THE SMITH MAG™ INTERCHANGEABLE SYSTEM A proprietary technology enabling you to quickly adapt to varying light conditions with the confidence of lens security. The next generation of Smith interchangeability has arrived.
DUAL LOCKING MECHANISMS
Magnets help guide the lens into place. Once in position the lens carrier provides a locking mechanical-engagement that resists forces and rotation during movement. Since the goggle has not just one, but two locking mechanisms, the lens stays on and locked tight, for whatever the hill throws at you. This mechanical engagement is the difference between a secure lens and a lens that is being held by magnetic force only. A simple push of one lever at either side of the lens releases the lens for easy swapping as the light and conditions change.

CONSIDERED DESIGN
Strong and weather proof N52 magnets self guide the lens into the anchored position. This magnetic positions enables the speed of lens changing to get you back out riding faster.
Plastic grips are carefully considered and designed at the corners of the lens, to limit contact with the lens, and aid in the changing of the lens.

All this technology is designed around one of Smith’s largest spherical lenses, providing a maximized field of view and 5X™ anti-fog technology. ENGINEERED PROTECTION Thousands of co-polymer extruded tubes, thermally welded to create an unparalleled consistent and fully engineered core. Each Koroyd® section is engineered to precise durometer, size, and thickness speci�ications to provide the greatest impact resistance.
FULL BREATHABILITY Koroyd® is an energy absorber which is fully breathable and doesn’t compromise impact performance. Koroyd’s® open cell construction allows cool air in, while expelling hot air from the rider's head. Spherical lenses are built on a base curve in both the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axis. Smith’s spherical lenses are offered exclusively in carbonic-x material with TLT Optics and a base 6x4 toric shape. Building upon the hydrophilic, micro-etched surface area principles of our Fog-X lenses, our revolutionary, 5X anti-fog inner lens has been engineered to provide over five times the absorptive properties of anything on the market. AIREVAC: MAXIMUM AIRFLOW IS CRUCIAL
Ultimate integration starts with the precise fit of the Smith goggle and helmet. Our helmets are designed to match the curvature of the goggle frame, eliminating “gaper gap” and allowing precise alignment between the helmet AirEvac and the goggle venting systems.
Goggles fog when standard helmets trap warm, moist air in the goggle chamber. Smith’s AirEvac ventilation systems generate maximum airflow that pulls warm, fog-causing air out of the goggle. The warm air is allowed to exhaust out of the top of the goggle and begin its path through the helmet’s AirEvac system.

REAR EXHAUST VENTILATION
AirEvac 2 continues to drive the warm air away from the goggle through external vents and internal channels in the EPS liner. Internal airflow can be adjusted through the helmet’s Regulator climate control system.
The warm air that originally built up in the goggle has been forced out via the AirEvac ventilation system, has traveled through the AirEvac 2 EPS vent channels, and is now being exhausted at the furthest distance possible from the goggle. MIPS technology MULTI-DIRECTIONAL IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM In a helmet with MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS) the shell and the liner are separated by a Low Friction Layer. When a helmet with MIPS Brain Protection System is subjected to an angled impact, the low friction layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head. The MIPS BPS is designed to add protection in helmets against the rotational motion. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces (from angular acceleration) that both affects the brain and increases the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS BPS has been scientifically proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting rotational energies and forces transferred to the brain.

THE GREAT MISCONCEPTION Accident statistics show that many injuries occur due to angled impact to the head. However, in standard helmet tests the helmet is dropped vertically onto a flat surface. The results are helpful for measuring precise vertical impacts, but inferior for measuring the more realistic scenario of an angled impact. MIPS has been developed for reality and increases protection against angled impacts.

MIPS IN ACTION When you fall to the ground at an angle rotational forces are generated. A helmet integrating MIPS technology creates a sliding layer between the outer shell and the head. This allows the helmet's outer shell to slide relative to the head when hitting the ground, so the rotational force is decreased, reducing the potential to damage your brain.

High-Fives Foundation (@hi5foundation) – Lake Tahoe-based, The High Fives Foundation is a non-profit set up to support the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing resources and inspiration to those that suffer life-altering injuries.
