Choral Evensong for the Feast of All Angels
Saint Paul’s intergenerational choir of youth and adults will kick off the 2013-2014 season of Choral Evensong with a celebration of the Feast of All Angels. Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches throughout the world, Evensong is derived from the ancient offices of Vespers and Compline. Consisting of hymns, choral music, and readings, it is an opportunity for rest and meditation before the start of a busy week. Music by Howells, Noble, Sanders, and Parker. A reception will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome.

Five Fridays I: Music for Harp and Saxophone
Ann Stookey Memorial Organ Recital Saint Paul’s Director of Music Zach Hemenway will present a program of organ works that showcase the unique qualities of Saint Paul’s historic pipe organ. Freewill offering to support the Ann Stookey Fund for Music at Saint Paul’s Church.

Choral Evensong
Sung by the Trebles, Choral Scholars & Adult Choir, featuring music by Herbert Howells, Martin Neary, and Stephen Paulus. The choir will begin the candlelit service by singing Paulus’ haunting Pilgrim’s Hymn around Saint Paul’s newly commissioned labyrinth. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Astral Artists Jonathan Wintringham (saxophone) and Caroline Cole (harp) will join to present a unique concert that will kick off this year’s Five Fridays series. All proceeds benefit the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northwest Philadelphia and Face to Face Germantown. All concerts are held in the Saint Paul’s sanctuary and are followed by a wine and cheese reception. Come enjoy yourself while supporting good work in your local community. Choral Eucharist for Christmas Eve Come and join Saint Paul’s in its festal service of worship on Christmas Eve. An extended Candlelit prelude featuring choir and favorite carols begins at 9:40 p.m. Music offered will include works by John Tavener, Leo Nestor, George Malcolm, and Paul Halley.

Annual Three Choirs Festival The Choirs of Saint Paul’s, Church of the Redeemer, Bethesda, MD and Christ Church, Alexandria, VA will join forces once again. This year, the services will be recorded professionally, including the hymns. Come participate by lending your voice to the congregation. You can of course just listen too. Not to be missed! A reception will follow in the parish hall.
