Hope Center

The vision for the Hope Center began in December of 2008 when Jim and Melinda Hollandsworth delivered gifts to a family in the Gwinnett Estates Mobile Home Park. While visiting with the family, the Hollandsworths learned that many of the children in the community lacked the supplies necessary for school and struggled to complete their homework. In the beginning, school supplies were collected and distributed to every child living in the neighborhood and volunteers began working in the property management office offering free homework help to any child who needed it. After several months in a packed office, money was donated for the Hope Center to have a permanent home in the community. This year the Hope Center will continue to offer homework assistance after school each day and weekly activities will be provided to keep kids off the streets and in a safe environment. The Hope Center is also adding new programs this year. The U12 Hope Center Soccer Team is already practicing and will begin their season in September. The children on the team have strict expectations for grades, attendance and behavior. A preschool program will take place two days a week with the goal of helping the youngest children learn English and basic skills before starting Kindergarten. The Hope Center children are overflowing with potential. We are always excited for new volunteers to join us as we invest in their future.
