We do not outsource the manufacture of our designs to industrial scale factories. From delivery of the highest quality raw materials, we actually manufacture our product ourselves.

Utilizing the endless lifecycle of aluminum, our proprietary alloy blends offer superior mechanical properties resulting in stronger rims and reduced weight through optimized design. From rim extrusion, through to final product, each rim is passed through twelve quality control tests

Micro grain refinement processed alloys. Processes such as extrusion, forging and tube drawing increase the strength of alloy materials by reducing the grain size. No other bars or rims are subjected to the number of drawing steps or level of refinement as those offered by SPANK.

Inverted tube well design for greater cross sectional strength.Wider, lighter rims. The unique OohBah™ profile allows us to manufacture thinner walled, wider profiled, lighter rims without sacrificing strength or rigidity. Wider rims mean stiffer wheels and more tire spread, leading to greater traction and improved comfort, and tire performance. The “wave” shape of the OohBah™ inner tube adds strength and support to the vertical rim flange walls and prevent buckling. Normal straight or curved tube wells must be much thicker, and by default heavier, to offer the same support.

Enhanced anti-burb and tire retention tubeless performance. Bead Bite™ rim technology, paired with SPANK‘s patented OohBah™ profiles, enhances tubeless use with tires of all types and with a greater range of air pressures.

They dramatically increase frictional forces on the tire bead, reducing the bead‘s ability to move vertically or horizontally (thus improving tire stability and reducing burps).

Bead Bite™ rims have 6 rows of tiny ridges that run along the vertical and horizontal faces of the bead seats. These tiny teeth create air seals between the rim and tire as the bead conforms into them under air pressure.

The bead literally becomes trapped between the vertical and horizontal ridges, even at very low air pressures. Bead Bite™ rims allow much lower air pressures with reduced risk of pinch flats.

P E D A L S Forging alloy in a mould, little by little, needs more time, and ultimately costs more. But this is just the beginning of what we invest into bringing a superior pedal to the market. We equipped ourselves with a latest-technology in-house pedal manufacturing centre. Employing 4.5 Axis CNC machines, PCD Diamond cutting tools from the leading automotive supplier in Germany, and Swiss-made fixtures, we have spared no expense to develop and improve on our pedal platform.

Because we specifically designed our own new complete manufacturing lines to satisfy our need for a superior pedal, we can now achieve tolerances and consistency normally reserved for the aerospace industry.

BA R S Super-6 Aluminum is a specially blended, highly magnesium-silicon enriched, work hardened alloy that offers the perfect mix of hardness, yield, fatigue life, and a superior ultimate tensile strength to standard 6 series alloys. It is ideal for the creation of thin walled, super stiff handlebars. Through recent adoption of Super-6 materials, SPANKâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s SPIKE, and OOZY handlebars are now stronger, and show greater resistance to deformation than ever before.

Processes such as extrusion, forging and tube drawing can increase the strength of alloy materials by reducing the grain size. SPANK uses state of the art proprietary metal forming methods which further improve grain size consistency and orientation, and significantly reduce grain size beyond that of our competitors. No other bars or rims are subjected to the number of drawing steps or level of refinement as those offered by SPANK. This leads to greater ultimate strength, toughness, and ductility ... meaning confidence, comfort and safety.

SPANK went the extra mile in our handlebar production facility by investing in automated Three Dimensional CNC Bending machines, which offer better symmetry and consistency, and more importantly limit material structural damage during the bending process. The precision of 3D CNC Bending in a single fixture allows SPANK to optimize our designs. The process eliminates the need for heavy grinding process, making our bars lighter, stronger, and safer.

VIBROCORE™ VIBRATION DAMPING CORE

Dual XGT technology tapers our bars from the thickest area at the bar clamping zone, slowly and gradually through the bend zones, to the thinnest areas at the control zones and back to the thicker reinforced barend zones, or “Impact Ends”.

Like all forms of energy, the vibrational energy that is transmitted through your bars to your hands, is made up of waves, which can be measured in amplitude and frequency. Vibrocore™ is a complex, low density material which fills the core of the handlebar, reducing the frequency, amplitude, and duration of energy waves. SPANK‘s Vibrocore™ system also acts to reinforce the handlebar from the inside, resulting in a more responsive performance and improved sensitivity. The result is a handlebar that feels incredibly strong and rigid, and acts to reduce impulse and vibrational fatigue.

This precision process eliminates stress zones where breaks can occur. SPANK has utilized FEA (Finite Element Analysis), laboratory, and rigorous real world testing to optimize the spread of material to where it is needed to withstand the specific forces at work in each zone, while offering better protection against crashes than ever before.

Testing with World Cup DH racers like Mick and Tracey Hannah has shown that by reducing the “white noise“ vibration from riding, Vibrocore™ handlebars enhance tactile sensitivity between rider, bike, and terrain, while reducing fatigue.
