Performing Artists LIVE ITALIAN MUSIC, FOLK DANCE, THEATRE AND MORE, Free for all to enjoy! These are the great performing artists that will be at Festa this year.

Tenor Marcus Shelton Popular local tenor and a former “young artist” with Seattle Opera.

Bob Bailey III Our Grape Stomp caller, also known as “Doc Bailey” loves to make Seattle laugh. Around the world he’s a comedy star but at home he’s just a funny guy from Ballard.

Seattle Mandolin Orchestra Returning to Festa year after year, this large and unique ensemble plays beautiful Italian music on mandolins of myriad sizes.

The Primo Basso Band Led by Lenny Luzzi and Tom Falcone of the Rigatones and featuring a “hot” Italian singer, this five-piece combo plays every year at “The Great Italian Festival” in Reno, Nevada.

Mbrascatu This popular indie band from Portland, Oregon will only be playing on Sunday this year. With their songs sung in the Calabrese dialect, this is “Tarantella Rock” at its finest!

Tony La Stella Mamma Mia! Local Italian-American tenor Tony La Stella and his band play Saturday night and then backup the Festa “All-Star” Jam Session. This you don’t want to miss!

Danny Quintero “Danny Q.” is known throughout the NW as a great Sinatra-like song stylist. When not fronting a 16-piece Big Band at nightclubs like Tula’s, he shows off his silky voice in more intimate gigs with a quartet.

Julie Cascioppo Seattle’s “Sicilian Diva” entertains audiences worldwide. When in Seattle, she’s usually at Vito’s or similar intimate cabarets. At Festa, Julie loves to play to her Italian side, performing songs from her childhood.

Fortissimo! Known for many years as “Seattle’s Three Tenors,” these singers have been show-stoppers at Festa for over 18 years. Marcus Shelton, Chai Ahrenius and Steve Wall, brilliant operatic talents in their own right are awesome together! Always a standing ovation.

Ballard Sedentary Sousa Band Early Saturday afternoon on the Moretti Mainstage, The Ballard Sedentary Sousa Band presented classic Italian marches including the “March of the Bersaglieri” and “A Frangesa,” as well as excerpts from “Aida” and “il Trovatore.” Guaranteed to wake you up!

The RigaTones Lenny Luzzi and Tom Falcone always draw big crowds with their tunes and high-energy antics. Watch for them each afternoon in the big Wine & Beer Garden with everyone singing along. Now, That’s Amore! Ce La Luna Mezzo Mare – Lenny Luzzi, The RigaTones

La Mezzanotte Trio Consisting of Bonnie Birch, Nick Heiting and Paul Ostler, they’ll appear in both the Wine Garden and on the Moretti Mainstage accompanying Fortissimo! Hear musical samples and learn all about them at their website.

The Porcaro Group Now a regular on the Moretti Mainstage, Rob Porcaro hails from Toronto, Canada and has been singing since he was 9 years old. In the late 60’s, he fronted the legendary “Thin Red Line” and immigrated with them to Seattle where he now sings at festivals like the Bite of Seattle the Taste of Tacoma and the San Gennaro Festival.

The Tarantellas Richard Sclafani and Pete Cicero were lifelong musicians who grew up in Italian-American families in Seattle. They were musical “paesans” for 30 years until Peter’s passing two years ago. He has been ably replaced by guitarist Juan Barco.

Spotlight Repertory NW A Festa first – opera for kids! Spotlight Rep presents a short and light-hearted version of Humperdinck’s opera “Hansel & Gretel” with a witch that has to be seen to be believed! Saturday and Sunday, with two performances each day in Tino’s Cortile. Sponsored in part by grants from the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, and EACEF.

Roberta Del Monte Appearing for the first time at Festa, Roberta was born and raised in the Abruzzo region of Italy. She has been singing since she was a child in church. Her unique voice and pleasant charm will capture your heart and invite you to immerse yourself in traditional and modern Italian classics.

Bocce Tournament

Grape Stomp heats take place on the roof of the Fisher Pavilion, on both Saturday and Sunday, starting at

12:30 pm. The last heat takes place at approximately 4:30 pm.

Stomp Rules

Stomp Requirements

• • • • •

Stompers must use bare feet. Only one team member may stomp at a time. Each four-minute heat allows 3 minutes of stomping and 1 minute of juice collecting. A five-gallon jug will be used to collect the juice. The collected juice will be measured by the judge, encouraged by the audience.

• Each team consists of three participants. • Each participant must be 15 years of age or older and in good health. • Each team member must sign the Grape Stomp Registration and Waiver. • Each team must submit an entry fee of $30 (plus possessing fee of $2.49 per team.)

This year, the Oberto Bocce tournament is back again in its original location in the Seattle Center Pavilion. We invite your club

or organization to participate in the tournament with as many teams of four as you wish. As always, this will be a double-elimination contest.

Tournament Format

Recreational For teams that play on a casual basis or spur of the moment this category plays every year on Saturday. Masters For teams that regularly play together in most tournaments this category plays every year on Sunday.

• Play will begin each day at 9:00 am and all teams must be registered by 9:00 am. Latecomers may forfeit their chance to play after that time. • The Bocce committee reserves the right to reassign a team to another category if necessary. You will be advised by phone if this occurs.

Categories

Many players find it hard to be available for a two-day tournament, therefore we plan to break it into two categories similar to previous years. You are asked to place your team in one of the following categories:
