OFFICIAL JUBILEE PROGRAMME

FOR DISS

Diss Jubilee Celebrations The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations will take place 2nd to 5th June 2012. This will celebrate 60 years since the Queen’s coronation on 2nd June 1953. The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897 so this is a once in a lifetime chance to join with the whole country to commemorate this important milestone. As well as large events it is hoped that small celebrations such as street parties, fetes and exhibitions will be organised over the bank holiday weekend so that everyone can get involved.

Saturday 2nd June Party in the Park: This will involve local bands and performing groups that will show their talents on two stages in the park. One of the bands being Cataclysmics.

There will be a craft fair and lots of activities for both young and old to take part in.

Sunday 3rd June Big lunch event in the Park: The big lunch is a nationwide project set up by the Eden project back in 2009, the aim of the project is to bring together as many people to eat lunch as possible, we are hoping to fill the park with catering stands with foods from around the world and lots of different cultures.

We will bring in local people offering local products and services to our big lunch participants; we are going to have bands, raffles, races and games for all.

This whole day should be jam packed with fun for all and attract hundreds.

Monday 4th June Fireworks display: The fireworks will be let off over our wonderful mere and communities across the Country will light a total of 2012 beacons and Diss will take part lighting their own beacon on the park, there will be hot food, music and fun.

We are going to light up the skies with what promises to be a wonderful fireworks display, that will be a great ending to a weekend of Jubilee Celebrations.
