Track/XC England

Sports have always played an important part of my life, especially running and horse-riding, but it is only in the past few years that I have really appreciated its value and what it means to me. After competing at the Intercounties Cross-Country at Birmingham and at the National Combined events in 2014 I became fully motivated to run seriously. I was recently part of the England Athletics AASE program and learnt an incredible amount about the lifestyle and physiology of an athlete. The previous winter season had gone really well for me, with highlights being the cross-country runs at Parliament Hill in London and the Intercounties in Birmingham for the 5th year running. It was after these races that I was asked to run for England and although, egrettably, I had to turn the offer down - I do not hold an English passport - it was a definite turning point for me. With this new confidence and enthusiasm I have propelled myself into track and field this spring, hitting times I never

thought to even aim for a year ago. I am a very energetic and curious person. A lot of this is channeled into running and learning both at school and elsewhere. The possibility of studying in the US has stimulated me to train harder and focus more keenly on goals of running at an international level. My primary reason for applying, however, is my love of running and sense of adventure (and good weather). It can make me feel incredibly happy to come back from a bouncy run, and lacing up my trainers and heading of on a long run after a stressful day is something I am no stranger to. I am very much looking forward to competing and studying in the US. In addition, I am also very excited about meeting new people and visiting new places. Although I can be very focused on my sports and studies, I am a very social and creative person who loves and thrives on new experiences.
