SPRING LAKE PARK SCHOOLS PRESCHOOL

Welcome to preschool, the first step in your child’s educational journey in Spring Lake Park Schools. The goal of preschool is to ensure children enter school with the skills and behaviors necessary to be successful before they begin kindergarten and in all future learning. We will partner with you to create an experience that meets your child’s individual needs and interests.

• Children must be at least 3 years old by September 1, 2023

• Programs for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds

• Classes are offered September–May

• Free preschool classes (for those that meet eligibility requirements)

• Spanish immersion preschool ¡Preescolares en español!

• Preschool classes are inclusive of students with all abilities

CURRICULUM

Preschool in Spring Lake Park Schools aligns its curriculum with Minnesota Early Learning Standards and with our district’s K-5 standards. Teachers develop hands-on learning activities that promote creativity and confidence. Our program provides children with experiences that build relationships, enhance problem solving and communication skills, and sets the foundation for successful, life-long learning in the areas of:

• Language, literacy and communication

• Physical and movement development

• Math, Arts, Science

To complete registration, please bring the following to the District Services Center:

• Present an original birth certificate (with state seal)

• Address verification - Drivers License/State ID with current address, or current utility bill or a lease/purchase agreement

• Child’s current immunization record

APPLYING FOR FREE OR REDUCED TUITION

If you are applying for a free class or reduced tuition, you are asked to please submit proof of income. All documentation must be turned in before your registration is approved and your child is confirmed in a class. Any of the documents listed below may be used as proof of income:

• Page 1 of the most recent IRS Income Tax Form

• Free/Reduced price meal approval letter for older sibling

• Official form documenting current enrollment in SNAP, MFIP, ACCAP or foster care

DISCOVERY DAYS CHILD CARE

Providing Child Care while preparing your child for Kindergarten

Locations: Centerview Elementary | District Services Center

• Flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of your family. Customize your schedule based on the following:

– Three to five days a week, Monday through Friday

– Full day, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

– Partial day, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Children are eligible if they are 3- or 4-years-old by September 1, 2023 and are toilet trained

Tuition Fees

Not eligible for sliding fee, but we are a CCA eligible provider.

• Full day, five days per week, $54/day

• Partial day, five days per week, $49/day

• Full day, three or four days per week, $68/day

• Partial day, three or four days per week, $63/day

PRESCHOOL (HALF DAY)

Children attend independently, two to five days per week

Location: Preschool classes are offered in each of our elementary schools. Visit SpringLakeParkSchools.org/AttendanceBoundary to find your neighborhood school.

• Children are eligible if they are 3- or 4-years-old by September 1, 2023 and are toilet trained

• Transportation is not available, parent drop-off and pick-up only

• Classes are eligible for sliding fee/reduced tuition

SPANISH IMMERSION PRESCHOOL (HALF DAY)

Offering a preschool experience for families interested in Spanish Immersion

Location: Woodcrest Spanish Immersion Elementary

• Children have a great capacity for second language comprehension at this age. Children in this class will become comfortable hearing Spanish spoken and will begin to understand phrases and directions in Spanish. They will learn their preschool skills and begin to use the Spanish language.

• Children are eligible if they are 4 years old by September 1, 2023 and are toilet trained

• Transportation is not available, parent drop-off and pick-up only

• Classes are eligible for sliding fee/reduced tuition

Classes for 4-year-olds

Three days per week

$20.50 per day I billed weekly

• Monday/Wednesday/Friday

• 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

FREE PRESCHOOL CLASSES

Families must meet eligibility requirements in order to qualify for free preschool classes

• Transportation is available for families living within the district boundaries

• Funding from the state of Minnesota make these free classes possible

K-Readiness Preschool

Children are eligible if they are 4 years old by September 1, 2023 and are toilet trained

Five days per week

• Monday-Friday

• 1-3:30 p.m.

• Centerview, Northpoint

• Class eligibility based on income

Five days per week

• Monday-Friday

• 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-4 p.m.

• Park Terrace

• Class eligibility is based on income, for children who do not speak English as a first language, or have other school preparedness needs. Please contact us with any questions about this class.
