LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
MASTERS OF TORQUE
The Yamaha MT line of motorcycles has always been impressive to me. I’ve never ridden one that I didn’t like. And I have ridden plenty.

Before they were rebranded as the MT line, they were known as the FZ. Slight differences in design and presentation separate the two but In either presentation, the bike has always sold well for Yamaha and has never disappointed when it came to performance. It was and remains a top seller for Yamaha. While the old adage of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” holds water… often, a rebranding seems appropriate. Being a dominant platform in the hypernaked class, the FZ brand deserved a better moniker for its classification. The engines are engineered to and do indeed create an impressive output of usable torque. Rebranding the line as the MT only made sense… Master of Torque.
Sometimes, change is great. And often, the more things change… the more they stay the same.
