Re: Reference for Toby Cassidy. 21st March, 2016 Background During the 2014/15 season, after trials for the England U16 ISFA South team, Toby was selected to represent the South in matches against Fulham, Portsmouth and Millwall. It was clear from the beginning that Toby was an exceptional footballer and he excelled in these games. He was then selected from the trial match vs. the North of England to represent the England U16 ISFA National Team. During the season, Toby represented ISFA in fixtures against a wide range of professional English clubs (and Portuguese clubs on the National Team’s end of season tour). England U16 ISFA South 2014/15 Fixtures vs. Fulham FC, Portsmouth FC, Millwall FC. Trial match vs. England U16 ISFA North England U16 ISFA National Team 2014/15 St. George’s Park training camp. Fixtures vs. Bristol City FC, Crystal Palace FC, Brighton FC, Millwall FC, Ipswich Town FC. Tour vs. Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Massama Football I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Toby as a footballer. He excelled for the National Team, playing at left back, left forward and central midfield and he was an irreplaceable cog in a successful national team. It is rare that extremely athletic and physical players are also blessed with technique and vision, but Toby certainly falls into this category. Not only does he have an enormous capacity for hard work and the ability to cover huge areas for the entirety of games; but his composure, vision and passing, combined with his delivery from crosses made him simply irreplaceable. Toby had excellent defence awareness and had an uncanny ability to recognise when to press and when to drop. His composure in possession and willingness to drive forward (both and with and without the ball) provided the team with an attacking drive that was hugely beneficial. Recognised by both his coaches and fellow players as a special player, Toby also won the prestigious England U16 ISFA Player of the Season award whist on tour in Portugal. Stand out performances against Sporting Lisbon and Benfica capped off a superb season where Toby played every available minute and lead the team both in defence and attack. Personality Intelligent, modest, hardworking and with an insatiable determination and desire to succeed, Toby really is the definition of an “ISFA” player. Erudite and humble, Toby is an intelligent young man who left a positive mark both on and off the football pitch. His ability to play competitive and aggressive football but to never overstep the mark are indicative of the man that he is. As all true intelligent footballers do, Toby consistently strived to improve. He sought feedback regularly, acted on advice given and had that unique ability to solve problems on the pitch as and when they arose. I really cannot speak highly enough of Toby both as a young man and a footballer. I genuinely believe that he will be a huge asset on the pitch to not only any football club that he plays for, but also to the wider environment in both a club and/or educational establishment.
