Issue #7 Vol. 1
Written in part by the students of Domingo Trevino Middle School of La Joya ISD.
There often times when a young person says that they cannot write. Writing is an art that takes skill. These children are getting the skills they deserve to be prepared for writing in high school and college. Novice writers are my favorite. I asked Santa this year for our students to write and believe that they were good at it. There is always room for growth. Watch us grow. We hope you enjoy our kiddos’ wishful thinking. Happy Holidays from all of us at Speechless in the RGV. ~ Esmerada Noyola, Editor

Dear Santa, When people think of families, they think of a mom, a dad, children and a dog. I have a small family. It’s just my mom and I. We are alone, but not lonely. I really deserve a typical family. My mother and I both do. This year I would like a dad as my gift. I’ve been really good this year and have gone above and beyond in my school work. We had to move into my grandparent’s house this year because my grandpa was very sick with cancer. I had to move to another city away from my friends and I didn’t complain. Though I miss having my own room, I respected that we needed to help my grandma. Now that my grandpa died they needed me more than ever. I know I’m just a 10-year-old girl, but a big way I can help my mom and grandma is with chores, reading, and minding them at all times. This gives them one less thing to worry about. I’ve gotten really good grads all year, A’s and B’s in fact. If I had a dad to help me with my homework and attend my UIL events I’d be more motivated to continue on this awesome grade streak. Sure, my mother goes sometimes, but since she’s the sole bread winner in our home she has to work most of the time. She’s tiered most nights, so it’s hard for her to help me out. When she does, it’s kind of like having a zombie mother. Still, she tries and so do I. I put my best into everything I do in school to give my mom a feeling of pride in me. I work real hard in both school and home, that’s why it is only fair that I get a real involved loving male role model, like a Dad this Holiday. in mind.
I just need you to give him a
little nudge, Santa. Love always, Anonymous

Dear Santa, Motorcycle bikes insurance is only $99 a year and gas is 98 cents per gallon. I really deserve a gift this year because, I passed all my classes and I haven’t gotten in a fight all year. I’ve passes all my classes even math Mr. Cuardos class which is my hardest subject ever but I still do my best to pass math and I do great because I pass all the tests he gives me. I haven’t gotten in a fight all year, they tell me stuff but I just ignore them and walk away, they hit me and I just take a big breath and just walk away from them. I haven’t gotten in a fight all year and I’m passing all my classes this is why I deserve a BMX motorcycle bike this year. It is on sale half off ‘Ducati superbike 848 EVO Corse CE at www.motorcycle USA.com. Sincerely, Xitlali Cordova

Dear Santa, Research shows that a tablet raises test scores of children. I always pass all my classes and always helped my mom that’s why I deserve a Tablet. When my mother was sick I made her food and did her work. I helped cut the lawn, wash the dishes etc. I will help more be nicer and get more good grades, if you get me the Tablet.
