REFERENCE FOR LAURA-ROSE COOKE 18-01-01 I am writing in support of Laura’s wish to attend College in the USA under a gymnastics scholarship. Laura has trained at The Norfolk Academy of Gymnastics since 2010 and I have been her personal coach for that full eight year period. Laura always showed good talent for gymnastics and was naturally very strong. She has always had a calm mentality, excellent spacial awareness and generally competes very well. However, in terms of gaining the skills for elite gymnastics. Laura was a relatively late developer. As a second year junior in 2016 Laura made huge strides forwards in terms of her power on vault and floor, and her skill level on bars. Because this surge forwards came comparatively late in Laura’s development, I believe that she is nowhere near achieving her full potential as yet. Throughout 2017 and into this year, Laura has continued to add new work to her competition programme and has a number of further skills and combinations in the advanced stages of development which I would expect to see her compete over the next 6-12 months. Laura is already one of the top rated gymnast in the England gymnastics squad (the squad one level below the full GB national team) and I believe that if she is able to add these new skills to her programme and compete them cleanly, that she does have the chance of being invited to join the senior national squad. Alongside her continuing development as a competitive gymnast, Laura is a fantastic role model for the other girls in the gym, who all look up to her, and a hugely supportive team mate. I believe that she would truly thrive in the collegiate environment. Kind regards S J Inglis SARA-JANE INGLIS Managing Director and Head Coach The Norfolk Academy of Gymnastics Ltd.
