A BRIEF HISTORY OF PADIHAM…
It might be hard to imagine today but in the immediate years following the establishment of Padiham Football Club in November 1878 the `Caldersiders` as they were then known were considered one of Lancashire`s soccer pioneers and one of the better Club sides in England. The Padiham Club were in at the birth of the Lancashire Football Associations Senior Cup competition in 1879, reached the third round proper of the F.A. Cup in season 1883 - 84 and beat Burnley F.C. Being an ardent stalwart of the fight waged from Lancashire for
the legalisation of professionalism in football, Padiham`s progressive outlook at the time ironically helped fashion the stranglehold football finance came to have on small town Clubs, in hindsight it condemned Padiham to an ongoing fight for survival. The rebirth of Padiham Football Club came about in 1949 with the opening of the `Arbories` Memorial Sports Ground in Padiham on August 20th 1949 when 1,777 spectators turned up to see the Club`s opening Lancashire Combination fixture of the 1949 - 50 football season.
In 1982, Padiham Football Club became founder members of the North West Counties Football League, however in 1990 they left the league and joined the West Lancashire Football League where they played their football for ten seasons. Padiham returned to the North West Counties Football League for the 2000/2001 season, winning the Premier Division Title in 2012/13 to gain promotion to the Northern Premier League, where they spent two seasons before being relegated back to the North West Counties Football League for the 2015/16 season. Since 1999 the club has spent in the region of £600,000 upgrading their ground.

Dj is either me or Danny Morton Worst taste in music? Haven’t really heard the lads music really but I can guarantee Chris Bailey would be in that. Worst banter at the club? Banter is decent at the club to be fair, but if I had to choose, it would be Dave Sherlock. Your favourite joke? Did I ever tell you about the time I use to work in a bowling alley? Yeah didn’t last long, I was only tenpin. Who is the worst dancer? Got to be Kieron Sherlock. Kids got 2 left feet.
Who will be a future manager?
Mark Ayres 100%. 100m race. Who wins? We’ve got a couple of lads who think there quick but it’s between Danny Morton and Joel Melia, maybe Joel just nicks it.
If you were all to go in the jungle, who would be the most likely to back
out of the challenges? Good question. Depending on the challenge probably me, hate snakes and spiders.
Who would be most likely to win Love
Island? Some good looking lads but Danny Morton or Chris Bailey Who gets fined the most? There isn’t really a stand out person for fines, most the lads always being fined. Most intelligent player? Don’t have any of them (haha!) all head the balls.
The player you’d want to be stuck on
a desert island with? Had to be the Skipper Dom Craig. He would just keep me laughing
Your go to meal deal? Tescos own has to be. Chicken wrap, Dr Pepper and salt and vinegar squares.
Who has the worst fashion sense?
There’s a lot but just ask Matty Hammet about that gilet…
