NEW COLLEGE OF FLORIDA
At New College, we welcome students to join our community of curious and creative minds in a campus environment that promotes deep and meaningful connections. While we offer more than 45 majors ranging across the natural sciences, humanities, arts, and social sciences, we encourage individual agency and support students as they design their own educational and learning experiences. Our unique approach allows students to break from predetermined paths to become the changemakers of the future.
Ranked among the nation’s Top 5 public liberal arts colleges by US News & World Report, New College offers an education tailored to individual learning styles, academic interests, and career aspirations. Thanks to New College’s nationally-recognized approach to academic and career integration, students graduate prepared for the future. All students experience one-on one career planning with their personal career coach and create a step-by-step plan for their future. Our nationally award-winning internship programs offer hands-on experiences that enable students to launch their careers even before graduation.
CURRICULUM HIGHLIGHTS
CONTRACTS Instead of choosing classes that conform to a core curriculum, you’ll work with your faculty advisor and develop a contract that outlines your personal academic goals each semester. It is a comprehensive overview of the many ways you can put your passion into practice, including research projects, internships, and study abroad.
JANUARY TERM In January, you will spend the month working with a professor on a research project, lab experiment, or creative exercise. You may also use the time to study abroad, participate in an off-campus internship, or put together your own art exhibit or performance.
SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT The culmination of your New College education is the senior capstone project. Your project can be a research paper, findings from a scientific study, a body of artwork, a theatrical production, or your own creative product. You will present your capstone project to a faculty committee prior to graduation.
NCF offers more than 45 majors in natural sciences, mathematics, arts, humanities, and social sciences, dual degrees in liberal arts and engineering with University of Florida, a master’s degree in applied data science, and certificates in business and technology skills.
