About this Guide
SPILLERS® unveiled Horse and Pony Cubes, the first ever compound feed, in the 1950’s. Modern horse feeding in the UK had arrived.
This booklet outlines SPILLERS® range of feeds; the most comprehensive in the UK. From feeds suitable for horses and ponies prone to laminitis, to precise control for competition riding, to the high energy requirements of a racing thoroughbred, each product has been carefully formulated and tested with specific nutritional objectives in mind. The following booklet will help to explain common feeding challenges and issues, and the SPILLERS® feeds that address them.

Feeding Guide Whether you have a top level competition horse or a family pony, nutrition will play a major part in the way your horse behaves, performs and looks. A diet that is correctly balanced, supplying the nutrients your horse needs will support long term health and well being.
How much to feed? Most horses should consume 1.5% to 2.5% of their bodyweight per day according to their condition and workload. This total should be divided between forage and hard feed, with forage making up at least 50% of the ration. Since forage can vary considerably, both hard feed and forage should be weighed regularly.
