Student feedback • Initially students wanted to know if blended learning was
being implemented so it was easier for the teacher.
• Since using Schoology students have stated that having
access to videos and lessons help when they are absent or when they need to hear it again.
• They like Schoology and with other teachers at my school
using it they are quickly mastering its use.
• Some were uncertain at first with uploading their
assignments and sent it via email because they wanted to make sure it was received.
Parents and other teachers feedback I really haven’t heard from parents yet. I have let parents know that we are
using blended learning but so far no feedback.
Other teachers wonder if they have the time to do this. They want to know why they should be doing this. On May 9th I will help train teachers on use of Schoology. I presented my Schoology to our schools curriculum counsel and the
superintendent. They all agreed that we at OE must go forward with blended learning. It gives students who otherwise might drop out a chance to succeed.
Ways Blended Learning Has Changed My Teaching ď‚— It has allowed me to provide students with a central
location for use of multimedia, website resources, lessons and online practice with immediate feedback on student learning.
ď‚— It has forced me to look at the future of education for
many students.
ď‚— It has given me the motivation to create my blended
learning class and challenge students with authentic assessments.
Ideas I Implemented The use of discussion forums on a weekly basis to emphasize key
learning components.
With forums students can learn from other students. Student created original audio telling of stories. Students access to my telling of stories and instructional lessons.
Previous to my blended learning students that were absent missed out on my story telling and it simply could not be made up.
Creating captions for my videos(This is ongoing) I had to update my syllabus to address issues with online learning.
Conclusion ď‚— The process of creating a blended learning class has
been challenging, time consuming and beneficial.
ď‚— It is a continuous process that really has no end. I
believe I will constantly refined and perfect how I deliver my instruction in order to reach as many students as possible.
