INTRODUCTION Process Safety Management Conference for the Chemical, Petrochemical, & Refining Industries aims at being the premier event offering knowledge on the evolution of risk mitigation and safety processes, featuring an overview of safety challenges and issues affecting refineries and petrochemical plants. Attendees will learn the latest regulatory concerns as well as tools to improve Progress Safety Management (PSM) efforts. The conference will be based on a dynamic presentation format consisting of workshops, panel discussions and case studies. By attending this conference, those involved in the chemical, petrochemical, and refining industries will be able to infuse a process safety culture through technology, hazard analysis and organizational discipline. Conference topics cover a wide range of subjects relevant to the current needs of industry satisfying the critical needs of process safety practitioners more broadly and deeply than any other conference in the region. Topics include the role of leadership on developing a culture for world class process safety performance , process safety skills management, Process safety human errors, incidents investigation & lessons learned, PSM Culture, Process safety training and skills building, PSM best practices and Process safety risk assessment and control.
Specific Topics include: yy yy yy yy yy yy yy yy
Creating an engineering culture of HSE through Design: A Multi National Perspective Process Safety and Human Error Process Safety awareness, training and skills building Process Safety risk assessment and analysis using different methods: PHRA, HAZOP , HAZAN, SIL, etc. Process Safety Audit and Inspection Process Safety Standards and Procedures. WORKSHOP : 3 OCTOBR 2013 PROCESS SAFETY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP This workshop provides an overview of process safety fundamentals for hydrocarbon processing facilities. The focus of this workshop is techniques for analyzing and mitigation process safety hazard applicable to hydrocarbon processing industries will be reviewed. Integration of the risk assessments concepts covered to achieve a measurable approach to process safety hazard control is a key aim of this course. Part One: • Overview and Course Objectives • Fundamentals of Process Risk Assessment • Process risk analysis methods. • Process Hazard Analysis Techniques-Overview • The Fire and Explosion Index and Chemical Exposure Index. • Group exercise • Demonstrate how process risk analysis tools can be used effectively to apply the principles of inherently safety design. Part Two: • the second part will be about Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP)as process hazards analysis (PHA) methods for identifying hazardous scenarios • What are Hazop & HAZOP studies?
• • •
COURSE LEADER Patberg, Willem B. Process Safety Consultant
How to do a HAZOP Study? What to do with the HAZOP outcomes? Group Exercise.
Part Three: • Introduction to Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA). • The layer of protection (LOPA) concept-what the different layers are and how they are applied • Independent protection layers • LOPA methodology & who conducts LOPA? • Developing LOPA scenarios& using LOPA to evaluate risk? • Limitations of LOPA • Group exercise related to LOPA technique. Timing: One Day 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
