Kevin Bond The Fine Art of Kissing You feel a warm tingling sense in your chest, and each time that you breathe you feel your shoulders become more weightless. You lock lips with her. Your lips are warm from her lips and you are fine. You run your hands across her body, feeling every smooth curve. A chill runs down your spine and you push yourself against her body. My mother kisses my father as if she is holding on for her very life. She looks into his eyes as they kiss, wondering about their relationship. She attempts to pull him closer but he nudges her off. She runs her hands through his hair but he grabs her wrist to push her away. She inches towards him and kisses him on the cheek, neck and looks longingly into his eyes. She might have been thinking. Why is this happening? Or why did I choose to be with this man? Perhaps she was thinking that she could revive the relationship. She takes one last look at him and kisses him sadly. Her words don’t matter to him. Maybe a kiss might do the trick. My father stares at my mother when she kisses him. He feels confused and misguided. When she tries to pull him closer he pushes her away because he doesn’t know what he wants. When my mother pulls him closer, he steps away. I think he often dreams of being with someone else because he is bored with his
relationship. Maybe he is having a midlife crisis? When he kisses my mom he doesn’t feel much besides her longing for his attention and love, but he has none to give to her. Where my mother kisses with love he kisses with no emotion. I feel amazing when I kiss the person I love. Warmth, joy and serenity overcome any obstacle I may face. I feel so at ease when my girlfriend kisses me. It must be the way her lips feel when they press against mine. The world seems to disappear when we kiss. At times I may feel frustrated, but whenever I get a kiss from my girlfriend and we entwine our hands my problems melt away. I am madly in love with her. Kissing expresses one’s love or care towards another person. From grandparents kissing their grandkids to two lovers who are passionate about each other, or two friends who kiss to show that they care for each other. Kissing has taken many forms through history, whether it be the erotic kissing from the Kama Sutra or the when the Romans started to spread kissing as a way to show respect and love. At any given moment in time there are probably millions of people kissing: from two young lovers in France to a little old couple who is sitting in the swamplands of Louisiana. Kissing in America can be looked down upon especially if it is a daughter kissing her father out of love or respect. While for instance if a
daughter kisses her father in Italy it is seen as respect and love. The reasons for kissing have evolved over time, but the methods and dynamics of kissing have not changed. For through time kissing will be seen as a way for others to express love, care and respect. Some may pervert the meaning of kissing, but in general kissing will rule as a prime way to show affection and respect.
