This program is a new, non-credit, professional development program that is available online and may be completed on a part-time basis. It provides learners with a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills that are essential to public health practitioners.

foundational + courses Each course comprises three hours of lecture per week for 13 weeks. All courses are delivered online. EXSPH 2200 - Introduction to Health Policy and Management What is the future of health care in Canada? This course examines the Canadian health system and policies within it. You are encouraged to formulate your own opinions and think critically about the development, organization, financing, delivery and management of the Canadian health system.
EXSPH 2205 - Integrating Public Health Principles into Practice Are you ready to bridge theory and practice? This seminar provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate the public health concepts, principles and theories you have learned, and apply those critical thinking skills to the field of public health.
EXSPH 2201 - Determinants of Health In this course, students use an ecological lens to understand what creates health for all. You will apply key social science theories to analyze the social determinants of health and the design of appropriate social actions to promote health and prevent disease.
EXSPH 2202 - Introduction to Environmental Health What role do environmental factors bear in influencing the health of a community? This course introduces environmental health issues and scientific understanding of their causes in developed and developing countries. You will also examine case studies of how environmental factors are managed in practice.
EXSPH 2203 - Statistical Methods in Public Health Biostatistics plays an integral role in public health research. In this course, you will develop a greater understanding of the basic biostatistical concepts and methods used in health science research.
EXSPH 2204 - Fundamentals of Epidemiology for Public Health In this course, you will learn key concepts in epidemiology, and have the opportunity to think critically about epidemiologic literature and its relation to public health issues. You will also learn how to effectively communicate epidemiologic evidence to various stakeholders.
