Continued from page 1 sponsors and supporters of the annual fundraiser.
Over the years, the fundraising events have become one of “The” social events of the Island, providing not only a great party time, but serving an even greater cause. A “Bootleggers’ Bash,” ά la 1920s Grosse IIe is in the works as this year’s gala.
This coming year, the GIEF is continuing to fund educational grants for the schools, but also is linking up with the Grosse Ile Historical Society in their efforts to “reimagine” the museum and educational programming for the immediate future.
Further, looking forward, in 2026 the GIEF and Historical Society will join the entire Island celebration of the 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence in 1776, and the deeding of Grosse Ile by the Potawatomi Native Americans to Alexander and William Macomb on July 6, 1776. Talk about history!
