Your baby’s comfort and health are the fundamental driving factors of Spence Baby, which uses only 100% Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) certified premium organic cotton and bamboo fiber to produce our high quality and stylish baby apparel. But it doesn’t stop there; we even ensure that no harsh or toxic chemicals are present in the dyes used to make our original and timeless designs. ETHICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES Sustainability 99% of the organic cotton we use is Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) certified, while the other 1% is Organic Exchange (OE) certified. This certification is extremely important to us, as we know how common it has become for companies to claim “organic” status without actually being certified. At Spence Baby we also use a range of other ECO friendly and sustainably sourced fabrics, the best way to find out the fiber content is to read the product description on our website. Child Labor Using child labor would go against everything Spence Baby stands for. We have never and will never use child labor. Child labor is prevalent in large factories like Bangladesh, Brazil, Peru, China, Korea, Russia, Africa, India, Pakistan and even the USA. The factories and suppliers Spence Baby collaborates with, however, are required to adhere to a strict set of positive workplace criteria. If they don’t, we won’t do business with them, end of story. Not employing children is a key part of this agreement. In fact, we insist that any organization we work with develops or participates in programs that enable children to remain in quality education until they enter adulthood. Human trafficking and slave labor The well-being and human rights of all of Spence Baby’s partners in the supply chain is of utmost importance to us. We have our own Code of Conduct, based on the SA8000 code and the first clause states that employment must be freely chosen and we will tolerate no forced, bonded or involuntary labor.
