SPRING LAKE PARK SCHOOLS PRESCHOOL Welcome to preschool, the first step in your child’s educational journey in Spring Lake Park Schools. The goal of preschool is to ensure children enter school with the skills and behaviors necessary to be successful in future learning. We will partner with you to create an experience that meets your child’s individual needs and interests. CURRICULUM Preschool in Spring Lake Park Schools aligns its curriculum with Minnesota Early Learning Standards and with our district’s K-5 standards. Licensed teachers develop hands-on learning activities that promote creativity and confidence, through lessons that meet individual student’s needs and interests. GENERAL INFORMATION • Children must be at least 3 years old by September 1, 2022 in order to be eligible for preschool. • Children must be toilet trained. • Parents provide transportation. • Preschool classes provide inclusion for children with special needs.

Health and Safety Plan Our health and safety practices are aligned to current guidance from the MN Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We continue to monitor the situation and evolving public health guidance and will remain responsive to any adjustments that may be needed.

2022-2023 PRESCHOOL CLASSES Spring Lake Park Schools offers 3- and 4-year-old preschool programs that run from September through May. Preschool prepares children for kindergarten by incorporating literacy, math, science, social studies, art, social/emotional development, and physical development into its curriculum. Preschool is aligned with the Spring Lake Park Schools kindergarten program. Read the descriptions of our four preschool formats below to see what program would work best for you and your family. When you’re ready to register, visit SpringLakeParkSchools.org/Preschool. Class start and end times may change slightly based on the district school day start and end times.

Discovery Days Child Care (Full day or partial day) This program offers kindergarten readiness for your child and child care while you work. • Flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of your family. Customize your schedule based on the following: – Three to five days a week, Monday through Friday – Full day, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. – Partial day, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. • Children are eligible if they are 3- or 4-years-old by September 1, 2022 and are toilet trained Classes for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds • Flexible scheduling at Centerview • Flexible scheduling at District Services Center

Tuition Fees Not eligible for sliding fee, but we are a CCA eligible provider. • Full day, five days a week, $52/day • Partial day, five days a week, $47/day • Full day, three or four days a week, $65/day • Partial day, three or four days a week, $60/day

Preschool (half day) • Children attend independently two to five days per week • Attend preschool in the elementary school that your child will attend for kindergarten-4th grade or, if you are interested in a different class, check out one of our other sites. Classes for 4-year-olds $2,596 annually I billed weekly • Monday-Friday, 1-3:30 p.m. (Centerview, Northpoint) $1,751 annually I billed weekly • Morning Class Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon (Centerview, Northpoint, Park Terrace) • Afternoon Class Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1-3:30 p.m. (Park Terrace) Classes for 3-year-olds $1,403 annually I billed weekly • Morning Class Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-noon (Centerview, Northpoint, Park Terrace) • Afternoon Class Tuesday/Thursday, 1-3:30 p.m. (Park Terrace)


Free Preschool Classes ¡Clases de preescolar gratis! Families must apply for the following free preschool classes and meet eligibility requirements.

K-Readiness Preschool (five days per week, half day) For children going to kindergarten in 2022 who are learning English or whose family qualifies by income. Funding from the state of Minnesota makes this free class possible. Choose your school by neighborhood boundaries: SpringLakeParkSchools.org/enroll/attendance-boundaries

Classes for 4-year-olds | Monday-Friday • Centerview and Northpoint - 1-3:30 p.m. • Park Terrace - 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-4 p.m.

Spanish Immersion Preschool (half day) This program offers a pre-kindergarten experience for families interested in Spanish Immersion. • Children have a great capacity for second language comprehension at this age. Children in this class will become comfortable hearing Spanish spoken and will begin to understand phrases and directions in Spanish. • Students who attend Spanish Immersion class will have the opportunity to learn their preschool skills and begin to use the Spanish language. Classes for 4-year-olds $1,751 annually I billed weekly • Morning Class Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon (Woodcrest Spanish Immersion)

K-Preparación Preescolar (para niños de 4 y 5 años que califiquen) Ayude y prepare a su hijo a tener un futuro exitoso en la escuela. REGISTRATION FOR PRESCHOOL BEGINS ONLINE ON MARCH 1, 2022, 8:30 a.m. SpringLakeParkSchools.org/Preschool To complete registration, please bring the following to the District Services Center at 1415 81st Ave NE: • Present an original birth certificate (with state seal) • Address verification - Drivers License/State ID with current address, or current utility bill or a lease/purchase agreement • Child’s current immunization record - can be brought in, faxed to 763-600-5913 or emailed to earlychildhood@district16.org. If you are applying for a free class or reduced tuition on the sliding fee scale for half day Preschool, please submit proof of income via email at earlychildhood@district16.org, via fax to 763-600-5913 or in person at the District Services Center at 1415 81st Ave NE, Spring Lake Park. All documentation must be turned in before your registration is approved and your child is confirmed in a class. Any of the documents listed below may be used as proof of income. – Page 1 of the most recent IRS Income Tax Form – Free/Reduced price meal approval letter for older sibling – Official form documenting current enrollment in SNAP, MFIP, ACCAP or foster care
