VISUAL ARTS CAMP (AGES 7-10) Exciting hands-on art projects allow campers to explore art, meet creative challenges, and develop fundamental art skills. Campers will broaden their creativity through drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and many other artistic mediums. Finish the week with an art show on Friday at 2:30pm to share your awesome artwork! Week 2 - PAINT SQUAD Explore creative applications and unique ways to express yourself using a variety of paints. Experiment with multiple paint mediums and techniques including acrylic pours, tempera pendulum painting, watercolors, alcohol inks and more. Use brushes and non-conventional tools as you pour, drip, and mix paints to create your very own colorful work of art. Week–long Summer Programs for ages 14-18 Teen Art Studio Summer Intensives allow students to express themselves creatively while learning from professional artist instructors. Come explore and experiment with a variety of artistic mediums. TEEN ART STUDIO: EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING & PAINTING INTENSIVE – AGES 13-19 Unleash your creativity and experiment with materials in unexpected ways during these week-long studio intensives taught by experienced educators who are also professional artists. Students are invited to question, explore, experiment, and solve problems as they create and interact with art. TEEN ART STUDIO: DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY – AGES 14-18 Learn how to use a 35mm camera, from scratch to finish. Instruction will be given in how to compose, meter and expose photographs. Students will need to bring their own 35mm cameras (automatic and/or manual with instruction booklet, if available.) Negatives will be developed and the darkroom magic will begin. Basic printing skills will be taught and practiced, advancing at individual rates, including presentation of a final photo that will be spotted, matted and framed. BACK TO SPRUILL MOVING METAL: FORGING FOR JEWELERS

Come explore the majestic techniques of forging and add dynamic expression and fluid movement to your jewelry designs in a fun, focused and encouraging environment. Jewelry scale forging is about “finesse not force”. In this 3-day workshop, students will learn all aspects of forging- how metal moves, the world of hammers and important proper body mechanics. We will work with wire and practice creating planes, transitions and movement utilizing radiating and directional forging techniques, and how to create tapers with both a hammer and a wire rolling mill. Jewelry forms can be created entirely with a forged base structure or with connected forged elements. Also, forged elements can be added to fabricated designs. TOUCH OF GOLD: MARRYING STEEL AND GOLD with Bette Barnett

In this three day workshop, Bette will teach how to work with mild steel and all the steps necessary to create steel and gold jewelry. This includes sourcing, cutting, forming, texturing, patination and finishing. You will learn how to alloy and roll gold in preparation for fusing. You’ll have ample time for fusing gold to steel, creating dramatic patterns and accents. In addition, you’ll cover Keum Boo which involves burnishing gold foil to hot steel. You’ll also cover patinas to produce the signature black color to contrast with the gold, as well as other colors and effects. RELEASE/CLASS REQUIREMENTS A Release of All Claims/ Emergency Authorization is REQUIRED to participate in classes/ camps at The Spruill Center. Students/ Campers under 18 MUST provide a parent/ guardian signature. Adult classes are for students 18 and over only. For youth classes, students must be within the listed age range. SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION: • Campers must be within the listed date range to enroll. • This program is not licensed by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and is not required to be licensed. Spruill Arts does not offer Daycare Services. • We do not have the staff to accommodate special needs campers. • Additional care is offered each week. There is a fee for late pick-ups.* • SCHOLARSHIPS: There are a limited number of scholarships available for our summer camp program. Contact the Education Director at 770.394.3447, extension 229. • GROUPING REQUESTS must be submitted on the registration form. Friends must list one another and be within a two (2) year age range. We do not guarantee placement. • CAMPER DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP: Walk your child in on the first day of camp. Carpool information at www.spruillarts.org. • MULTI-CAMP DISCOUNT: Register for 3 camps together: save $10 on all 3 camps and subsequent registrations. Register for 2 camps, and then add a 3rd in a separate registration: the $10 discount applies to the 3rd camp registration and subsequent registrations. • Discount will not be applied retro-actively or refunded. • Discount valid for fax, mail, and drop off registrations only. • Online registrations are not eligible for the multi-camp discount. * Fee schedule for early drop offs & late pick-ups: Before 9:15am (not enrolled in before care)
