Spelman Family Weekend Program 2018

Page 1

Greetings

W

elcome to the Spelman College annual Parents Weekend. Spring semester is well under way and the campus is alive with the activities of Spelmanites who are completely engaged in classwork and the myriad activities that comprise life on the Spelman campus. Whether it’s a research project with faculty, rehearsals with our world-renowned Spelman Glee Club, the projects that have come out of our Innovation Lab, or a fitness program in our new Wellness Center, students are immersed in the experiences that will define them always and forever as Spelman sisters. This weekend we invite you to experience the richness of Spelman’s academic and social campus life. You will be able to attend classes, hear discussions of the extensive menu of study abroad programs, learn about ongoing research projects, and visit some of the College’s unique resources such as the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art. And, if you have any questions related to the business side of life at Spelman, please do not hesitate to ask. Our offices of financial aid, counseling and residence life will be available to provide you with any information you need. In the course of the weekend, I will present a State of the College address, highlighting how the College will navigate the key challenges and opportunities facing higher education in general and Spelman in particular. For the past several decades, Spelman has been on the ascent and we are in the process of launching our next strategic plan that will chart the College’s continued progress. As parents, you are our educational partners and I am eager to greet you and to thank you personally for sending us the extraordinary women we have the privilege of serving every day. Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D. President
