Welcome
Welcome Dear Friends, Welcome to our 2011 Brochure.
2
This year we have added some new destinations to your old favourites; St Agnes in Cornwall, Cardigan Bay House Party, The Isle of Man and the Tall Ships at Greenock. For the more adventurous we have a fabulous break to the beautiful town of Valkenburg in Holland. Don’t forget our Holiday Gift Vouchers ideal as a Christmas and/or Birthday gift. As you can see we have again worked very hard in keeping prices to a minimum. Last year in spite of the economic climate we were able to avoid any fuel levy on your holiday, dependant upon the situation we hope the same will apply this year. Due to Health & Safety, please adhere to our Luggage conditions below, if you require any guidance please call us and we will gladly help. Thank you for choosing Golden Holidays, we look forward to seeing you again this year.
Pam & Tim HOTELS All our hotels have been carefully selected with your comfort in mind. Accommodation is based on bed, breakfast and evening meal, unless otherwise stated, leaving plenty of time for the inclusive full and half day excursions, enabling you to enjoy the surroundings, scenery and places of interest. All bedrooms are en-suite with colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Many of our hotels offer regular entertainment which includes dancing, live music, bingo etc.
EXCURSIONS All excursions are carefully planned to offer a balance of organised and free time. The coach travel on all excursions is included in the price; however, entrance fees, admission charges and show tickets are not included in the price unless otherwise stated in the itinerary. We reserve the right to alter, adjust and amend advertised itinerary times and days depending on the weather, hotel meal times and other influences outside of our control.
LUXURY COACH TRAVEL Your safety is of paramount importance to us and our vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. This together with our fleet being fitted with road speed governors and conforming to the legal legislation safety measures, ensures our commitment to your peace of mind. Coaches are equipped with seat belts, reclining seats, tinted windows, curtains and some with toilet and drinks machine.
EXPERIENCED UNIFORMED DRIVERS/COURIERS Our drivers/couriers have been selected not only for their high standards of driving, but also for their caring, enthusiastic and friendly manner. You will find them willing to listen to requests and special needs, also to answer questions and queries throughout your tour. This is the Golden Holidays policy as we value our customers and wish you to come back time after time.
DOOR-TO-DOOR PICKUP You will be informed of your pickup time 7 days prior to departure. You will be collected from your door by one of our ‘feeder’ mini coaches or by taxi and taken to meet the main holiday coach at a suitable central location at Tibshelf. This eliminates hours of travelling around various pickup points and enabling the coach to commence its journey immediately after loading, the reverse applies on return.
FINANCIAL SECURITY Golden Holidays operate a ‘client trust fund account’ to comply with EU Directive 30/314. In the unlikely event that we should cease trading you are guaranteed repayment of all monies paid or the completion of your holiday if it has already commenced.
LUGGAGE Your driver will take care of your luggage (you are not expected to carry your own suitcase), but the company cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage unless it can be proved that it is due to negligence on the company’s part. We have now put a maximum limit of 15kgs (33lbs) in weight and no larger than 26ins x 8ins x 15ins in size. If the weight or size is exceeded there will be a £15 surcharge payable. NO SMOKING All coaches are designated NO SMOKING zones. Passengers are reminded to refrain from smoking until the regular ‘comfort’ stops.
LATE AVAILABILITY HOLIDAY From time to time we are offered late availability holidays at short notice at some very special prices. If you are able to drop everything at short notice, then you might like to have your name added to our late availability mailing list or your mobile number so that we can text you with special offers. Please telephone now and ask for Pam. GROUPS If you are a group or party organiser please allow us to help, we have a wealth of experience in organising all aspects of coach travel and accommodation. Be it to organise a holiday, short break, outing or to see a show, we are available to arrange a package tailor-made to suit your individual requirements. Please telephone and ask for Pam or Tim.

As well as being known as the good food island, Jersey boasts a multitude of activities and interests. Some of the most famous include the German Underground Hospital, The Maritime Museum, The Jersey Museum and The Jersey Zoo. Made famous by the television programme, ‘Bergerac’, this island is the jewel in the crown of the Channel Islands.
Located in the Irish Sea, midway between NW Britain and Northern Ireland, the isle has its own parliament, laws, currency, stamps and Gaelic language. The three-legged symbol of the Isle is as famous as the Manx (tail-less) cats and the T.T. motorcycle races. Douglas, the capital, is a fine majestic Victorian town. The promenade follows the curve of Douglas Bay; along with its sandy beach there are shops and restaurants and a picturesque harbour.

Dunoon & Bute
Considered by many to be the loveliest of all the Scottish Islands, Skye is the largest of the Inner Hebrides group; yet no part of the island is more than five miles from the sea. Fort William is the largest town in the West Highlands. An area renowned for magnificent scenery with an important history. It has the highest mountain in the UK – Ben Nevis, and Loch Morar – the deepest loch, with beautiful glens, forests and beaches.
Built around the historic Castle Mound and famous for its large Victorian pier, Dunoon is one of the Firth of Clyde’s foremost resorts. The Isle of Bute has lush, fertile rolling hills at its heart and craggy, heathercovered moorlands to the north and the delightful sandy beaches around the coastline, the island is a haven for walking, cycling, fishing and wildlife.

Three miles of fine long flat seafront is interrupted by a lively Victorian pier and cheerful bandstand with turquoise roof. In 1850 the 7th Duke of Devonshire began developing this coastal area and even to this day there are no shops or amusements on the seafront, this is what gives Eastbourne its elegant charm. The local council takes a great deal of care over its upkeep of the gardens and flower beds and the town has a clean look and feel about it. Bands play throughout the summer at the bandstand and these gatherings are very popular.
The Haddon Hall Hotel The Haddon Hall hotel is situated just off Grand Parade, opposite the bandstand and only minutes from the main shopping area, conference centre and theatres. Devonshire Place is a broad, tree-lined avenue, linking the seafront and shopping centre. All bedrooms are en-suite with central heating, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities, and all are served by lift. Weston Super Mare
A promenade and long sandy beach are overlooked by a wonderfully ornate statue of George III, which was erected in 1810 to commemorate his Golden Jubilee. The promenade’s 19th Century atmosphere is epitomised by an equally elaborate clock tower which was built in 1887. The harbour dates back to Roman times.
Weston like so many other resorts was little more than a fishing village until the seaside was “discovered”. Two piers were built between 1867 and 1904 establishing its holiday town status adding that dash of Victorian and Edwardian splendour. Weston has further developed into a lively modern resort with a full range of attractions to entertain the holidaymaker. The sea disappears into the distance at low tide leaving behind an expanse of golden sandy beaches.

The most popular resort in North Cornwall. The new quay was built in the 16th Century when it became necessary to provide a new harbour for the pilchard fishing town of Towan Fistral. The town adapted itself to tourism which flourished after the railway arrived in 1876. With breathtaking coastal scenery and many varied attractions, Newquay is a must for anyone wanting a change this year.
Positioned between Brixham and Torquay in the centre of Torbay, Paignton enjoys the same weather climate and many other attributes of these other resorts, except Paignton is very flat and is ideal for people with walking difficulties. It was here that Isaac Singer, the sewing machine tycoon, settled after building the 100 room Oldway Mansion, modelled on the Palace of Versailles.

The largest and most popular resort in Devon’s ‘English Riviera’, is beautifully positioned in the hills at the north end of Torbay. The once medieval fishing hamlet of ‘Tor Quay’ began to flourish on the completion of the Great Western Railway in 1848. Known for its sheltered location and mild healthy climate, today’s visitor will find an exciting resort with plenty of shops, entertainment and activities. There is also a passenger ferry service which operates between Torquay and Brixham.
Set to the North of Torquay, this pretty resort once played host to Royalty and other visitors when Torquay was only a small fishing village. With a superb view over Torbay from the Downs, Babbacombe boasts the highest promenade in England. Here you will find probably the best model village there is, and the Bygones Museum is also worth a visit. The Babbacombe Theatre is very popular (discounted tickets can be obtained by your coach driver) and an award winning fish & chip shop just around the corner!

The Settle to Carlisle Railway This is one of England’s most scenic railway journeys. One of the last great mainline railways to be built in this country, it was completed for passenger travel in 1876. The landscape presented a tremendous challenge, requiring 72 miles of track, 20 major viaducts and 14 tunnels. Today’s travellers can still enjoy a dramatic and inspiring journey through some of England’s most magnificent landscape.
