about Kent State SSDP was founded in September of 2008 by the chapter’s first president, Chris Wallis. In November, Wallis, the chapter’s first Vice President Angel Gagliardi, and Gwen Hipolit traveled to College Park, MD to represent the chapter at its first national conference. Lobbying congress for crack/cocaine disparity reform and experiencing the FunDome were some of the good times had.

The same year, at the international SSDP conference in San Francisco, California, the Kent Chapter was given the Outstanding Chapter award for its dedication to the cause. The Chapter was featured in High Times magazine twice. Once for hosting the Ohio state strategy summit in spring 2010, and once as one of the top 10 “Institutions of Higher Learning”.
