BIKE SHARING
Company Background Launched in Dublin in 2018, MOBY is a mobility company focused on electric bike sharing and infrastructure solutions for cities to enable sustainable mobility. In 2019, the company won one of only two licences to operate a bike sharing scheme in Dublin and now operates Dublin's first dockless electric bike scheme. During the first half of 2020 4,000 users of the service completed over 10,000 journeys on the bikes in Dublin, a remarkable number given that there were far fewer tourists in Dublin due to Covid-19 and many people were forced to work from home.
Campaign Description MOBY launched their equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding platform in October 2020 with a view to raising €300,000. The campaign launched with €200,000 committed from private contacts of the MOBY founder. Within 4 days, the campaign had reached 100% of its target amount, attracting investment from a pool of Irish and international investors. After 12 days a MOBY webinar for Spark Investors attracted over 130 attendees and in the following days additional investment brought the campaign to over €500,000. Funds continued to flow into the campaign after an email to the Spark database highlighted 7 Reasons to Invest in MOBY, not least of which was the EIIS status of the company, which gives investors a 40% tax rebate on their investment in the year after they invest. With very strong main stream media coverage for the campaign, amplified across the Spark and MOBY social media channels, notably LinkedIn and Twitter, the campaign reached a figure of just over €795,000 after 30 days. 277 Investors invested in the campaign for an average amount of €2,870.

FOOD SOFTWARE
Company Background DigiTally is a software product that combines a counting app with a reporting dashboard that enables businesses to count, collate, and report on their food gross profit margins, reduce food waste, improve internal operational efficiency and increase margins between 1% and 4.1%. Launched in Co Galway in 2018, the SAAS company has secured contracts with many of the leading contract catering and convenience store brands in Ireland and the UK, including Spar, Londis, Crowne Plaza and Abrakebabra.
Campaign Description DigiTally launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding platform in September 2020 with a view to raising €200,000. The campaign took a little while to spark interest amongst retail investors due to the B2B nature of the product and the relative complexity in understanding the scale of the opportunity. After two weeks, one investor with specialist knowledge of this sector came forward and requested a private presentation with the Founder of DigiTally, which was also attended by senior Spark executives. This resulted in a €75,000 commitment to invest in the campaign, which brought it close to 50% of its target. Shortly thereafter, a dedicated DigiTally webinar for over 100 Spark investors resulted in further small to medium sized investments in the campaign, the combination of which brought to campaign to over 100% of its target with 10 days remaining. A final email to the Spark database of investors highlighting the reasons to consider an investment in DigiTally saw the campaign close on time and at 143% of its target. 57 Investors invested in the campaign for an average amount of €5,017.

EQUINE TRADING
Company Background Launched in Co Kerry in 2020, HorsePay is the world’s first online equine trading platform. In addition to operating as a marketplace where buyers and sellers can transact, HorsePay uniquely enables safe and secure equine trading payments. It provides an escrow and warranties so both parties know the transaction is secure. 73% of equine transactions are “peer to peer” with no payment protection or recourse from scams. HorsePay’s payment technology addresses this issue by offering escrow facilities for up to 7 days, in a global, undigitised industry worth €278bn annually. Where previously a horse buyer would have been exposed to receiving a horse in poorer condition that expected, the HorsePay platform ensures no funds are released to the seller until the buyer is satisfied that the condition of the horse is what was promised by the seller.
Campaign Description HorsePay launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding platform in October 2020 with a view to raising €100,000. Almost €20,000 was secured within the first 5 days of the campaign going live. The company then engaged in a highly effective digital marketing campaign aimed at those with an interest in the equine industry and this resulted in relatively small, but continual, investments into the campaign. As a B2C business, HorsePay was also able to promote the campaign to its own database of users, many of whom were also interested in becoming shareholders in the business. After 14 days, the Founder of HorsePay presented the investment opportunity to the Spark database of investors and this resulted in the campaign achieving its target with 7 days to spare. A follow-up email to the Spark database of investors highlighting the investment opportunity saw the campaign achieve 120% of its target when it closed after 30 days. 136 Investors invested in the campaign for an average amount of €882.

DOG TREATS
Company Background Based in Dublin, BusterBox is a monthly subscription service in which dog owners receive a box of toys, treats and accessories delivered to their house for their pet. The company was launched in mid-2017 and at the time of their crowdfunding campaign had 6,000 subscribers paying €21 per month. This equates to Monthly Recurring Revenue of €120,000 or €1.5m per annum. Busy professionals find that sourcing the perfect products for their dogs is time consuming and expensive. BusterBox solves this problem by removing the need to travel to the pet show and delivers a unique experience of happiness to dogs and their owners on a monthly basis.
Campaign Description BusterBox launched their equity crowdfunding campaign in September 2020. As a B2C platform with 6,000 loyal monthly subscribers and a wider email database of over 45,000 email addresses, built up over 3 years, BusterBox was in a highly advantageous position when it came to promoting its crowdfunding campaign to a receptive audience. As an incentive to users of the service to also become shareholders in the business, BusterBox offered their members a free months’ order for every €100 invested in the business, and the response rate to this was very positive. Half-way through the campaign the company was also able to report a significant increase in the number of subscribers due to travel limitations imposed by Covid-19. The campaign achieved its target with 9 days to spare and eventually reached 111% of its target. A total of 82 investors invested an average of €2,030 in this campaign.

Company Background HaloSOS is a software company with a patented solution that revolutionises staff safety across the globe. Specifically, it protects hotel staff in both personal safety and mass-crisis events. Not only does HaloSOS protect people, it also safeguards a brand's valuable reputation and results in fewer costly legal cases.
Campaign Description HaloSOS launched their equity crowdfunding campaign in July 2020. Prior to formally launching the campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding website, the Founders of HalaSOS participated in a pre-launch private webinar for Spark Crowdfunding investors. Their pitch impressed a consortium of investors who offered to take the full allocation of €100,000 that was being made available to investors even before the campaign went live. These investors eventually invested €80,000 into the business and the campaign achieved over 100% of its target within the first few days of going live. Another webinar was held for Spark investors during the campaign which saw the campaign eventually achieve 159% of its target. A total of 45 investors invested in this campaign for an average investment amount of €3,535.

AVIATION SOFTWARE
Company Background Based in Dublin and founded by three Aer Lingus pilots, Frequency is an innovative internet-based communication and collaboration platform for the aviation industry. The new service reduces delays, reduces costs and improves safety for an airline. Delays cost airlines over €22bn annually. Airlines use an overly complicated web of 8 - legacy, predominately analog - communication channels on a daily basis. Frequency is building the first, aviation operations specific, communication and collaboration platform that is ptimised for delay and disruption management. Founded on domain expertise, by three airlines pilots with over 40 years of flying experience and developed by a formidable programming team, Frequency allows real time information sharing and distributed decision making, across the airlines operations, so that the right decisions are arrived at sooner.
Campaign Description Frequency launched their equity crowdfunding campaign in early July 2020. In advance of their campaign, Frequency had secured the backing of a Venture Capital Fund for €200,000 and Spark investors were offered the opportunity to invest in Frequency on the same terms as the VC fund. In late June, prior to formally launching the campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding website, the Founders of Frequency participated in a pre-launch private webinar for Spark Crowdfunding investors. Their pitch impressed a consortium of investors who agreed to invest €100,000 in the campaign. When the campaign then went live in July the campaign achieved over 80% of its target within the first few days of going live. Another webinar was held for Spark investors during the campaign and a number of emails were sent to the Spark database of investors which saw the campaign eventually achieve 108% of its target, albeit after a longer than usual campaign length. A total of 75 investors invested in this campaign for an average investment amount of €5,053.

SALES SOFTWARE
Company Background Motarme has developed an innovative web-based solution for Sales Prospecting and Sales Lead Generation for Business-to-Business (B2B) companies. Based in Co Galway, the company is focused on a new approach called “Account Based Marketing” or ABM which generates higher value sales opportunities. Based in Co Donegal, Motarme incorporates Machine Learning technology in their system to further accelerate lead generation. Backed by Enterprise Ireland, the company has some strong reference customers. The Motarme solution helps businesses to find the best companies to target for their products and then the right person at these companies to contact.
Campaign Description Motarme launched their equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark platform in February 2020. Despite the B2B nature of the product, the campaign generated early interest amongst investors looking to get exposure to SAAS businesses with high growth potential. Investors are generally also interested in investing in Enterprise Ireland backed companies where EI are providing matched funding and that also resonated with investors. Following a well-attended virtual presentation by the Founder of Motarme to Spark investors and a follow-up email setting out the investment opportunity, the campaign achieved 100% of its target after 36 days, but remained open for another eight days to accommodate a small number of investors who needed additional information before committing. A total of 62 investors invested in this campaign for an average investment amount of €1,890.

RECYCLING
Company Background Accucolour has developed a liquid additive and a control method to allow the fast-track recycling of plastic bottles. Plastic bottles are made from a polymer called PET, which can take 450 years to degrade. The majority of these bottles will end up in land-fill, although some are incinerated and some end up in the ocean. Accucolour had created a patented solution in the form of an additive which, when combined with shredded PET waste, produced recycled bottles of superior strength and quality. Based in Co Laois, Accucolour has already received grant-aid support from the European Union Horizon 2020 Programme. It is also an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) company.
Campaign Description Accucolour launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding platform in November 2019, with a view to raising €200,000. As a patent-protected product that assists greatly in reducing plastic waste at a global level the campaign immediately resonated with investors who typically support businesses of this nature. Following an Investor Presentation at the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin that was attended by over 100 Spark investors the campaign quickly achieved its target and by extending the campaign by a few weeks the campaign was 160% funded by the close. 64 Investors invested in the campaign for an average amount of €5,012.

CAMPSITE FINDER
Company Background Campsited was born out of a personal experience founder Finán O’Donoghue had on a trip with his wife and young son. Playing outside in the wilds with his son one day while on the trip, he realised he didn’t really know the little man. All because of a hectic work life. In that moment it was just him, his son and Mother Nature. Basic, pure and simple. An avid camper himself, Finán's experience searching online for campsites was excruciatingly fragmented and frustrating. Speaking with people afterwards, he was troubled by the number who had the same painful experience. So, he decided to do something about it, and got to work creating Campsited, to be the easiest way for people to find and book campsites throughout the world.
Campaign Description Campsited launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on the Spark Crowdfunding platform in October 2018 with a view to raising €250,000. The full target was reached within 28 days of the campaign going live. Using a clever combination of email marketing, social media marketing and newspaper coverage, the campaign was seen by a broad range of target investors, throughout Ireland and the UK.
