Bright ’n beautiful refurbished Rondebosch store opens
On Saturday 14 September, Rondebosch store was relaunched with its brand-new look. Customers started queuing for the big event from 06h00 that morning and were definitely not disappointed. With boerie rolls, cooldrinks, a DJ and fantastic goodie bags, the atmosphere was festive and the tills were ringing.

Staff news Heads Office welcomes newcomers in Planning and Marketing
Coral Heydenrich joined our apparel department in July, and will be working alongside Michelle Nel as a planner for Outdoor Tech for both the Sportsmans Warehouse and Outdoor Warehouse businesses. Coral recently completed a B.Comm. in retail management at UNISA. When she isn’t punching the numbers, she’s swinging a paddle in a kayak. Welcome to the team, Coral.
Jaco Boshoff is our new trainee planner for Sportsmans Warehouse footwear. Before joining us, Jaco worked in Dubai as a merchandise analyst for the upmarket UK food retailer Waitrose that holds a licensing agreement with the high-end supermarket chain Spinneys in Dubai. Jaco enjoys tennis, running and sampling a good whiskey with friends.

Laura Stopforth is the latest arrival in Sportsmans Warehouse marketing department. Her portfolio will be events and community involvement. Laura studied at Stellenbosch University where she completed a BComm honours degree in marketing in 2011. She and her husband recently moved to Cape Town and at present her hobby is exploring the city and getting to know all it has to offer.

Castle Walk Road Race, Pretoria
The Castle Walk Road Race is described as a challenging rollercoaster of a race over the hills of Pretoria, giving runners panoramic views of Menlyn Park and surrounding areas. It was initiated to commemorate women on National Women’s Day in August and for the fourth year in a row Sportsmans Warehouse was involved. Despite very cold and stormy weather, 1300 runners took part in the event. Sincere thanks to Herman and the Sportsmans Warehouse Atterbury team for braving the cold weather and making the event a big success.
Gravity Adventure Festival W. Cape - Sportsmans Warehouse MTB Challenge
The annual 3-day Gravity Adventure Festival is a showcase of different adventure activities. However this, the 12th Festival, saw athletes take on rain, wind and cold of epic intensity. The final day of the festival started with the Sportsmans Warehouse MTB race. This year its 30,5 km cross-country route had to be shortened to an 18 km loop just one day prior to the event, owing to flooding. The result was short and high-speed for the 250 riders taking part.

The Lifegain Sport Wierie Road Race, Gauteng
This year’s event took place on 10 August. A total of 1672 runners took part in this very scenic race - with its good mix of up-hills, down-hills and flats - run around the Centurion Lake. There was something for the entire family: a 5 km fun run for the little ones, a 10 km race and a challenging 21 km race. Frik and the Centurion team arrived early on Saturday morning to set up our watering table. Scholars from Wierda Park Primary (centre picture) not only helped staff at the water table, but dressed up for the occasion.
Wanderers Half Marathon & 10 km Road Race/Walk, Gauteng
Saturday 25 August marks an important date in our events calendar: the Wanderers Half Marathon. This year’s race saw 3700 runners line up at the start under the Sportsmans Warehouse arch. This is a beautiful, shady race through the tree-lined suburbs of Melrose, Houghton and Birdhaven. A big thank you to Frik and the Woodmead, Modderfontein, Cresta and Fourways team for displaying our branding so effectively.
Beaconhurst School Kingfisher Festival, East London
On 4 August Beaconhurst Park was the site of the Beaconhurst School Festival, a group of events which unite Beaconhurst families and the citizens of East London as a whole. Among other things, the spectators were treated to a series of exciting seven-a-side rugby games. An enthusiastic team from our East London store branded the event and showed their support for the school with a donation of rugby balls.
