Paradise of Love and Pain Kehbuma Langmia
“Paradise of Love and Pain is a remarkably captivating story by a writer with an impressive depth for narrative storytelling that rewards the reader with a story that will stay in their memory long after they are done reading. Set in fictional city of Yoda, Cameroon, the novel is a drama that transcends period and culture involving family, romance, relationships, pain, culture, and spirituality. From the very first page, you are drawn into the drama as layers of a family’s love, lies, secrets, and betrayal are artfully peeled away page after page. As the narrative plays out it expresses an important message about the consequences of the choices we make. The novel highlights how a single random encounter can influence the trajectory of so many lives. NEW What God Has Put Asunder Victor Epie’Ngome
What God Has Put Asunder sounds like a misquote of Mark 10:9, the biblical consecration of marriage. But can a marriage fraught with infidelity, violence and abuse be considered as put together by God? Weka does not think so. She had reluctantly settled for Miche Garba as the lesser evil of two suitors who were being foisted on her by the authorities of the orphanage where she grew up. They stonewalled against her pleas to be on her own, claiming it would make her vulnerable. Or were they afraid she might become a permanent liability to the orphanage?

Victor Epie’Ngome is a veteran journalist. He served as a correspondent with the BBC and later became a producer in Bush House as well as editor, writer/publisher for several newspapers and magazines.
Garba turns out a cheating, unloving partner, squandering on his many concubines, the proceeds from the farms and lands Weka inherited from her late parents, while neglecting her upkeep and her children’s. At the height of the disaffection, Weka runs off with her children to rehabilitate her family estate. Having failed to forcefully bring them back, Garba sues Weka for abandoning her conjugal home. Will the court sunder the marriage of inconvenience? And would it help matters if Weka’s full name were “West Kamerun”? This should unmask other ticket names like Sister Sabeth and Father UNOR. For these two What God Has Put Asunder is a call-out for double standards. Can they belatedly remedy the injustice of denying Weka the separate status which they granted, at the same time, to many other damsels who, to date, are far less endowed and more vulnerable than she was? “Victor Epie Ngome’s What God Has Put Asunder is perhaps the most powerfully apt metaphor on what has been called “the Anglophone problem in Cameroon” … The play is frightfully accurately predictive of the outcome of the 1961 so-called Reunification of Southern Cameroons and La République du Cameroun.” — Godfrey B. NEW Basel Mission Education in Cameroon 1886-1968 Mathew B. Gwanfogbe
This volume examines the relationships between the German colonial administration, the Basel Mission, the British Baptist Missionary Society and other missionary societies that characterized the setting up of Basel Mission education in Cameroon against the backdrop of intense rivalry. Spanning a period of 82 years, the book meticulously documents the kick off, expansion and elaboration of the Basel Mission’s efforts to institutionalise education as well as its objectives and operational modalities. Basel Mission Education in Cameroon deepens our understanding of European imperialism and its legacy in postcolonial societies. Policy makers and educationists in Cameroon and Africa at large will find this volume very instructive as they forge educational systems that serve the needs of current and future generations of Africans. Ceded at Dawn identifies and examines decolonization as the principal source of the smoldering tension that persisted between the two former United Nations Trust Territories in Cameroon which finally exploded into an armed conflict in 2017. French Cameroon (now the Republic of Cameroon) was decolonized while the decolonization of British Cameroons was abandoned unfinished. The international experiment on independence by joining was an exceptional route selected for the decolonization of British Southern Cameroons and was defended with the untenable arguments that British Southern Cameroons was too small and too poor to be granted sovereign independence...

book argues that since the emergence of the Cameroon National Union (CNU) and the one-party state in 1966, Cameroonians have progressively degenerated into the syndrome of collective amnesia inspired by a culture of sycophancy, glorifying and deifying political leadership. These developments stand in stark contrast to what obtained in the nascent Southern Cameroons – the UN Trust territory administered by Britain until 1961 when its population voted overwhelmingly by 70.5% to gain their independence by establishing a federation with the then French-speaking Republic of Cameroon. From the late 1950s until the dismantling of the Cameroon Federation, Southern Cameroons and later West Cameroon had a vibrant parliament, a House of Chiefs (or Senate), an independent Judiciary, an ideal, corruption-free Public Service, a state government with ministers presided over by an Executive Prime Minister and, for a decade, West Cameroon provided the Vice Presidency for the Federal Republic of Cameroon. In what may be accurately described as Prof Anthony Ndi’s seminal work, he contends and rightly so that solutions to the legion of problems that plague contemporary Cameroon may be easily found in the pages of The Golden Age of Southern Cameroons. Agents for this transformation do not have to be invented or imported from Mars; all we need is a patriotic spirit, political will, readiness to dialogue, transparency and commitment to democracy. In this book, Prof Ndi has adopted a style, diction and humour, which excites the intellect and awakens minds to a lane of true redemption. The Golden Age of Southern Cameroons is a historical masterpiece for nation building.” − Confidence Chia Ngam, University of Bamenda TABLE OF CONTENTS

Illustrations in the book cut across developed and developing countries. This book is a must-read for curriculum developers and practicing educators in order to avoid the errors of the past.
