Pro-tips for Blossoming Buddies: 1. Teach our new hires the how and the why : Don’t dictate or answer the new hire’s question for them. We’re here to lead new hires to every single available resource, not spoon-feed them answer. Ask leading questions and direct the trainees to resources, so they’ll be able to dig for answers once they’re on their own! 2. Empathy, empathy, empathy! : Show our customers and new hires the same respect - we all have different strengths. Learning a whole new set of procedures is hard, and everyone’s doing their best. Be complimentary and encouraging. If someone does a great job on a ticket, let them know. If someone is freaking out - be their empathetic shoulder to lean on. 3. Do not fear constructive criticism: Telling someone to re-work an answer, correct their grammar, or amend their answer can be tough. Do it gently, but do it! We want everyone in the Squarespace community to be the most knowledgeable, helpful version of themselves. 1. 4. Patience is our greatest virtue: 2. 3. Don’t rush your trainee; don’t get frustrated if your explanation doesn’t
seem to be getting through to them. Respect diverse learning styles and try to explain a confusing issue as many different times if you need to.
