ONE-STORY HOUSE LOCATION : Hua Takhe, Ladkrabang, Bangkok AREA : 120 sqm. Contemporary thai style residence, as the site is near Hua Takhe market and canal. The house took the image of Hua Takhe houses, old thai style house, so the house doesn’t look too different or much stand out, but fit with the surroundings. The terrace in front of the house is for welcoming guests like old thai style house, could also hold small outdoor party. The sliding doors (Baan fiam)allow users to circulate and wind to flow through the front terrace, the living room and the back terrace, where users can take the view of the canal. As the site is also by the canal, small pavillion by the canal is for recreation and welcoming guests.

4

ONE-STORY HOUSE LOCATION : Windmill Village, Bang Na, Bangkok AREA : 150 sqm. The concept “VIEW FINDER”, according to the user who is the photographer, view finder is the scope which you see picture through your lens. Finding good view is the job of a photographer, so the idea is to create voids which display the best view from a certain point inside the house. Each void could look different from each other.

TWO-STORY HOUSE LOCATION : Nawamin 111 Bangkok AREA : 315 sqm. PROGRAMME : 2-Story house, three users, one of the users is a handicap. (A married couple and wife’s brother) The concept “INTERLOCK” is to integrate with one another, metaphor as a handicap person is a part of this house, he could do anything by himself as a normal person, and as a part of the house(family). Also to interlock between the house and the open space by the dogtrot. It also help flowing the wind through the house.

8

THREE-STORY HOUSE LOCATION : Sathon 1, Bangkok AREA : 700 sqm. PROGRAMME : 3-Story house with a patisseries school The concept ‘BAGUETTE’ is taking the concept of its long shape and slitten. The long-shaped house sets in the right orientation can recieve more wind at the wide side of the house and recieve less sun heat on the narrow side. Slitting the bread allows the heat to get into the whole piece, same as creating voids for the house, allow wind to flow through. The patisseries school is in front of the house, separate the school and the residence by the center courtyard.

13

COFFEE SHOP and EVENT LOCATION : Phet Kasem Road,

Bang Khae, Bangkok AREA : 4 acres

The project is to design the theme of the coffee shop and the event area such as party, office meeting, wedding, etc. The theme of the project is thai style. As it can apply to architecture and landscape, displaying ornamental plants, flowering trees. This can create the uniqueness of the site, also show what thailand already has. Each zone of the project has its own characteristic, as to create scenery for photographing, and tourist attractions. At the south side of the site is the owner’s private residence, and the pond at the center of the site is a shared view between the residence and the cafe part.

PTTGC HOUSING PROJECT LOCATION : Kaeng-Khoi, Rayong AREA : 36 acres OWNER : PTTGC The concept “SYMBIOSIS is to create space that users can interact with each other. The surrounding of each house will share the space with other houses and the negative space between each group of house is a shared open space. The main condition of the site is the contour, the setting for each house or house group is based on the topography. Some grading is needed but most of the buildings are placed on the plain. The circulation is also along the contour shape. The Clubhouse is located at the south side near the reservoir, which is the Chulalongkorn dam.

20

21

RITZ CARLTON RESORT LOCATION : Koh Mun-Klang, Rayong AREA : 40 acres The concept “TWO TONE is interpret from the island, that island is an isolated place where you can retreat from the disturbing mainland. Island includes two atmospheres, as it is surrounded by the ocean, the SEA, and as the inner part is covered with trees, the FOREST. The concept is to create space that each activity must have two different feelings and the shelters are located both inner part of the island, forest view, and outer part, sea view.

SRI RAT UNDER EXPRESSWAY LOCATION : Sri-rat under expressway (From Urupong intersection to Praram IV road) AREA : 36 acres

HEALTH

LINKAGE

Under the expressway is considered to be shady, tight and narrow, though expressway is also considered to be the line which separates the district, decreasing the pleasantry of living. HEALTH concept is to solve the problem at its source and allow the underpass to bind the separated, by creating public spaces, by creating the linkage, and creating green area as much as possible in order to reduce the carbondioxide ,and also heat island reduction.

OBJECTIVE

Installing solar cell grids in the position which is most open, in order to catch the sunlight in most time of the day, in the form of solar pavillion. Area of 48 sq.m, consist of 40 cell grids(250Wp each) which can create 1500 unit of electricity per month, which is enough for night lights around the area, air-conditioning inside the library, and water pump. Gray water to be treated in the site comes from the surrounding communities, after treated water will be use to water the plants in the site. Treatment pond in the site is ‘constructed wetland’. Using ‘cattail’ as the treatment plant, its root can flter the sediment and its pollen can filter the CO2.

Any space that has the potential of being green area will be planted with trees and shrub as much as possible, in order for plants to turn CO2 into O2 by photosynthesis, and the foundations on the outer rim are covered with Bengal Trumpet in vertical garden. Kasetsart University’s research has proved that Bengal Trumpet has highest photosynthesis rate, reduce more CO2. Sunlight will be turning into energy for the library surrounding night lights and water pump. Grey water coming from the shower will be treated. Grey water from surrounding communities will be treated and used for watering the plants in the site after wards. Plants will filter the pollutions and create oxygen for the community.

Bangkok’s residential area emit 280,000 kg of CO2 per year. Total Green Area of the Poject is 2.67 acres. A tree can absorb CO2 1.2kg/ year. If 1 acre can plants approximately 800 trees, will reduce 9.5% of the amount of CO2 per year.

Potentialed green area of the site is only 9.3% of the site.

SKYWALK and PLAZA LINKAGE The PLAZA ia at Pong-Praram intersection. It has potential to be the main approach for the site, because every road pass through it and it is potentialed to be a linkage to ‘Siam’ or National Stadium, which is one of the main tourist attraction. SKY WALK Because Pong-Praram has no pedestrian’s crossing path, and needed to create new perspective to the place. Sky Walk is to be a landmark for the place. It is pedestrian walkway, bike lane, and its slope is 1 : 10 which handicap can also use it.

The waterfront project design is to re-concept the infrastructure and filtrates the wastewater before it goes to the river. The filters are designed in layers, sorted by the pros and cons in each techniques, starts from Activated Sludge and Solid Filter to separate solid wastes, then the wetland by using reeds or cattails to increase oxygen in the water for the microbes in the next layer, the Floating plants, will dispose the organic matter in the wastewater, and Water Hyacinth can also absorb the heavy metal. The last layer is Sewage Fed Fish which using aquatic animals to consume the nutrients and organic matter, also this layer could be design for recreation area which connects to the surrounding open space or the riverfront.

(Friends of the River’s Project) LOCATION : Alongside Chaophraya

river from RAMA VII Bridge to Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge

RE-CONCEPTUAL BLUE-GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE The initial idea for this project is to recreate waterfront that people can interact with river like in the old days; irrigation, transportation, utilization. In order to recreate the interaction, the water must be cleaned, and spaces which are shaded and support for activities. To develop the water quality for the entire river by treating only selected area would be impossible, so this project design is to be a prototype of landscape design for water quality development. The goal for this project design is that the water that passes through the site, the water quality must not be decrease.

COMBINED SEWER OVERFLOW

The sources of water pollution in Bangkok are city infrastructure and human behavior towards the river that’s changed. 85% of Bangkok’s water pollution comes from community area (municipal wastewater). Sewer structure of Bangkok is Combined Sewer Overflow, the pipes that collect wastewater from buildings and pipes which collect the stormwater are the same pipe. The problem is when there is stormwater in the system and the capacity of the treatment plant is fully loaded, wastewater will be dispose directly into the canal without being treated. All solid wastes will be loaded at the watergates, the last barrier between the river and the canal, so the design will be taken place in the canal behind those gates. Water comes through pipeline and goes to Treatment Plant before release into the canal.

But when it’s rainning, wastewater is too much, overflow the wall and release into canal without being treated.

PUMPING STATION AND WATERGATE TYPES Watergates and pumping stations can only block the solid waste, but they cannot block nuetrient and mixed with heavy metals. Municipal waste is the main problem causing the pollution in the CHAOPHRAYA River and it is effecting the Gulf of Thailand. The easiest way to solve this problem is to increase the efficiency of the existing system by adding sub-water treatment system at every gate in order to filter the wastewater before enters the river.

49

DESIGN IMPLEMENT for BANG -SUE CANAL

(Individual Project)

Bang-sue canal is one of Bangkok’s main water distribution canal. Not only that it collects the wastewater from Bangsue District but also from Ladprao through the Giant Tunnel which is beneath the canal and the station, where the water is release, is at near the end of the canal, and they are release to the river without being treated, The design is mainly the filter to treat wastewater from one of Bangkok’s most polluted canal before going into Chaophraya River, and create linkage between the waterfront, surrounding green area (Kiak-kai park) and surrounding communities. Connecting ‘Blue’ and ‘Green’.
