’ Today we welcome Ryan and his players to Ainslie Park. It’s been a long time since Forfar last visited Ainslie Park and there is no doubt in our minds that it will be a very different Forfar side we come up against today. Forfar have recruited well during the lockdown period and will arrive feeling confident after some positive results. We will have to be at our very best to ensure we secure our first three points of the new season. Last weekend we travelled west to face a determined Celtic team. The last three fixtures have felt like groundhog day with us narrowly missing out on securing a draw or even a win. Our defensive performance should not go unnoticed as the heart and desire everyone has shown is nothing short of remarkable. I’ve came away from every fixture with a heart full of pride. Yes, we haven't secured any points but our ability to limit chances and defend well gives us plenty of confidence moving forward. The squad has been boosted with two new signings over the past seven days. Our recruitment strategy may have been seen from the outside as lacking over the summer months however we knew we had to be patient in securing the quality we wanted. Kat Smart joins us from Celtic Women and Louise Mason returns home from Hearts Women. Both are vastly experienced and will add a huge amount of value to what is already an extremely talented group of players. Providing competition in training has always been an important part of our DNA here at Spartans and I look forward to watching the positive impact both players will bring on and off the pitch. Finally, Shannon Todd departed the club last week. As ever, it’s always difficult to say goodbye to a player and we wish Shannon all the best in her new journey with Partick Thistle Women.

Thank you for your continued support this afternoon, and even though you can’t be with us, we really do appreciate everyone being right behind us. We hope to welcome you back to Ainslie Park soon! #DBDF

The Alternative School wins a Social Enterprise World Forum Award Over the past year students have worked with National Galleries Scotland producing art work. In partnership with the Social Enterprise Academy the art was used to create a social enterprise that has raised money for local charity, U-Evolve.

Student Bethany Marshall commented: "We created artwork using paint and footballs. We then learnt how to use photoshop and to create digital drawings that became designs for our mugs. The mugs were then sold to raise money for UEvolve. This was our chosen charity for our social enterprise ‘Creative Collaborations’. We have been working on this since February 2020 to raise awareness of young male mental health. Despite Covid-19 we continued to develop the social enterprise." The project was featured in a special edition of The Big Issue. As part of the social enterprise students sold 50 copies of The Big Issue and 100 mugs featuring the art work. "Creative Collaborations" was recently awarded Global Goals and Good Health and Wellbeing certificates at the Social Enterprise World Forum. A limited number of mugs (£10) and copies of The Big Issue are still available. To purchase, please contact emmaeaston@spartanscfa.com

Arthur McKay extend partnership as principal home jersey sponsor The Spartans are delighted to announced Arthur McKay have generously agreed to continue as our main home strip sponsor. Arthur McKay are a leading UK building support services provider who offer one of the best M&E, FM and Networks solutions in the industry and were founded in Edinburgh in 1958. This is the 9th year Arthur McKay have graced the Spartans playing kit, with their debut back in October 2011 for the Scottish Cup 2nd Round trip north to Culter.

Arthur McKay’s Development Director Brian McFarlane visited Ainslie Park earlier this week to view this season’s new Macron strip, proudly displaying the company logo on the front and he explained a little on why the firm was pleased to continue their partnership. Brian McFarlane from Arthur McKay said “I am pleased that Arthur McKay have shown their enthusiasm to continue the long history we have with Spartans. If I’m honest, it was probably less about the football itself but more about what the club does in providing for and helping kids in North Edinburgh that was the catalyst behind supporting Spartans for another year. “A lot of the charity engagement we are involved in has been within the local community and Ainslie Park itself. There definitely is a significant degree of synergy between what we and Spartans do.” “We’re pleased that the Club’s Captain Adam Corbett chose Arthur McKay’s Apprentice Scheme to pursue his career ambitions and we’re very much about supporting the local community when we look to take on staff and projects too.” Spartans Chairman Craig Graham said “We are once again very grateful to Brian and the team at Arthur McKay for their ongoing and much appreciated support.”
