Personal Statement
Welcome by Mickey Strang
I am a person who always wants to challenge my abilities and strive to be the best. The opportunity to study and play soccer at an American University is one that not many people are privileged enough to do. Being a passionate, enthusiastic and devoted athlete as well as a pupil, I believe that I would put the utmost effort into everything I do, enabling me to excel in University life. What makes me unique as a player is the fact that I work unfathomably hard off the ball, chasing and closing down defenders from the attack. By making sure I put in a concerted effort off the ball, reduces the workload on fellow team mates. To me teamwork is the most important principle in sport, by making sure you as an individual contribute maximally enhances cohesion and immediately limits chances of failure, failure being something that isn’t part of my ethos. Being an English player, I have learnt to play a more stout style of soccer that I believe would be very desirable, giving me the edge of many college players. Further, being an athlete that feeds off pressure and competition, playing the heights of collage soccer will only spur me on to achieve more. I always want to progress in everything that I do, learning new techniques and prospective that will better me as a soccer player. I would be honoured to work with you, knowing that the opportunity will enable me to reach my full potential.

I coached Mickey through several years for the representative Surrey county side. I included Mickey in several International festivals including the Dana Cup/ Costa Blanca Cup and the world known Gothia Youth World Cup Tournament in Sweden. Throughout all of these tournaments Mickey was an integral part of the team not just on the pitch but off of it. On the pitch, throughout the games I asked Mickey to play in various positions but I predominately placed him in as a central striker in a role which highly influenced to the team structure and attacking way of playing. When on the occasions I needed to change formation, Mickey showed fantastic adaptability to be able to play in these positions which I know he may have been out of his comfort zone with. Mickey's biggest asset on the pitch was goal scoring ability and endeavour to create chances from limited service. Mickey has a complete drive to close down defenders and to work tirelessly for the team. Alongside this strong attribute Mickey has a fantastic technical ability and was a trusted player when within key moments of games. His calmness and finesse in front of goal excelled and he won the team games through his moments of quality. Adding to these areas he also has excellent technical ability and was very strong on both feet. Due to the responsibilities of the position he centrally played he was a standout performer for the team during my team with him. Off the pitch, Mickey has a fantastic attitude and endeavoured to ensure that any request from myself or my assistant was acted on professionally and sufficiently. Mickey integrated into the team and was a credit to himself when asked to assist with supporting other players away from the pitch. He has a great Character and one thing the staff here at Fulham in grain in prospect players is their character. I would have no doubt Mickey would tick that area for us. I no doubt can say that Mickey will be a huge asset to any programme who wishes to engage him in their programme. Speaking from personal experience myself in the USA college system, Mickey will be a huge influential player to have within a team. Please contact me for any further information. Kind Regards
