Nelle steppe dell’Asia Centrale Seconda spedizione del CIRS nei deserti carsici della Mongolia Rosario Ruggieri CIRS Ragusa In August 2006 the CIRS Ragusa carried out a speleological expedition with reconnaissance in karst areas of ďŹ ve Provinces. The caves documented in Dornogov Gobi were two, one of which, the Tsagaan Deliin cave, shows wide mineralization due to hydrothermal phenomena. Three caves were explored in the Omnogov-south Gobi, one in the granite rock, used as temple, the second one parakarst in the slates rocks, the third one (Lovon Chombo) with genesis type geode for the wide presence of calcite crystals. Four caves were explored in the eastern range of Gobi-Altai, the most important of which, Tsagaan Agui, showing genesis as geode, is object of archaeological research for the discovering of Palaeolithic artefacts. Two caves were

explored in the Province of Zavhan, one of which with wide phreatic/vadose morphologies. At last, one cave (Khurts), in advanced state of erosion, was explored in the northern region of Hovsgol, the most interesting area both as karst potential and extension of limestone outcropping of the Mongolia.
