Background I first coached Dominic when he joined the Prep School at Ardingly as an U12 player. Prior to this Dominic had enjoyed a very successful junior career at national level in Barbados and captaining various sides at Millfield School. Dominic immediately showed signs that he was no ordinary Prep School footballer due to his technical ability, athleticism and game understanding. This prompted my decision to select Dominic for the Crystal Palace FC Elite training centre based at East Grinstead. I also operate a private coaching academy based on individual technical training, mentoring and speed coaching. This coaching is only offered to a very small elite selection of players and I had no hesitation in adding Dominic to this group. Dominic is focused, dedicated and extremely coachable. The qualities we, as coach can only hope for when a player comes along. Relevant experiences During his time with Crystal Palace FC and Ardingly’s Football Academy Dominic has played fixtures against various professional clubs and elite development centres including: Brighton and Hove Albion, Leyton Orient FC, Crystal Palace FC, Fulham FC and AFC Wimbledon. Dominic responded well to playing against elite competition and was an effective player in all of these matches. Due to the level of Dominic’s performance he was added to the Crystal Palace FC list of potential U18 scholars and was monitored for 2 years, Dominic’s dedication to his studies meant that this route was not a possibility for him but he continues to be held in high regard by scouts and coaches at this level. Dominic was an integral part in Ardingly’s U15 National Cup winning team and has gone on to play a key role in the double national cup winning 1st team squad of the last two seasons. Dominic has also enjoyed a successful spell at East Grinstead Town FC in the Ryman League. Dominic was a central part of the U18 team at the beginning of the year before being quickly promoted to the Res/U21 squad where he became one of the youngest players in the club’s history to play at this level. Dominic was pre selected without trial for next seasons U21 squad due to his high level of performance and has been earmarked for future appearances in the first team. Football Dominic is a technically gifted player with great athletic ability, an excellent work ethic and tremendous game understanding. I have worked closely with Dominic in recent years on an individual technical coaching basis. Dominic has excellent and functional foot speed and is very creative when it comes to ball manipulation. Dominic possesses a good range of passing and is calm and precise in front of goal. Defensively Dominic is effective in the air and works well with full backs when playing on the wing or with other midfielders when playing centrally. His understanding of defensive organisation has improved dramatically in recent seasons and he has an inner determination to regain possession for his team. Dominic is a very creative player who can play on either wing or as a central attacking midfield player. With an abundance of tricks and techniques to beat players he is equally effective at taking on full backs or driving with the ball through central positions. I believe that Dominic’s main strength is his ability to link up with other players and then unlock defenses with creative footwork and clinical slipped passes. Dominic finds pockets of space very well in attacking areas and has a good understanding of risk versus reward when deciding between retaining possession for his team or attempting to create goal scoring opportunities. Dominic has good athleticism and has increased in strength over recent seasons. He is physically able to compete and be effective in all game situations and has excellent acceleration to go past a player. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Dominic as a footballer, as a person and as a representative of my coaching centres. He is a hard working, dedicated and conscientious young man and would be an excellent addition to any football or academic programme. I can honestly say he has been a joy to work with in recent years and foresee a very bright future for an exceptional young man and talented footballer.
