Thereportersconductedinterviewswithstudents andinstructorsinSparkclasses,askingwhatthey likeaboutit,whytheychoseitandwhattheyʼve learnedsofar.Classescoveredavarietyof interests,rangingfromdancingtocookingtomusic tosports.

OneofthespringSparkchoicesforthird gradersatParkTerracewashowtolearn keyboarding.Keyboardingishowkids learntoplaythepianoelectronically.
“Ilearnedhowtoreadnewnotes,”says Ava.Allthestudentslearnedhowtoplay newsongseveryweek. Whiletheystartedoffnotknowingmuch atallaboutthekeyboardorhowtoplay thesongs,nowtheyareclosetopros. Duringthelesson,theinstructor commentedonhowmuchthestudents haveimprovedfromthefirstclass,and thatsheisproudoftheirprogress.

Anenergeticfourthgradeclassmakescakepops onSparkFridays.Duringsessions,studentsgetto designdifferentcreativeandcolorfulcakepops.
OneFridaysessionhadstudentsmakebright, colorfulinspiredcakepops.Ms.Tschida,fourth gradeteacherandcakepopexpert,saidher favoritepartofteachingtheclass,“wasseeingthe kidshavefun.Seeinghowtheyalsoenjoytheclass tooisabigpartofwhatIloveasateacher.”
Fourthgrader,Theia,likedlearninghowtodesign thecakepopswithdifferentcolorsandpatterns. Herfavoritepartoftheclasswas,“makingcake popswithmyfriends!”shesayshappily.
Studentsproudlyshowofftheirdesignsoftheir cakepops.Thisday,thestudentsmade bumblebees.Theinstructorshowsastudenthowto dipthecakepopintothecoloredfrosting,letitdry, andthenmakeafinaldesign(beforeeating!)
