Residental Life
RESIDENTIAL LIFE
Boarding students live in newly constructed residential houses designed for 12 students each, with two to a room. Each of the houses has a house parent. House parents host weekly meetings, each with a personal skills development theme, run by a resident and the house parent on a rotating basis.
House parents are trained to serve in loco parentis – which includes having basic first aid skills, understanding house management expectations and helping with personal matters as/when necessary. They are also called on to be a mentor, serve as a good listener and help with homework assignments. They set up field trips and and weekly excursions to local stores trips and collaborate with other house parents to create fun activities between the “houses”.
House parents work with students to identify and carry out local community projects that support organizations around the Geneva area. House parents regularly report to their student’s parents on how their child is doing as a resident within the SPIRE community.
