NSW Accessible Toilets Project
National Public Toilet Map (NPTM) The NPTM provides locations for over 17,000 toilets for use by the public across Australia, including accessible toilets. Details include opening hours, availability of change tables, whether a toilet is left or right hand transfer, and more. Spinal Cord Injuries Australia has been working on a project to update the NPTM. We’ve added or updated more than 2,000 accessible toilets on the map.
To find a toilet visit toiletmap.gov.au, enter your location and filter by the features you need. If you find an accessible toilet that’s missing from the map, add it by visiting the map online, clicking “Suggest a toilet” and filling in the details. MLAK accessible toilet key Some accessible toilets are locked and display an MLAK symbol. MLAK is the Master Locksmiths Access Key system. MLAK is used all around Australia. Who is eligible and how to purchase People with a disability who have written authority from a doctor, disability organisation, local council or community health centre are eligible to purchase an MLAK key. You can purchase the key from a Master Locksmith in your local area (remember to take your written authority) or by sending an order form to the Master Locksmiths Association. The form is available at www.scia.org.au/access/public-toilets and keys typically cost $15-$20.
