This portfolio reflects not just my skills and inspiration, but the collective effort and motivation of some of the best individuals i have known...

My love for art initiated my interest in Architecture.

Architecture in turn encouraged me to unlearn all preconceived notions and perceive the world by transcending boundaries intrinsic to human beings. I am always drawn to how things work, in relation to how people feel and act.

2 COMMUNITY HOUSING Shanag, Himachal Pradesh Sem 4, Architectural Design Climate: cold and dry

Backyard used for growing vegetables.

With Ar. Ameer Chauhan

An extended cluster, for the village of shanag, comprising of housing for 5 families and a community school for them. Their existing housing typologies, climatic factors and the structural efficiency in seismic resistance are taken into consideration.

A Thick stone walls and elements like tandoor keeps the interior warm.

Existing situation in Shanag:

The Verandah is used for storage , sitting etc Handloom weaving of carpet are performed here.

A quaint little village near Manali, in Himachal Pradesh is slowly drifing away from it’s traditional building techniques due to restricted access to resources. As a result the landscape is now dominated by concrete structures which is ineffective towards seismic resistance and has a greater carbon footprint.

DESIGN PROCESS

Existing Kathkuni technique provides stability during earthquakes

Stone walls and strategic planning( cowshed at lower level to heat upper floors) provide thermal insulation

EXCERPTS FROM TYPICAL HOUSE IN SHANAG

Frontyard as an extension to domestic activities.

The boundaries of the courtyard is raised and acts as a seating.

A Typiacl linear form

Reoriented for better reception of sunlight. Large area with gentle slope Suitable for catchment area or playground.

Comparitively steep slope Effective use of contours to prevent errosion.

SLOPE AND SHADOW ANALYSIS OF THE SITE

7

PREFERABLE ORIENTATION OF THE HOUSES FOR BETTER THERMAL INSULATION. Land along the river is susceptible to errosion, can be prevented by creating a bund or plantation

AYCARE CENTRE,Madhu park, Khar, Mumbai 3 D Sem 3, Architectural Design With Ar. Shaurya Chauhan

Madhu Park, a distinctive circular recreation ground nestled within the quaint residential neighbourhood of khar; was our site. The brief suggested was to design a day care facilty for the the children of the neighbourhood along wih a farmer’s market.

Methology

• Studying the context & Understanding the requirement and interests of modern day children and their parents. • Designing programs that would cater the people of neighbourhood, as well as interdependent on each other.

Program:

Daycare centre & playground

urban farming & farmer’s market

Roof tiles- Micro Concrete Tiles ( reduces heat, noise cancellion during rains

Roof frame of bamboo and tiles fitted on it

self defence centre

Design process“A home away from home” Inspired from the cozy hut structures of bhunga,Gujrat; the form tries to create a welcoming atmosphere for kids, while keeping them connected to their indigenous roots The planning follows, a hierarchy from private to public space, the day care center becoming the core.

The recreation spaces are designed such that it incorporates a vibe of fair

C pipe frame work in self defense center

The shed of farmers market is made of teflon sheet (PTFE), supported by aluminium framework

Truss used in the roof of daycare center

ROOF PLAN

• Each hut can accomodate 3 people. • There heights vary as per the age of the child ranging from 2 to 3m

ARCHAIS

‘ THE HOUSE’ COMPETITION TOP 50 In collaboration with:

Sweety Bhosale, Naqiya gadliwala

Brief:

• The competion aimed rethinking the idea of ‘home’ and house design with respect to the context of the location selected by individuals. • It encouraged participants in understanding the basic functionality of a home and design accordingly.

The village of Shang is nestled among the hills, away from the hustle bustle of Manali. The site chosen is at the edge of the village beside a spring of river Beas. The house is curated to reflect the culture of the context, as well a contemporary touch using local sustainable materials and techniques.

Archmello Design Competition

In collaboration with Sweety Bhosale and Naqiya Gadliwala • A student housing project in the city of pune, which would enhance the quality of lifestle of students by providing privacy as well as space for collective activities. • Apart from multiple occupancy options in living quaters, supporting facilities like canteen, laun-

A student housing is a thread that acts a connection between human, between past and present and different cultures.

The design attempts to capture the essence of Wadas of pune into the present urban fabric of the city. Wadas were designed such that it had a fortified aura through its exterior and a very porous form of architecture in the interiors. (in form of courtyard, verandahs, chowks)

After a long day at work, a student seeks solace. Every unit with private space- their balconies with unceasing view to reflect on their thoughts. The balconies at different levels are arranged in an intertwining manner to to achieve this goal.

Entry

The concept of stuudent community is embodied in the design through the multiple interactive spaces, for example the spaces between two units, the courtyards, sit outs and corridors.

Located at an altitude of 39 meters above sea level. The city is located between the fertile plains of Mahi and Narmada rivers. The climate of Vadodara is semi-arid. A wide variety of climatic conditions facilitates growth of different species of flora, also it includes one of the largest dry deciduous forest in the western region.

TECHNICAL DRAWING

IDHA Labs

Product Design competition 2020

In collaboration with Sweety Bhosale The aim was to design a product that would enhance the lifestyle of people in lockdown as well as provide them with some flexibility within spaces that we are confined in.

Tea plates form the rudimentary element of the product.

Option 1

People sit on the bed with a laptop and a cup of coffee needing a plate to hold the cup- idea of combining the plates to make a table a flexible framing system holds the entire product together, which can be manenoveoured easily by the user.

ISOMETRIC VIEW

Concept and Design development the pandemic and consequential lockdown has left us with one option i.e adapting to a working environment that is familiar and alien at the same time.

Work from home-mostly people find it comfortable to sit on the bed or sofa instead of using working desktop table and chair.

Personalisation of work space by using art, may help people enjoy the mundane working hours at home.

WORKING TABLE (USING ALL JOINERY)

ISOMETRIC VIEW

Post quarantine, people will resume their previous routine of going outdoors for work. The product can be then dismantled and used alternatively, for storage, organization and aesthetics.

PLAN WORKING TABLE (USING ALL JOINERY)

This gives rise to a need for a laptop table that provides flexible working conditions
