F.A.Q. www.spin-photography.com
When should I have my senior photos taken? Living in East Texas, the heat is a major factor in this decision. Fall and early spring are the best times to take outdoor portraits. However, very early mornings can be done during the summertime. Booking sooner gives you a much better chance to have them done exactly when you want.
How long is this going to take? Usually 1-2 hours within the booked session time, we shoot until we “get the shot,” until we aren’t having fun anymore, or most commonly, we are so happily tired that we can’t move another inch.
Can I bring someone with me on the shoot? Of course! Bring mom, dad, friend or anyone else who is important to you. General rule is...bring whoever you need to make you be most YOU.
How do you pick the style or location where you shoot? The location is decided depending on the style and look you are after. Of course you can request a location. Feel free to email me photos of suggested locations, I love new places! My locations are near White Oak (within 20 mile radius), travel fees apply other areas. Areas frequently used are downtown Longview and Kilgore, Synergy Park, Maude Cobb, and a few fields I have permission to use.
I’ve seen photos online that I like – can we try something like that? Feel free to send me links...this tells me a lot about your style and the direction you want to go. I love getting new inspiration!
Props? Portraits taken with items that tell about your individual hobbies and interests personalize your pictures. For example, if you are into football, you could bring your jerseys, jacket, football, helmet, and anything else that is related to the activity. If you play music, you could bring your instrument. Well behaved pets are wonderful to incorporate in your photos! Anything you feel may be fun and unique to use like a special chair. If you are not sure about whether or not to bring something, keep in mind that we don’t have to use it, but at least we will have the option.

Makeup Go slightly brighter/heavier on your cheeks, eyes, and lips than you normally would. Make-up tends to look much more toned down in photos so in order for it to look like you are wearing any at all you need to go slightly heavier and colors that have a tiny bit more pop. Avoid glittery, shiny, or frosted products. Bring items necessary to do a touch up when needed (face powder, lipstick, etc.).
Grooming-Guys Guys, please shave carefully before your session. Ask someone to check if you missed any spots! Remember to trim up your neck area, too.
Hands Hands and nails should be clean and neatly groomed. Please check for chipping nail polish or dirt under the nails.
Blemishes Do not be concerned with blemish. These are easy to touched up.
Hair Be sure to bring a comb or a brush to touch up your hair. Guys getting a fresh haircut, you may want to get it at least a few days prior to the session.

What to Wear
Plan Ahead Don’t get up the morning of your senior portrait session and grab whatever crawls out from under the bed. Or simply whatever happens to be clean. You’re only going to have senior pictures done once, so take some time to plan. Girls, help minimize bra straps. Bring the appropriate type of bra for each outfit.
Check for wrinkles!!! Iron anything that needs it and keep it hung up nicely before the session. If you have pets, please use a lint roller if needed.
Variety Bring a variety of different looks. Most seniors bring 2-3 outfits. If we’re going to photograph you in four outfits, don’t bring four pairs of jeans and four t-shirts, unless that all you ever wear. A portable dressing room will be available.
Try Avoiding • Shiny, reflective, NEON fabrics • Plaids, loud prints, large patterns, stripes • Logos, shirts with advertising, oversized •
clothing Colors that are similar to your skin tone, they will wash you out
Solids Solid colors photograph better than patterns. Patterns take the eye of the viewer away from the face and to the clothing. You do not want to be in competition with your clothes in the photo. The first thing people notice should be you.
Accessories Jackets, hats, scarves, sunglasses, jewelry, etc. All help pull an outfit together. Think of layering your outfits with sweaters, jackets, or scarves
Capturing Who You Are Whether you’re an athlete, a hunter, music lover, or a dancer, I want your senior portraits to reflect your passion and activities you’re interested in. Let’s show you in your natural element by planning a session based on your interests, passions, and personal style.

The Perfect Edit Some photos benefit from artistic enhancements. Sunsets, lens flares, or seasonal leaf changes may be done to give the image a stunning finish. Basic portrait enhancements will be made by teeth whitening, brightening eyes, removing blemishes, softening skin, skin tone, removing small stray hairs, and smoothing shadows under the eyes if needed. My goal is to enhance your natural beauty‌. not change the way you look.
