Whether it be a family cookout, a large festival, or a local sports game, outdoor events continue to bring us together. It’s easy to forget about UV protection when it’s not a beach day or when there’s cloud cover. While clouds do reduce some of the sun's UV rays, they don't block all of them, as the Skin Cancer Foundation explains. UVA rays can penetrate clouds, and they can also reach below the water's surface. Keep your skin’s health in mind during your outdoor events this Summer.

Plan on spending time relaxing in the sun this summer? Remember, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than 90 percent of skin cancers are caused by sun exposure. Don’t forgot your SPF and/or sun shade this season. When you know you are keeping yourself safe, you can truly relax during your much deserved me-time.

Protecting not only yourself, but those you love, from harmful rays is incredibly important. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends that all kids — regardless of their skin tone — wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply and re-apply sunscreen during the day, take breaks out of the sun under shade, and never forgot your sunglasses on a day out.
