New LIFE
Wellness Lecture Series The Health and Employee Wellness (HEW) Division is launching a new Wellness Seminar Lecture Series: Lifestyle Interventions for Everyone (LIFE). This series is part of HEW’s My Well-Being Initiative and is designed to be accessible to everyone at the laboratory. The program consists of four 30 minute presentation modules or courses on a specific health topic geared to help employees improve their physical and mental wellbeing. The topics or focuses will change over time.
The focus of LIFE for 2014 is on blood pressure control. Presentations will be made by wellness experts on the topics of medical impact, nutrition, exercise and stress management and how these subjects relate to high blood pressure. The first seminar “The Perils of Pressure” will cover the medical impact of how high blood pressure can affect your body, overall health and life. Employees are encouraged to attend as much of the seminar as their schedules allow. After the presentation there will be a question and answer period when attendees can “Ask the Expert” questions.
Participant is entirely optional. As an incentive to encourage participation, employees that attend all four courses or modules will receive the reward of paying a $25 per month lower healthcare contribution rate for calendar year 2015. Employees can attend the courses any time from Tuesday, February 4, 2014, through Wednesday, November 19, 2014 to receive credit. The modules will be offered each month from February through November at various times and locations at the laboratory. Attendance will be handled through XINK. Sign up for a module by using the XINK form. When attending the seminar remember to bring your Argonne ID badge so it can be scanned for you to receive credit.
Questions can be directed to wellness@anl.gov or ext. 2-2813.
