WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 6 NEW VIDEO TECHNOLOGY Effective video rendering is what allows you to do complex analysis and this quality is one factor which distinguishes
Dartfish from more basic video analysis software. The modern world of video is one of many formats and resolutions, the support of which poses challenges. To meet these, Dartfish has developed completely new video technology which better manages tasks such as smoothly playing AVCHD videos in a split screen analyzer. MPEG-2 video is indexed by the new engine. MPEG-2 (and some other video formats) do not have an index, preventing
accurate identification of video time position. Tasks which rely on this, such as trimming, stepping through the video and synchronizing multiple clips, become unreliable. Dartfish now creates an index when these videos are imported or opened. Access to the video is delayed during indexing, but the index is retained allowing immediate subsequent access.
USE DARTFISH SPECIAL EFFECTS WITH ANY SUPPORTED VIDEO FORMAT Stromotion and Simulcam are no longer restricted to DV and WMV videos.

SIMPLIFIED VIDEO IMPORT DV Import, DVD Import and Import from camcorder tools have been combined into a single Importer tool found on the
toolbar. This lets you choose from two methods of video import... ...or simply select your video device and let Dartfish choose the right tool: Record video, formerly known as DV Import,
records a video stream from a DV tape camcorder or other video streaming devices; Video File Importer copies files from DVD or camcorders with internal storage.
IMPROVED FILE IMPORT The Video File Importer lists files in order of most recent first, making it quicker to select and import only the latest
videos. View thumbnails, choose a sort order, see more information about the files to aid your choice of import.

Add keywords to files during import: previously video imports were automatically categorized in the "HDD" category;
that has gone leaving you the freedom to choose the keywords you want to use. Dartfish automatically rejoins long video recordings: Hard drive and DVD camcorders limit file size so a long recording
might actually result in the creation of multiple files. Previous versions allowed you to rejoin files but now the splits are automatically detected so one less step is required to import files. (AVCHD and DVD only) Files are now added to the library's Tray by whichever import tool is used; making them immediately distinguishable
from the rest of your library's content.
IMPORT FILES FROM ANYWHERE The scope of the Video File Importer has been increased to include the ability to import video files from any internal or
external drive or folder. Import video from SD card readers, networked folders, mobile phones etc.
EASIER TRIMMING The cue in/out markers are larger and easier to drag, plus new buttons allow you to set the cue in/out at the current
Playhead position. Previously this was only possible using the right-click context menu.
ADVANCED MODIFICATION OF VIDEO PROPERTIES Some video does not specify whether it is interlaced or progressive so previous versions used a Deinterlace mode button
to allow you to correct the display of these videos. Version 6 lets you specify whether a video should be displayed progressively or interlaced in the video properties (right click to display properties). Although identification of interlacing will only affect legacy videos, other video features such as aspect ratio can also be adjusted in this way. This offers the ability to permanently modify display on a video by video basis.
IMPROVED TAGGING INTERFACE WITH NEW FUNCTIONALITY Event filtering tools are now integrated into the events list. Not only does this make them more convenient but it also
allows you to filter and get statistics while tagging live. The Keyword filter is now dynamic, allowing filtering by keyword selection and immediately filtering as soon as a
selection is made. No more setting up complex keyword searches resulting in zero events! Edit event timings (position and duration) via the events list - either enter a new time or add seconds or minutes to the
current time. For example select multiple events, duration to edit, type "+5" and all those events are now 5 seconds longer; now repeat for the position using a new value of "-5" and the event starts five seconds earlier. Simplified import and synchronization - import events from the Dartfish Easytag App or your event logging software with
fewer clicks. Manual tagging is a new way of tagging which allows organizes video into segments and events. Each new segment
added, ends the previous one, continued until the clip is divided into segments. Events added to segments belong to that segment and this hierarchy is maintained after upload to Dartfish.tv. Manual tagging is a simplified form of tagging Version: July 11, 2011 | ©Dartfish SA

where segments and events are described by selecting from lists of keywords; when a segment or event is fully described, a button is clicked to add the event to the events list.
NEW TAGGING TOOLS The Zone tool displays an an image which records the coordinates of where it is clicked. Set an image of your playing
field, define the zones and you now have a tool to record where the action happens. The Player List Selector links to a team manager database allowing you to select any player from any team. This can
record a persistent keyword for all events created or can be linked to another tool to link its keyword to the action of that button. The Filename Template Tool is used to name files captured with Live Tagging. In its simple form it helps ensure consistent
file naming but can also be linked to the new Player List Selector Tool to allow variable file naming according to selected players' names.
NEW TAGGING PANEL EDITOR A much improved interface gives better access to tools and properties. Group boxes are easier to select and move. Tab group box pages can be reordered Buttons can be copied using drag and drop - set up one tool the way that you want it and copy it to create similar tools.
NEW TAGGING PROPERTIES Wider use of the image property to assist with tool identification New Orientation property to define whether the content of a button or group box will be placed horizontally or
vertically. Set a variable keyword by linking a button to a Player List Selector using a simple macro language. For example this
would allow you to have a button labeled "Point scored by opposition" but the keyword recorded would be "Point scored by Roger Federer". So what? Well, that opposition name is variable depending on a selection made from your database of teams and players. The Visibility property can be used to hide a group box and all its contents. Use this feature when you want to include
buttons on your panel which will be triggered by the action of other tools. Improved triggering. It is now possible to have a button trigger another tool even when that tool is not on the same page
of a tab group box. When one button will trigger multiple tools, it is also possible to control the order in which they will be triggered.

SAY GOODBYE TO... Values: The term value has been replaced by the term keyword. Although the functionality remains the same, we
believe that talking about keywords instead of categories and values will be better understood as well as offering consistency of terminology with the dartfish.tv video platform. Keywords are used to describe and filter for videos and categories are simply groups of keywords. Archive and restore: In a world of ever larger and cheaper external hard drives and memory sticks, we doubt that many
people are still archiving to CD or data DVD. If you have archived video on disks, it can be manually restored by simply copying the files to your Dartfish library; remember to copy both video files and .dartclip metadata files to retain Dartfish enhancements such as keywords and key positions. Deinterlace mode button: As stated above, video display is now modified in video properties. Windows XP: Version 6 will not run on Windows XP; it uses features from the Windows API which are only found in
Windows Vista and newer. Simulcam fixed and Stromotion fixed: Simulcam and Stromotion remain and these can be used for both fixed and
panning/zooming video. Tagging search favorites: The new simpler, more dynamic keyword search has made it obsolete
