everywhere; our ginger friend got covered head to toe by a red Alco-pop which stained his skin for the rest of the weekend.”

V Festival Fanatic!
What a weekend it was at Hylands Park, where V Festival took over and boasted a brilliant time for all that attended... Rae Passfield, Ella Shean and Leanne Tattoo explored the grounds and gave us their verdicts...
V Festival Newbie No 1! Ella Shean, 15: When I first got to V it was a very different to what I thought. It’s like a whole new world; you would never experience it anywhere else but V festival. There are so many people of all ages, from kids to adults, everyone is just so laidback. The only bad thing is, is that everything is so expensive and because it was hot, I ended up spending all my money on bottles of water. On Sunday I enjoyed myself a bit more as I knew where everything was and I knew where to go for anything I needed. The stages are all different environment, if you go to the main stage it’s a more chilled out older environment, the 4 music stage is a more young and vibrant and the area is more dance music. Overall I had an amazing weekend, and I can’t wait to go back next year!
V Festival Newbie No 2! Leanne Tattoo Being a ‘Festival Virgin’ I had no idea what to expect for Essex’s hottest music event of the year. Not quite brave enough to camp, me and 2 girlfriends picked the Sunday line up and ventured to Hylands park to see what all the fuss was about... Our sun-dance seemed to work- the weather was amazing- breaking just briefly into rain when we were watching the amazing Rita Ora perform in the Arena StageI’m sure this lady is one to watch in 2013. Highlights for me included good old Essex boy Olly Murs playing his hits with an awesome band and later accompanying 80’s legends Madness in ‘It Must Be Love’. We muscled our way to the front of the crowd for Snow Patrol’s set at 8pm and even got a little teary-eyed when they sung ‘Run’. Fulfilling a massive personal dream I also got to see the Killers perform in the flesh, with Brandon Flowers looking even more dashing than ever... I can’t deny, I was happy to be returning to my nice warm bed and bath to wash the (questionable) cider from my hair. Glad I booked Monday off work, definitely, but was it worth it? Absolutely 100%...
For three years running music enthusiast Rae Passfield, 19 has attended V Festival. After recovering from this year’s weekend of scorching sunshine and indie anthems, she revealed to RM Magazine her V highlights… Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds The atmosphere was palpable standing at the front of Noel’s 100,000+ crowd. He is, by all accounts, a living legend and his transition from Oasis guitarist to High Flying Birds’ front man has only heightened the admiration. He belted recent singles Everybody’s on the Run and If I Had a Gun while we sang along like our lives depended on it. Naturally though, it was the Oasis classics that were really something special. The feeling and passion during Little by Little and Don’t Look Back in Anger were spine tingling; these are songs that today, only Noel Gallagher can do justice. Best gig of the weekend. Top tune: Don’t Look Back in Anger Ed Sheeran Although a fan of Sheeran’s platinum-selling debut “+” I had concerns about his acoustic sound resonating as a headlining slot. These reservations were, however, quickly obliterated by this young man’s undeniable talent. He brought an energy to his gig that I’ve never experienced before, turning the crowd into his own “gospel choir” who frequently played a part in his almost acapella performance. Emotion filled the tent during the heart-wrenching Small Bump but smiles were restored when Example appeared for a special duet of Changed the Way You Kissed Me. His unforgettable set ended with an explosive version of You Need Me and a perfectly-timed firework finale. Top tune: Small Bump Reverend and the Makers In blistering heat the Reverend bowled out onto stage, determined to give the crowd a good time. After hearing a taste of their brand new record with single Basslines, it would seem the Sheffield band have returned to the former glory of their debut. They gave us a lively show with old favourites like The State of Things and the Essex inspired He Said He Loved Me. Before leaving, front man Jon McClure demanded we should see fellow Northern heroes Noel Gallagher and the Stone Roses for “some proper music”. I couldn’t agree more. Top tune: Heavyweight Champion of the World
