CURRICULUM HIGHLIGHTS CONTRACTS Instead of choosing classes that conform to a core curriculum, you’ll work with your faculty advisor and develop a contract that outlines your personal academic goals each semester. It is a comprehensive overview of the many ways you can put your passion into practice, including research projects, internships, and study abroad.
JANUARY TERM In January, you will spend the month working with a professor on a research project, lab experiment, or scholarly paper. You may also use the time to study abroad, participate in an off-campus internship, or put together your own art exhibit or performance.
SENIOR THESIS PROJECT The culmination of your New College education is the senior thesis project. Your project can be a significant research paper, findings from a scientific study, a body of artwork, or a theatrical production. You will present your thesis project to a committee of at least three faculty members.

Earn your bachelor’s degree from one of the nation’s top public liberal arts colleges and Florida’s public honors college. From your first year to your fourth year, our career coaches and faculty advisers will help you build your academic portfolio with internships, research opportunities, community service experiences, leadership programs, and skill-building certificates. You can enroll in courses at four local higher education institutions, pursue dual bachelor’s degrees in liberal arts and engineering at New College and the University of Florida, study abroad, or spend a semester at one of our partner schools in the U.S. Our graduates achieve remarkable success in their careers and graduate school programs. Within four months of graduation, 86 percent of students in the class of 2019 reported that they were employed, enrolled in graduate school or completing internships. After 10 years in the workforce, our alumni earn a median salary of $98,600 (the third highest among graduates of any state university in Florida, according to PayScale’s 2020 College Salary Report. New College graduates also earn Ph.D.s at a higher rate than alumni from any other public university. Founded in Sarasota in 1960, New College of Florida is a nationally ranked public liberal arts college and one of the most affordable small colleges in the country. NCF offers 45 majors in natural sciences, mathematics, arts, humanities, and social sciences, dual degrees in liberal arts and engineering with University of Florida, a master’s degree in applied data science, and certificates in business and technology.
