Premiership Rugby Tackling Numbers Presenters: Sophie Hartley, Senior Community Executive, Premiership Rugby Wayne Morris, Head of Community, Premiership Rugby John Greaves, Communications Executive Europe Card Services, MBNA Tackling Numbers is an award winning interactive numeracy programme for young children. The programme is developed and delivered by Premiership Rugby in partnership with MBNA. This five week programme aims to teach 8-9 year olds the importance of number skills in everyday life. The rugby-themed programme is delivered in schools by representatives from all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs, through both classroom sessions and practical number-based rugby games. This innovative and engaging programme makes learning about numbers fun, exciting and rewarding, inspiring children to both improve their numeracy skills and their physical health. Wayne Morris, Head of Community at Premiership Rugby, said: “Rugby has long been seen as a social game that unites and brings people from all over the world together. In more recent years rugby’s ability to engage with children is being used to transcend into the classroom. These clubs are engaging with their communities and applying this program to deal with a number of prevalent issues ranging from social inclusion to behavioral issues and threats. A second wave of supporting clubs have joined this new 2012-13 season the original Founding Clubs to broaden the reach and impact of the program. FCB Regal, Partizan Belgrade, Panathinaikos A number of events and communication initiatives have been undertaken and applied through Euroleague and club channels. The program, thanks to the support of its club, is fast gaining a reputation as a well- constructed and executed example of sport as a tool for social change. The program will further extend to all 24 Euroleague Basketball clubs and to some Eurocup clubs during the next 3 seasons. Each participating club develops a specific program, designed to have a positive impact on potentially excluded groups – those with disability (physical or intellectual), girls, urban gangs, those at risk of substance abuse, the economically disadvantaged etc. This program will be developed following the receipt of training on the One Team curriculum, an innovative program that use sport to reach out and address a variety of social issues. After the training, each club implements the program in its community following a regular working agenda with each selected group and developing several activities in a yearly basis. The program objectives are not around numbers, but about the social impact achieved working together towards a common goal, involving clubs and competition in a 360o scenario, from players as voice and image, clubs with a solid and long term program and fans engagement.

Premier League Football Creating Chances PL4Sport Presenters: Siobhan Atkinson, Community Development Executive, The Premier League Football Jayne Molyneux, Strategic Lead, Satellite Clubs Ross McKinley, PL4S Co-ordinator, Arsenal Football Club Creating Chances is the work that the Premier League delivers at the heart of its communities in which the clubs operate. Through the power of football we empower our clubs to create opportunities that bring people together and change lives for the better. Over the last three years Creating Chances has invested £111.6m into the heart of local communities, benefitting 14m people. Every £1 invested by the Premier League has seen £3 of matched funding. The innovative Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) project started in September 2009 forms a key part of the Premier League Creating Chances hierarchy. PL4S has helped tens of thousands of young people get involved in sport in their local community. Delivered by the Premier League, Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust and funded by a £3.8m partnership with the UK Government, PL4S has seen Premier League Clubs acting as a hub linked to community sports facilities, which in turn are linked to local secondary schools to create satellite sports centres. Each Premier League Club has a dedicated coordinator who works locally with the sports clubs and schools to maximise opportunities for young people. The scheme originally offered opportunities in the four Olympic sports of badminton, judo, table-tennis and volleyball and more than 43,000 have taken part in 9,000 new club and taster sessions, with over 80 new clubs being established across the four sports. An additional £2m of investment to take the project through to 2013 was approved in 2011 and has enabled PL4S to continue to provide extra legacy to build on this summer’s 2012 Olympic Games in London. Due to the success of the project four new sports were introduced – basketball, handball, hockey and netball. PL4S has three main objectives: Provide chances for young people to take part in sport outside school hours  Increase the diversity of sport  Improve the infrastructure and supporting links between schools and clubs 

Widening the reach of sport PL4S targets those less likely to engage in sport. Sport England’s Active People Survey showed that only 13% of women take part in three sessions of 30 minutes of sport, but females have accounted for 35% of PL4S, with the aim to get this up to a more even split between male and female participants. 17% of participants come from black and ethnic minorities – and this is above the national average for similar programmes. Award-winning The work that PL4S has done in getting children participating in sport was recognised in November 2010 when it was named as the winner of the Coaching Intervention of the Year Award at the 2010 UK Coaching Awards. These awards honour coaches and coaching organisations that have achieved outstanding success over a 12-month period. In 2012 the programme was shortlisted for the Community Award at the Sport Industry Awards.

Coca-Cola Great Britain – StreetGames Presenters: Liz Lowe, citizenship manager, Coca-Cola GB Adam Smith, Special projects manager, StreetGames Coca-Cola is committed to using the appeal of our brands and scale to make a positive difference to consumers and to the communities we serve. We have a long history of using the power of our brands to encourage people to become more active through physical activity. Through our sponsorship of London 2012, we had an even bigger opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing. Background: Our experience at previous Olympic Games has taught us that brands like Coca-Cola have the potential to add real social value. At present, however, the non-commercial value of sponsorship is neither well understood nor easy to measure. Traditionally the success or corporate sponsorship has been assessed through business metrics such as brand awareness. We think it’s time for a new approach that looks beyond commercial benefits and explore the positive social legacy that sponsorship can leave. That’s why we are working to create a new model, which shows that progressive sponsorship can be judged on social return on investment and the social value it creates, and which uses Coca-Cola’s partnership with London 2012 as an example. Our Partnership With Streetgames: Our partnership with the national charity StreetGames is a great example of this model in action, showing how our support went well beyond financial investment to sit at the heart of our Games-time activities and, away from the Games, how we are bringing ‘only Coke can do’ benefits to enhance the charity’s work. Integrating the charity into our Olympic Games legacy plans allowed StreetGames to access a host of benefits that, as a non-Olympic Sponsor, wouldn’t have otherwise been within reach. They include:  Olympic Torchbearer places to reward inspirational young people involved in StreetGames coaching in their local communities  Paid-employment opportunities at Olympic Games Venue Operations for young people from StreetGames projects  Receiving all profits from Coca-Cola pin-trading and Coca-Cola merchandise sales at the Games – the first time a non-IOC charity has benefitted from Olympic Games merchandise sales  Olympic Global Ambassador Day – where StreetGames participants met the Coca-Cola chief executive Muhtar Kent and the senior global management team Away from Olympic Games, our support has also helped the charity in a number of ways:  Helped it grow its network of projects to bring sport to the most deprived areas of the UK, it now reaches youngsters in Scotland for the first time  Consolidated training and best practise dissemination for StreetGames coaches  Motivated thousands of young people to get into and stay in sport through StreetGames regional sports festivals  Recruited a top athlete ambassador to support StreetGames activities  Ran a billboard campaign to promote the real heroes of StreetGames – the coaches and participants  Provided work experience opportunities at Coca-Cola for young people involved in the charity  Ran an employee program to engage Coca-Cola colleagues in the charity’s work  Engaged stakeholders with a parliamentary reception and launch with the sports minister In return, the partnership has helped us to deliver an important energy balance message to thousands of young people, encouraging them to be more active more often and the opportunity to build positive relationships with key health, wellness and sports stakeholders.

Sky Sport - Sky Sports Living for Sport Presenters: Jack Eatherley, Community Investment Manager, The Bigger Picture, Sky John Steele, Chief Executive Officer, Youth Sport Trust Sky Sports Living for Sport, delivered in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, is a free secondary schools initiative that helps teachers to raise the aspirations and build the life skills of young people through encouraging participation in sport. In 2011/2012, 866 schools took part in the programme, with over 1,000 projects, and reaching over 18,000 students. Since its launch in 2003, the initiative has helped 50,000 young people across the UK. Activation Schools register and plan their Sky Sports Living for Sport project online at www.skysports.com/livingforsport. Each school is offered up to two visits by professional athletes who share their life-changing stories and run a series of activities for the students based on the British Athletes Commission’s ‘Six Keys to Success’ which include: mental toughness, hunger to achieve, people skills, sports and life knowledge, breaking barriers and planning for success. The programme’s 50 ‘Athlete Mentors’ represent a variety of sports including hockey, judo, wheelchair basketball and archery, and have competed in the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games, as well as World and European Championships. Teachers are also given support to create their Sky Sports Living for Sport project using a free online project planning tool, as well as guidance from their Athlete Mentor. During the programme students are asked to set goals and take part in a series of teacher-led sports activities, including planning and leading their own sports event. Results Each year Sky and the Youth Sport Trust commission independent research to check in with teachers and young people to see how they, and the programme, are doing. Results have shown the projects lead to lasting positive behavioural change, including improvements in selfconfidence and attitudes towards learning:  Overall,

96 per cent of Sky Sports Living for Sport projects were judged to have been successful or very

successful Behavioural change  96% of Lead Teachers report that young people chosen to participate in Sky Sports Living for Sport have shown improved self-confidence and self-esteem  96% of Lead Teachers who set an aim to improve students’ attitudes to learning said this aim was fully or partially achieved

Speaker Biographies Siobhan Atkinson Community Development Executive The Premier League Siobhan has worked in the football industry since 2003 where she joined the Football Foundation as a Facilities Project Manager. Before joining the Premier League in April 2009, she headed up the Barclays Spaces for Sports programme, a £30million initiative that developed 200 new community sports sites across the UK. Whilst working on this project Siobhan spent 6 months in South Africa in 2007 developing and project managing the first overseas site for Barclays in the Western Cape which saw the first full size artificial pitch developed for the community. Prior to joining the Football world she spent 5 years working for England Netball firstly as a Regional Manager and then as Communications / Press Manager supporting the team at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. Siobhan’s current role in the Community Development Team at the Premier League is to advise and support nine of the Premier League clubs which include all the London and Midlands Premier League clubs as they all seek to develop and diversify their community programmes. Siobhan is the national lead for Premier League 4 Sport, an Olympic Legacy project which sees 20 Premier League clubs supporting the development of sporting opportunities in eight Olympic Sports. She also supports her colleagues and clubs in developing other award winning Premier League initiatives such as Kickz, Premier League Enterprise as well as leading on the Premier League Schools Tournament which engages over 8,000 participants.

Jayne Molyneux Strategic Lead, Satellite Clubs Sport England Jayne Molyneux has worked for Sport England since 2009 and leads on the ‘transition to clubs’ element of Sport England’s new Youth and Community Strategy, a £48.5 million investment from 2012 - 2017 which aims to encourage more young people to continue to participate in sport outside of the school day. She also worked with government departments including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, on the development of the School Games Programme, which aims build of the magic of London 2012 and further revive the culture of competitive sport in schools Having graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA (Hons) in Recreation Management and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Secondary PE) from Liverpool John Moores University, Jayne has over 18 years of experience in the field of sports development which also includes working for the Youth Sport Trust for five years as a National Development Manager as well as for several local authorities in the North West of England. In her spare time, Jayne enjoys taking part and watching sport and was fortunate to have played rugby union for England from 1993 – 1999. She also coached England Students from 2002 – 2004. Having retired from rugby several years ago she now enjoys the gentler pursuits of walking and cycling. In her spare time she is also Chair of Governors at a secondary school in Southport.

Ross McKinley PL4S Co-ordinator Arsenal Football Club Ross begun his career as a football coach at the early age of 15 when he was invited to get involved in a small soccer school in his local part of Dorset, where he went on to run a successful junior team. Working with young people and coaching quickly became his passion and he subsequently studied Sports Leadership at Reading University where he graduated in 2007.

He immediately joined Arsenal’s award winning Community Department and started working in the Arsenal’s Double Club programme, using football to teach literacy and numeracy skills to a range of community groups including primary, secondary, adults and even prisons. Ross moved into the new Premier League 4 Sport Coordinator role in June 2009, establishing new links with local authorities and NGB’s to suitable community clubs and to the school based satellite clubs Arsenal have established. The Arsenal programme has expanded to 6 sports and have engaged nearly 2,500 people in three years and has now become an integral part of Arsenal in the Communities work.

Sophie Hartley Senior Community Executive Premiership Rugby Sophie Hartley is Senior Community Executive at Premiership Rugby, the umbrella organisation of the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs in England, where she has worked since 2008. Sophie has helped develop, oversee and implement the MBNA Tackling Numbers initiative along with other community initiatives such as the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme and the J.P. Morgan Assets Management Premiership Rugby 7s Cup. Sophie also oversees Premiership Rugby’s community showpiece events. Sophie holds a Batchelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Sheffield University, plays touch rugby and is a keen sailor.

Wayne Morris Head of Community Premiership Rugby Wayne Morris is the Head of Community for Premiership Rugby, the umbrella organisation representing the strategic interests of the 12 Aviva Premiership clubs. His role is to orchestrate the strategy and delivery of Premiership Rugby’s community work, including creating and delivering Premiership Rugby’s central community programmes, ensuring the clubs community network shares knowledge and best practice, whilst developing new partnerships with the corporate sector, 3rd sector, government and NGO stakeholders. Premiership Rugby’s community work involves approximately 75 full time community development officers who are supported by over 400 part time and volunteer staff in the delivery of over 150,000 hours of community work per season, and currently works with over 75 charitable, NGO, national or local government partners. Wayne previously played professional rugby for Aberavon, Pontypool and Bridgend whilst at Pontypool he became the youngest player to take up the roll as club captain of a top flight Welsh club and was capped by his country at u19 – u21 and A team level, he lives with his wife Michelle and their two children in Cheshire.

John Greaves Communications Executive Europe Card Services MBNA John Greaves is Europe Card Services’ Communications Executive responsible for all external and associate communications, sponsorships and CSR. John acts as company spokesperson, senior communications counsel to the ECS leadership team, of which he is a member, and also leads corporate communications integration activity across a number of other areas including Public Policy, brand and associate engagememt. During his time at BAC, John has led (amongst other things) corporate communications activity for significant business change programmes including company restructure and company and asset acquisition, managed major community investment and regional/national sponsorship programmes and delivered reputational risk management across a range of issues.

John joined BAC in 2001 from Bank of Scotland where he was based in Edinburgh as Director of Public Relations for the Bank’s consumer division. Before this he was PR manager at a national law firm, Addleshaw Goddard and has also held a number of agency and in-house media and public relations positions.

Jack Eatherley Community Investment Manager The Bigger Picture, Sky Jack has worked in The Bigger Picture team at Sky since joining the company in 2007, and is responsible for managing the company’s educational initiatives and local schools engagement programmes. Now in its ninth year, Jack oversees the Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative - a partnership between Sky and the Youth Sport Trust which provides secondary schools with sports stars mentor visits and resources to motivate and inspire young people through sport. To date, over 2,600 schools and over 50,000 young people have taken part. Jack has also managed the recent creation and launch of Sky Skills Studios – Sky’s pioneering educational facility which will see up to 12,000 young people per year visit Sky to write, shoot and edit their own television report, experiencing the excitement of behind-the-scenes television production. Additionally, Jack is responsible for Sky’s local schools engagement programme around its UK sites in West London, Scotland and Yorkshire. Prior to his role at Sky, Jack was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility team at KPMG. After graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2001, he joined start-up charity Street League, which uses football as a means to engage London’s most disadvantaged adults. In 2004, he relocated to Brazil to work on social projects using journalism and sport to motivate vulnerable young children, returning to London in 2007.

John Steele Chief Executive Officer Youth Sport Trust John has served as an army officer having been trained at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to lead teams in high pressure environments. He has previously qualified as a chartered surveyor, worked in commercial property development and been a professional rugby player. John’s playing career spanned over 400 first class matches. On finishing playing, John turned to coaching and successfully led Northampton Saints to become European Champions - their first and only major silverware. John moved on from coaching to become Executive Director at Northampton Saints during which time the Premiership club enjoyed unprecedented growth off the field, including a share issue and stadium development. He also served as a Director of the England Rugby Board during the successful Rugby World Cup campaign of 2003. The winning of the bid for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics saw John take up post as CEO of UK Sport, the organisation tasked with developing high performance sport and delivering medal success for Team GB, particularly at the Beijing Games. When England won the bid for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, John was targeted as the next CEO of the Rugby Football Union. His first year in post saw England win their first Six Nations Championship in eight years and delivered an exceptional financial result. He successfully led an ambitious change agenda, but then left the organisation following a highly publicised sequence of events. John became Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust in February 2012, where he intends to continue his passion by supporting every young person to engage with and enjoy all the benefits of sport.

Liz Lowe Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain Liz’s career started at consumer PR agency Lynne Franks PR working on a variety of entertainment, music and sport businesses, including SEGA video games, where she spent some time working in-house. She then moved to Pearson’s multiple media publishing business, Pearson New Entertainment, where she was responsible for the in-house PR team, developing campaigns for videos, digital media and Future Publishing’s stable of magazines. She has spent the last fourteen years at Coca-Cola Great Britain in a wide variety of roles in the Public Affairs & Communications Team, working on a range of brand and corporate projects including sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup, Rugby World Cup, Football League and Olympic Games alongside grassroots sport programmes. Since 2006, Liz has been focused on corporate responsibility and sustainability, developing the award-winning recycling campaign ‘Talent from Trash’ with the Football League, communicating the company’s sustainability efforts, managing CR reporting and establishing and developing programmes with strategic partners including WWF-UK, Special Olympics GB and StreetGames.

Adam Smith Special Projects Manager StreetGames Adam began his career at a community outreach project in his home town of Morecambe and has been involved in StreetGames since its inception at an Inter-New Deal for Communities football event in 2004. He spent five years self-employed, providing mainly not-for-profit organisations and charities with event management, fund raising and organisational development support. For the last three years, Adam has been responsible for StreetGames’ UK wide programme of events, festivals and conferences. In that time, there has been significant growth in the geographic spread and numbers of young people engaged, corresponding to the growth of StreetGames. Adam is also responsible for managing relationships with external partners such as Coca-Cola Great Britain and StreetGames’ ambassadors.

David Butler Director Loxley & Co David has worked in global sports sponsorship for over 20 years since graduating from Oxford with an Honours Degree in History. While there he forged his interest in sport as a blade winning college rower, sports editor of Cherwell and a member of the prestigious Vincent’s Club. A former Formula One marketing director with Honda Racing F1/Brawn GP, he was also marketing director of Laureus; instrumental in creating its “power of sport” messaging and the development of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. He was a divisional director with Octagon specialising in sponsorship consultancy and broadcast editorial and is a specialist and leading spokesperson on the alignment of sponsorship and CSR championing a number of social enterprises. A former communications manager of an Olympic Bidding City, he has also media directed a number of high profile sponsorships including the launch of the first English Rugby Premiership, the winning British and Irish Lions Tour of South Africa and oversaw media operations for all major Athletics sponsor televised events in the UK and South Africa including IAAF Grands Prix.

In 2009, he founded Loxley & Co. and has worked with Unicef to advise on their global sports strategy, the establishment of Palace House Turf Club, F1 projects and the One Team Euroleague Program. He is well known in the industry, regularly contributes to leading publications and has been a speaker at a number of leading industry events from the Global Sports Forum to the inaugural Sport Business CSR conference. He is a Founding Advisory Panel member of Beyond Sport, chaired by Tony Blair, and sits as a charity trustee for the Fight for Peace programme.

Isabel Gultresa Euroleague Basketball Senior Manager Corporate Social Responsibility Isabel is the director and driver of Euroleague’s blue riband social responsibility program “One Team”. A core member of the Euroleague management team since its inception over 10 years ago Isabel has been integral to developing the league’s acclaimed program that now engages 13 of its leading clubs across Europe in a positive social change initiative harnessing the on and off-court values of basketball. Isabel was also instrumental in creating Euroleague’s “Euroleague for Life” program and its strategic alliances with the Special Olympics and Unicef. Passionate about the impact sport can have as a driver to engage young people with its positive values, Isabel launched One Team last year with the support of eight Founding Clubs and the commercial support of Founding Partner Turkish Airlines. With major initiatives in Barcelona, Moscow and last week in Memphis; with the leading NBA franchise Memphis Grizzlies, Isabel has moved CSR to the centre of Euroleague’s business.

Kevin Roberts Editorial Director, SportBusiness Group Kevin Roberts is the Editorial Director of SportBusiness International which he helped launch in 1996. Since then he has overseen the development of the monthly magazine as well as Sportbusiness.com, the world’s leading on-line source of information about the business of sport, and a specialist customer publishing service. Kevin was previously a director of Plus Public Relations Ltd in the UK and cut his teeth in the business of sport in the early 1990s. As deputy director forcommunications at CPMA group, he was involved in projects including the 1991 Rugby World Cup, and the World Student Games. He has written for a variety of UK and international publications and is a media spokesman on a variety of sports media and marketing issues. He has chaired and spoken at numerous international conferences including theInternational Olympic Committee’s Conference on Sport and New Media, the General Association of International Sports Federation’s, SportAccord, the FT Sports Marketing Conference, Marketing Magazine Sports Marketing Conference, the Australian Leaders in Sport Conference and various editions of Sportel in Monaco and Miami. Kevin combines his role with SportBusiness Group with wide-ranging communications consultancy within sport.
